Dear Adventurers,

An Un-Cruise adventure is unlike any other vacation. For many, it is a life changing experience. Nature and wildlife as you’ve never experienced it. As CEO and co-founder of the company, I’d like to share with you the inspiration behind the Un-Cruise.

I grew up on boats, lived on boats, and have worked on boats most of my life. At 27 years old, I made a life changing decision to sell my marine business in Washington and take a job as captain of a day tour boat in Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park. My wife, baby boy and I made the long trip up on our sailboat—one of many adventures.

After a summer of showing visitors the grandeur of the glaciers, wildlife and wilderness and listening to park rangers talk about ecosystems, their vast knowledge seeped into my brain and opened my eyes to the natural world. The vast rivers of ice. The thundering sound when a chunk calves into the sea. Listening to the sound of whales blowing nearby. I was a changed man. I wanted to share its beauty with others in hopes of instilling that same wonder of nature and desire to conserve the wilderness for future generations. And that inspiration leads us to today.

Uncover your Un–Cruise Adventure—then pack your bags and venture into some of nature’s most exciting playgrounds for active exploration, eye–to–eye wildlife encounters, and living history. I invite you to join us, and discover something special yourself.

Choose to Un-Cruise!

The Un-Cruise Story Unrushed. Uncrowded. Unbelievable.

What began in 1997 as yacht cruising in Alaska, pioneered by American Safari Cruises, has evolved and flourished into a style of exploration we call Un-Cruise Adventures—unmatched, hands-on small boat expeditions under the parent company of InnerSea Discoveries. Today, the Un-Cruise concept offers several styles to choose from: Active Adventures; Luxury Adventures; Heritage Adventures; and Charter Adventures—each offering an alternative to traditional cruising. Explore areas inaccessible to larger ships, step ashore in small communities, and get up-close with wildlife.

Our mission is this: Provide our guests an enriching adventure travel experience and inspire an appreciation of local cultures and the natural world.

Small group travel is the heart of what we do. Our small yachts and expedition boats serve as your platform in Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico’s Sea of Cortés, the Columbia & Snake Rivers, and in the coastal waters of Washington & British Columbia. Expert Captains and guides lead you on adventure—trekking into forests and engaging in local communities; kayaking and skiff rides through serene wilderness; exploring along shore and searching for wildlife. Un-Cruise Adventures are flexible and vary in order to limit impacts on fragile ecosystems. Filled with unspoiled encounters, they focus on activities and excursions that complement the wilderness, wildlife and culture in each destination—to change the way you see the world.

This isn’t small ship cruising or big ship cruising. These are Un–Cruise Adventures. Uncommon casual adventures fully-focused on delivering unexpected experiences—quality over quantity, wildlife over nightlife, life changing encounters over momentary entertainment. Our one-of-a-kind, memory-making voyages are designed to be far from ordinary, and carry you outside of ho-hum tourist ports.

Built on a reputation of quality and experience, each style of Un-Cruise Adventures features flexible voyages intended to inspire and satisfy your curious nature. Wildlife in its natural environment; personal exchanges behind the scenes with locals; unmatched moments melding with nature; and engagement in active adventure or living history presentations innovatively highlight your days. Whether you’re in the wilds of Alaska, sunning in the Hawaiian Islands or Sea of Cortés, or honing your inner explorer in the Pacific Northwest—we deliver.

Guests rave about the Un-Cruise experience and often comment on how genuine our crew is, but our secret is really quite simple… we’re doing what makes us, and you, happy; we work in thriving environments; we promote good health in our bodies and on our planet; and we enjoy the freedom from perpetual hurry. We take life in and give it back—and the best part… is sharing it all with you.

Four is a pretty significant number, and after a lot of thought, more pondering, and then careful consideration, we arrived at four noteworthy styles of Un-Cruise Adventures: Active, Luxury, Heritage, and Charter. Each style offers a distinct focus, personality, and range of activities. And depending on which style you choose and which boat you’re on, the amenities and activities included may vary, but they are all exceptional.

With each of our adventure styles, the atmosphere is always casual, the service attentive, and our bridge is open. Once on board, you’re expected to relax, give in to the beauty of the moment, and leave the stresses of the world at home. Our onboard Expedition and Legacy Leaders guide your way and the wildlife is always unleashed. So without further ado, it’s time to consider your options: unwind each day with a microbrew or glass of wine; a backdrop of cactus-clad desert rims or snow-capped mountains; kayaking, trekking, and snorkeling or seeing history come to life—the choice is yours.

Active Adventures

Expedition-style explorations equipped for action and delivered from aboard all three of our Wilderness boats: Wilderness Adventurer; Wilderness Discoverer; Wilderness Explorer.

Focused on experiencing life on the outside—rain or shine—activities like kayaking, standup paddle boarding (SUP), treks ashore, and explorations by inflatable skiff top the agenda.

Luxury Adventures

Upscale voyages loaded with extra amenities, soft-adventure, and exclusive excursions are offered aboard our yachts and yacht-style boats: Safari Endeavour; Safari Explorer; Safari Quest.

Indulge in the good life with included spirits and extra amenities. We balance adventurous activities by mixing them up with cultural encounters, and personal touches like evening turn-down service.

Heritage Adventures

History comes to life afloat and ashore with Living History programs. Historical characters are revealed and included amenities unfold aboard a replica Victorian-style steamship: Safari Legacy.

Time doesn’t stand still, but at times it may seem so. In the wake of some of North America’s early explorers, Legacy Leaders guide you on a stimulating journey of colorful places and fascinating people.

Charter Adventures

There’s nothing like privacy! And chances are—with maximum capacities of 22, 36, 60, 76, 86, and 88—we have the perfect boat to fit your group size. Every boat afloat in the Un-Cruise fleet is available for a private charter.

You could be kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) one morning and snorkeling the next. Another day may offer a gentle afternoon shore walk or have you feeling the muscles burn with a rigorous hike (even a little bushwhacking). And if you just feel like taking it easy, that’s okay, too. For those who take their adventure on the lighter side, you can enjoy riding in the skiff or chatting up the Captain on the bridge.

Whether you are looking for mild, moderate or rigorous outdoor pursuits, or a more Zen wilderness experience, we offer activities to suit a variety of skill levels. We rank our trekking excursions with an activity level to ensure the right fit: 1 – Easy; 2 – Moderate; 3 – Challenging; 4 – Strenuous; 5 – Difficult. Depending on where you might be exploring, the Expedition Leaders and guides on board will provide the insight needed for you to make a safe and enjoyable choice.

Gearing UpEach expedition boat is equipped with top-of-the-line kayaks and SUPs. There is a nominal daily use charge for snorkeling gear (except in Hawaii) and wet suits. Limited quantities of hiking poles, binoculars, mud boots, and rain gear are available on board for your use, but to ensure availability, fit, and comfort, we strongly encourage you to bring your own. A detailed packing list is available on our website.

Activities may include:u Whale watchingu Unbelievable kayaking and SUPingu Inflatable boat excursionsu Morning yoga and stretchingu Treks in the wilderness, to a cave, or along shoreu Unequaled glacier viewingu Untamed wildlife observationu “Polar bear plunges”u Tropical beachcombingu Discoveries by underwater hydrophone and bow-mounted camerau Engaging cultural encounters

Adventure opportunities abound, but just in case you want more, we’ve arranged some additional excursions with local experts to further enhance your experience. Guided fishing, flightseeing, camping trips (to name a few) are available for purchase on board.

Take a breather. Have a fantastic, easy-going day—stroll along a beach or take a 2-hour trek at modest elevation or to a “great to be alive” waterfall. Back on board, go for a shore-hugging spin in the kayak or skiff, then into the hot tub for a double bubbly of muscle warming and complimentary champagne. Nothing too extreme and surely something you’ll feel good about. Inside and out.

Our small guest numbers keep your experience exclusive and personal. We engage local experts to ensure you have an opportunity to learn as much about what you are seeing and experiencing as you want. Experiences on or off the boat are designed to provide adventures few travelers ever experience.

Nautical history, human history, the history of nations—it tells many stories. And history doesn’t just come to life—we bring it to life. It comes alive in historic ports steeped in legend and fact; on tours that guide you through time; during visits with local historians and native peoples who unfold the past; and with characters of yore who join you to share their stories… our Heritage Adventures beckon.

Perhaps your very ancestors sailed the seas making discoveries of their own and meeting fascinating personalities. Sharing that same sense of adventure you could find yourself being greeted by Teddy Roosevelt, founder

of the National Park Service; standing on the bow alongside John Muir, awed by the thunderous crack of a glacier; or finding inspiration, as a budding photographer and geographer, listening to the tales of Eliza Scidmore.

Timely ElementsYou won’t have to don buckskin or a coonskin cap, but you may encounter someone who does. Either way, we’ll make your journey memorable in unimaginable ways:

u Interpretive staff prepares you for visits ashoreu Characters appear in period costumeu Dance floor for entertaining evenings on boardu Presentations by knowledgeable historiansu Expert guest speakers step on board keeping history aliveu See important artifacts in the regions visitedu Local residents share their heritageu Informative activities enhance your place in timeu Coastal steamer replica with Victorian-style decor

Let us tailor a Charter Adventure with your special focus in mind—complete with activities, crew, and expedition staff. We handle all the details, leaving you to sit back and soak in the experience of a lifetime.

Experts in the FieldIn addition to getting extraordinarily close to nature and wildlife, we ensure that all guests have opportunities to learn about what they are seeing and experiencing. We engage local experts from the National Park Service to interpret, narrate, and share dinner. U.S. Forest Service wilderness rangers sometimes kayak right up to our boats and hop aboard to talk about natural history and their own special bond with the land. And local historians bring history to life. Supplementing our onboard expedition team, Captains, and other staff, these interpreters provide a tremendous resource for our small contingent of guests.

Onboard TeamThe best in the industry—our Captains, chefs, expedition team, hotel staff, and mates are individually selected not only for their outstanding knowledge, customer service, and safety skills, but also for their genuinely welcoming and enthusiastic personalities. Our Expedition and Legacy Leaders are experienced guides with advanced training in natural and/or cultural history. Our customer service staff is made up of energetic men and women who are as excited about where you’re going as you are. Our Captains and engineers have the certifications and skills to provide you with a safe and confident exploration experience.

We’ve deservedly earned our reputation—one guest at a time.

Shaped by massive glaciers over millions of years, the temperate rainforest of Southeast Alaska (also known as the Alaska Panhandle) reveals wildlife-rich fjords and spectacular scenery. The Tongass National Forest—the largest in the US—is 16.8 million acres and constitutes the majority of area. Throughout history, the channels and waterways along Alaska’s Inside Passage have served as an important travel corridor for Native Tlingit, Tsimshian, and Haida peoples and gold-rush era steamships.

Recognized in 1986 as a biosphere reserve, in 1992 the 3.3-million-acre Glacier Bay National Park earned its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, 15,000-foot mountains rise straight out of the ocean and massive glaciers flow across the landscape, covering thousands of square miles. At different points in history, explorers John Muir, Joseph Whidbey, and Captain George Vancouver each discovered this unforgettable natural laboratory—today, receding glaciers reveal a landscape that has been covered with ice for tens of thousands of years.

Rich in wildlife, brown and black bears, the endemic Alexander Archipelago wolf, Sitka black-tailed deer, humpback whales, orca, salmon, bald eagles, harlequin ducks, scoters, and marbled murrelets call the area home. Other features of the region include the Alexander Archipelago and Misty Fjords National Monument.

Your Alaska experience wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Alaska’s interior. The Alaska Range is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Forming an east-west arc, it runs 400 miles from central Alaska to the White River in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Parts of the range are protected by central Alaska’s Denali National Park and Preserve and Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. Low-elevation taiga forest, alpine tundra, and snowy mountains offer solitude, tranquility, and wilderness. Large and small wild animals roam these lands—grizzly bears, caribou, moose, and Dall’s sheep are just a few of the species that call the area home.

Encompassing a 6-million-acre subarctic ecosystem of extraordinary beauty and astonishing wildlife is Denali National Park and Preserve, home to Mt. McKinley, whose 20,320-foot peak stands as the tallest in North America. Some of the densest bear populations in the state of Alaska are found down on Cook Inlet and the Kenai Peninsula near the entrance to Lake Clark National Park. Alaska’s Iditarod National Historic Trail runs northward through both parks all the way to the northernmost reaches of Nome.

The “when to go” question comes up often. With Alaska travel, it’s almost always the first question asked. Rain, bears, birds, whales, salmon, insects, sunlight, temperature, snow level, flowers, northern lights—how much, how little, how long, what variety, how high, how low—these are all key interests when planning your Alaskan vacation. It’s The Big Land, and therefore, there is no “cookie cutter” answer to these curiosities.

The following guideline best describes when “skies are most blue” and when salmon change hue...

In Southeast Alaska, our Luxury Adventure boats meander through the waters surrounding the Tongass National Forest—the largest in the United States—home to grizzly and black bears, mountain goats, bald eagles, and wolves. Pass huge icebergs en route to view massive thundering glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park. Enter some of the world’s deepest fjords to hike, kayak, and explore the natural wonders of this stunning landscape. Set your course for the whale-rich waters of Icy Strait, Frederick Sound and Stephen’s Passage, while keeping watch for the telltale signs of humpbacks, orca, porpoise, sea otters, and sea lions.

Day 1 Juneau, Alaska – Embarkation

Arriving in Juneau, you will be transferred from the airport to our hospitality area. Upon boarding, your crew greets you with champagne and smiles. Set sail for a week of scenic channels and secluded wilderness.

Days 2-3 Glacier Bay National Park

Accompanied by a National Park Ranger, over your two days in the park you’ll travel nearly 60 miles cruising up-bay to the tidewater glaciers of Grand Pacific and Margerie, which frequently calve huge icebergs into the bay. If conditions permit, we’ll lower the skiff and weave among the icebergs that have fallen from the face of the glaciers. Enjoy an evening at anchor, and mornings paddling your kayak in the quiet of this majestic wilderness. Here in the bay there are puffins and sea lions, mountain goats and bears, moose, eagles, and scenery more spectacular than any place on earth. Glacier Bay is at its best when explored by small groups with unfettered time for treks and kayaking inside the bay and wilderness areas.

Keep watch for the telltale blow of the humpbacks as you scour the nutrient-rich waters in search of whales, porpoise, sea lions, and other wildlife. Join the Captain on the bridge or go on deck with your Expedition Leader. Late afternoon, we’ll drop the skiffs and kayaks for closer inspection of the remote coastline with eyes set on shore for possible bear sightings. This evening, take in the solitude relaxing in the upper deck hot tub or enjoy a nightcap with your fellow yachtmates in the salon.

Day 5 Chichagof Island / Baranof Island

With no binding agenda, today you’ll cruise the waterfall coast of Chichagof Island. Marvel at the grand scenery of Alaska’s wilderness as the crew expertly guides you through those “not in the guidebook” places known only to the locals. This evening, perhaps tucking away in a waterfall-laced fjord, there’ll be time for skiffing, beachcombing or treks ashore, and kayaking to look for sea otters and bears before calling it a day near Baranof Island.

Day 6 Frederick Sound / Stephen’s Passage

Spend the day exploring in Frederick Sound and Stephen’s Passage—another excellent chance to view humpback whales and other marine wildlife. Pass by Five Fingers Lighthouse and watch for playful antics at a large sea lion haulout made from dozens of rocky islets. Later, cruise picturesque bays, where evergreen forests crowd the shores.

Note: The Safari Endeavour also visits Thomas Bay for more scintillating wilderness adventure.

Day 7 Fords Terror / Endicott Arm

Cliff-walled fjords sliced into the mountainous mainland are on tap today as you slowly slip into an area widely acclaimed as the most beautiful in Alaska. With more designated Wilderness Areas than any state in the nation, the finest include Endicott Arm and Fords Terror—a pristine tidal inlet and fjord. Explore this majestic fjord by kayak or skiff, a unique opportunity indeed. View rugged, ice-covered mountains gleaming high overhead and a glacier that actively calves into the ice-filled fjord of Endicott Arm. Toast your voyage with a festive Farewell Dinner,

and before turning in, your Expedition Leaders will share a “photo journal” of your trip together.

Day 8 Juneau – Disembark

Gather for breakfast before returning to historic Juneau. Transfer to the Juneau airport or begin your Un-Cruise hotel stay or land tour. Safe travels to all!

Due to the nature of our explorations, itineraries are guidelines and will change in order to maximize wildlife and natural encounters. Variations in itinerary and the order of days may occur.

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve and remote wilderness exploration highlight this adventure. Spend days cruising among massive icebergs, trekking into wildlife-rich forest, and exploring glacial moraines. Paddle a kayak, SUP, or ride a skiff along a dramatic fjord. Learn about Tlingit culture and go eye-to-eye with wildlife—whales, bears, sea otters, moose, eagles, and rare seabirds.

Day 1 Juneau, Alaska – Embarkation

Welcome aboard! Meet the crew, settle in, and relax with your new mates. In no time you’ll be cruising the scenic channels of the Inside Passage.

Days 2-4 Glacier Bay National Park

One of America’s crown jewel national parks is yours to explore and marvel at for three days—Glacier Bay National Park, a UNESCO Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. A National Park Ranger joins you to explore coves and corners of the bay that most visitors miss. Tidewater glaciers sweep like rivers of ice down massive mountain valleys, terminating before you in the waters of Glacier Bay.

Paddle a kayak and be awed at the face of a massive glacier. Go on a boot-sucking trek through sandbars and rainforest. And ride a skiff along shore for an up-close exploration of Glacier Bay. You’ll find sea lions, mountain goats, sea otters, bears, moose, eagles, and spectacular scenic backdrops. Linger near South Marble Island to spot the many species of rare seabirds that call this area home. Keep your eyes on the water and the island for brightly-colored puffins and Black Oystercatchers. Stop in Bartlett Cove for a visit to the Park Service’s Headquarters.

Day 5 Icy Strait

Set your course for arguably the richest whale waters in Southeast Alaska. Join the Captain on the bridge or the Expedition Leader out on deck in search of marine mammals. Camera in hand, begin your land and sea exploration of these remote reaches. Ride the skiffs for a closer inspection of the rugged and wild coastline with eyes set on shore for possible bear sightings.

Day 6 Chichagof Island / Baranof Island

Meander along the spectacular waterfall coast of Chichagof Island. In the spirit of expedition un-cruising, marvel at the grand scenery as our crew expertly guides you through unsung, glacier-carved fjords. Anchor in remote waters for an opportunity to lower the kayaks and skiffs. Explore the shoreline on an intertidal walk or forest exploration with your guides.

Day 7 Peril Strait / Sergius Narrows

Peril Strait runs 50 miles from Chatham Strait to Salisbury Sound. This haven for small ships is scenically highlighted by a very narrow connecting

passageway called Sergius Narrows and an opening at Hoonah Sound. This historic and wildlife-rich waterway is a great place to watch the shoreline for bears, the waters for otters and whales, and to look skyward for eagles. The passage narrows to only 300 feet in one spot (24 feet deep). After an adventurous, but “un-perilous” day, toast your voyage with a festive Farewell Dinner and a “photo journal” of your trip presented by your Expedition Leaders.

Day 8 Sitka – Disembark

Gather for breakfast this morning as you cruise into Russian-influenced Sitka for disembarkation. Transfer to the airport or begin your Un-Cruise hotel stay or land tour.

Day 1 Juneau, Alaska – Embarkation

Welcome aboard! Meet your crew and get acquainted as you set sail for the Tracy Arm Wilderness.

Day 2 Tracy Arm Wilderness / Frederick Sound

At the end of Tracy Arm, a winding fjord with sheer granite walls, hundreds of cascading waterfalls, and some of the largest icebergs in all of Alaska, sits the twin Sawyer Glaciers—Sawyer and South Sawyer. The fjord is home to brown and black bears, deer, wolves, harbor seals, mountain goats, and birds such as arctic terns and pigeon guillemots. Later, move into Frederick Sound—summer feeding ground for the northern hemisphere’s largest concentration of humpback whales. Keep watch for humpbacks, orca, and Steller sea lions.

Day 3 Thomas Bay

Choose kayaking and a lush forest trek on a scenic rainforest trail, or go big on a roundtrip 11-mile hike to the glacially-fed and rarely visited Patterson Lake for spectacular kayaking in the meltwaters of Patterson Glacier. Day 4 Glacial Landscapes / Wrangell Narrows

Step into the back country of Alaska’s wilderness, in an area known for glaciers and rich in gold and quartz. Explore glacial landscapes marked by moraines, muskegs, and mud. Adventure and natural beauty are sure to please whether you choose kayaking, paddle boarding, skiff riding, or hiking today. An abundance of bright red and green navigation lights guide you along “Christmas Tree Lane” as you cruise the winding Wrangell Narrows this evening.

Day 5 Wrangell

Home to native culture, wildlife, and wonder—Wrangell is one of the oldest towns in Alaska and the only one ever governed by four nations. Before venturing into town, local islanders join you on board for an in-depth presentation on Tlingit and Haida cultures. View recently carved totem poles at Kiksetti Totem Park and step inside the famed and historically significant Chief Shakes Tribal House.

Day 6 Behm Canal

Wildlife abounds in Behm Canal and the surrounding Tongass National Forest—orca, porpoise, seals, sea lions, brown and black bears, mink, marten, eagles, and otters. Paddle along the canal or venture out on an intertidal shore walk or low-elevation trek on the Cleveland Peninsula.

Day 7 Misty Fjords National Monument

Affectionately called “The Yosemite of the North,” Misty Fjords National Monument represents nearly every ecosystem found in Southeast Alaska. Glacial valleys filled with sea water, and sheer 3,000 foot cliffs are a haven for sea birds, brown and black bears, mountain goats, Sitka black-tailed deer, mink, moose, river otters, and other wildlife. Glide through Walker Cove or Rudyerd Bay by kayak or explore by skiff soaking in the splendor of this largely forgotten

corner of the world. This evening, join the Captain in a farewell toast and reminisce about your Alaskan journey over a sumptuous dinner.

Day 4 Chatham Strait

It’s Captain’s Choice today as you explore the intricate passages and shores along Chatham Strait’s Kuiu or Baranof Islands. Join your expedition team on (or in!) the water. Conditions permitting, take to the water by kayak, skiff, or snorkel. Snorkeling-* is optional, but hidden beneath the surface lies a magical array of sea life only seen from below. Take a deep breath and go for it! Today’s discoveries will be within some of the most untouched wilderness of the Tongass National Forest. (*Wilderness boats only)

Day 5 Frederick Sound

Lush forest, spectacular views, play time, and wildlife—they are all in abundance in Frederick Sound. Keep watch along the coastline for birds, wolves, and black bears. With many secluded coves to choose from, you may slip into the waters of Deep Cove, Patterson or Saginaw Bay, or perhaps another hidden gem to explore by skiff or paddle a kayak. Gear up for snorkeling* or guided treks. This evening, toast another day of amazing adventure with a cold microbrew or cocktail. (*Wilderness boats only)

Day 6 The Brothers Islands / Stephen’s Passage

There’ll be plenty of wildlife viewing today. The Brothers, a pair of tiny, rocky islands at the confluence of Stephen’s Passage and Frederick Sound, are home to some of Alaska’s most abundant wildlife, including a haulout for Steller sea lions. The area is also the summer feeding ground for the largest concentration of humpback whales in the northern hemisphere. Keep watch for orca, humpbacks, and porpoise.

Day 7 Endicott Arm / Fords Terror

Snow covered mountains, glowing blues, and the white thunder of calving ice takes your breath away at the face of Dawes Glacier. As

you glide through Endicott Arm you’ll likely find a few seals taking respite on the glacier’s smaller “bergy bits.” Tides permitting, explore the narrow passage of Fords Terror. Join the Captain in a farewell toast during dinner.

Day 4 Canada’s Inside Passage

Quiet reaches, whale watching, yoga on the deck, and engaging presentations fill your day in a landscape of glacially carved fjords and temperate rainforest. Pass by the Great Bear Rainforest and keep a watchful eye for the Kermode “spirit” bear, easily recognized by its white fur. Timing and tides deliver today’s scenic wonders before arriving in Ketchikan, “salmon capital of the world,” where it’s all ashore for a historic tour focused on Ketchikan’s local Tlingit culture. Discover the exceptional art forms of intricately carved totems, enjoy masterful storytelling with a local Tlingit guide, and don’t miss Dolly’s House in the red light district of Creek Street.

Day 6 Wrangell

Established as a fur trading center by the Russians in the early 1800s, Wrangell is the only Alaskan town ever governed by four nations. During the 1800s, it held a strategic location for Gold Rush prospectors and served as the launch point for pioneering conservationist John Muir’s famous glacier expedition. Visit the Wrangell Museum to re-live the town’s colorful past.

on a tour through town before getting underway for an afternoon of whale watching in Frederick Sound and Chatham Strait.

Day 8 Sergius Narrows / Sitka

Amidst the Tongass National Forest, you’ll navigate through Sergius Narrows, the “inside route” to Sitka—Southeast Alaska’s oldest non-Native settlement. A guided walk through Sitka National Historical Park—Alaska’s oldest federally designated park—and the Cathedral of St. Michael’s brings Sitka’s Russian American and Tlingit history to life.

Day 9 Captain’s Choice / Chichagof Island / Icy Strait

Leave it to your Captain to uncover the best opportunities for today’s wilderness adventure. As your ship follows along shore at Chichagof Island and through the northern whale waters of Icy Strait, keep watch for the gentle humpbacks. Feasting on krill. Breaching. Giving you the fluke.

Day 10 Glacier Bay National Park

First established as a National Monument in 1925, Glacier Bay holds the status of National Park, UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. Glaciers unfold front and center today and there are many to choose from—Margerie,

Grand Pacific, Johns Hopkins, or Lamplugh. Cruise by Marble Islands and witness Steller sea lions barking on the rocky haulout. Seabirds also flock to the area—murrelets, puffins, and black-legged kittiwakes are frequent residents. The 15,000-foot peaks of the Fairweather Range drape the skyline.

Day 11 Haines / Skagway

The area thrived for years as an integral trade center to the Chilkat band of Tlingit natives, famous for their intricately designed blankets woven with mountain goat hair and cedar bark. Haines is home to the world’s largest autumnal congregation of bald eagles. Take a ride on the White Pass and Yukon rail and tour the town of Skagway in a signature 1920s-style bus. Wooden boardwalks line the outer edges of the town’s historic buildings where tales of betrayal, fortune, and mystery come alive.

Day 12 Juneau, Alaska – Disembark

Disembark after breakfast for your transfer to the Juneau airport or begin your add-on overnight stay or extended land tour.

Due to the nature of our explorations, itineraries are guidelines and will change in order to maximize wildlife and natural encounters. Variations in itinerary and the order of days may occur.

Home to nearly every ecosystem found in Southeast Alaska—stunning glacial valleys filled with seawater, untouched wetlands and estuaries, and 3,000-foot vertical cliffs that are a haven for wildlife. Soak in the splendor of this largely unknown corner of the world with an up-close look at this majestic, 2.3 million-acre wilderness.

There’ll be plenty of wildlife viewing today. The area is the summer feeding ground for the largest concentration of humpback whales in the northern hemisphere.

Day 14 Endicott Arm / Fords Terror

Be awed by blue ice and the calving white thunder at the face of Dawes Glacier. Tides permitting, explore the narrow passage of Fords Terror to admire magnificent domes. This evening, join the Captain in a farewell toast during dinner.

Formerly known as the “Sandwich Islands”—as named by Captain Cook following his visit in 1778—this archipelago of volcanic islands and atolls sits at the center of the North Pacific Ocean marking the northeast corner of Polynesia. The island chain forms the largest marine sanctuary in the world and one of the world’s most important habitats for humpback whales. Two-thirds of the North Pacific population migrates to Hawaii each winter for breeding, calving, and nursing. We encounter many of these same humpbacks in Alaska where they feed during the summer months.

Explore remote shorelines, mostly staying on the leeward side of the eastern-most Hawaiian Islands chain. Along the way view marine species and endangered animals, many native to the Hawaiian Islands. Experience traditional Hawaiian culture, meet the local people, and discover the islands’ natural gifts in a way only accessible on an Un-Cruise Adventure. Immerse yourself in this tropical wonderland to experience the islands from a different perspective.

On Lana’i, steep rock faces line the coves and ancient volcanic plugs sit both above and below the water surface. Gear up for a day of play. Activities include snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, skiffing, and a stroll along Shipwreck Beach to the petroglyphs. The Humpback National Marine Sanctuary—located between Lana’i, Moloka’i, and Maui—provides front-row seats as you cruise through these productive marine breeding grounds.

sea turtle habitat. Later you’ll be underway in an authentic hand-carved voyaging canoe sailing as the early Polynesian warriors once did.

Day 4 Moloka’i

Enjoy leisure time in the charming paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) town of Kaunakakai and live as the locals do today—visit a plumeria farm and get some sand between your toes on one of Hawaii’s longest beaches . Stop by an organic macadamia nut farm and treat your taste buds with a stop for coffee at a plantation. And at a local museum, discover the history of this ancient homeland as you enjoy an evening pa’ina (feast), complete with a home-style Hawaiian jam session.

Day 5 Moloka’i – Halawa Valley

Hands-on activities await you in the picture book Halawa Valley. “Talk story” with locals and experience their land and traditions as few visitors ever do. Take in a cultural lesson in taro patches, ti leaf lei making, and legends and lore; or hike to a towering waterfall in Halawa’s cathedral valley —one of the island’s most historic places.

Day 6 Kailua-Kona, the Big Island

Skiff to Kealakekua Bay, where Captain Cook was slain in 1779, for some of the island’s best snorkeling. At Kailua-Kona, a guided walking tour unveils this historic town. This evening you’ll anchor at an offshore location to search for and night snorkel with Giant Pacific Manta rays.

Just south of California lies an inland sea known as the Gulf of California, Sea of Cortez, or Sea of Cortés. A birders paradise —this rich archipelago serves as an important bird refuge and migration corridor. It is a place author John Steinbeck found “ferocious with life” and described by Jacques Cousteau as “the aquarium of the world.” And we tend to agree. UNESCO even declared it a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, noting it as one of the most biologically diverse marine environments on Earth.

Discover a world of breathtaking beauty on an island-hopping journey through wildlife-rich waters and on islands that are home to both plants and animals found nowhere else. Coastal mangroves and dunes, along with desert scrub and red rock cliffs provide the backdrop. Swim with playful sea lions, watch whales, and discover a centuries-old mission town. Hike nearby shores, rimmed with white-sand beaches and cactus-clad ridges, then play in impossibly brilliant turquoise waters. To explore this extraordinary place is to know firsthand how small the human presence here truly is.

“It was a truly once in a lifetime experience! Everyone should take this cruise! Saw a blue whale mother and baby. The baby swam right under the skiff!!!

If you are thinking of this cruise, I have two words for you: DO IT!” — Barbara G., Lexington, KY

Day 1 La Paz, Baja California Sur – Embarkation

You will be met at the Los Cabos or La Paz airport for your transfer to the Safari Endeavour. The Captain and crew welcome you aboard just in time for a cocktail and dinner with your new mates.

Day 2 Isla Espíritu Santo

Wake up to a desert island paradise nestled in the gulf ’s rich ecosystem. Kick off your day with a brief orientation, and then it’s all ashore for a day of play. Beachcomb along the shell-strewn shore or hike inland among exotic desert cacti; kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and skiffing are ideal in this important marine habitat. Conditions permitting, there may be a late night snorkel under the stars.

Day 3 Los Islotes / Isla San Francisco

Heave anchor early this morning and set sail for Los Islotes—a steep rocky outcropping leaping straight from the sea. Observe a sea lion colony from the boat and skiff, or slip into a wetsuit to snorkel with agile young sea lions. Swim through a rock arch where orange fan and white fire coral sway in the current, while high overhead, sea birds perch on the cliffs. At Isla San Francisco, a guided hike takes you among a forest of the world’s tallest cactus—the Cardón, or take to the calm waters for play.

Enjoy a lingering brunch then it’s off to shore. Clear waters are bordered by sparse craggy mountains hemmed in green. Explore canyons, enjoy scenic vistas, and experience the “real Baja.” Fill your day with spectacular hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding. If we’re able, there may be a visit with a local ranchero. An evening BBQ makes time for music and sharing stories ashore.

Day 5 Loreto

Loreto, the first Spanish settlement on the Baja California Peninsula, was founded in 1697. A guided tour takes you through the streets and plazas of this picturesque seaside village. Shop for local art and visit its historical buildings and missions. If the gray whales have arrived near Bahia Magdalena—where they’re known to migrate and calve—we’ll offer an optional excursion across the peninsula where you can ride in a panga and observe them in the lagoon. Get underway for an afternoon search for whales, dolphins and flying manta rays, and an evening of stargazing.

Day 6 Whale Watching

Picturesque ledges of pink and orange bluffs and a search for marine life are on tap. With binoculars in hand, keep your eyes peeled for pods of dolphins, blue, fin, sei, orca and sperm whales as they spout and dive in the surrounding waters. Blue-footed boobies, brown pelicans, cormorants, and gulls also make this area their home and on shore you may catch a glimpse of a Costa’s hummingbird or ash-throated flycatchers. Drop anchor in a hidden cove—straight out of a movie set—for a chance to kayak, snorkel, and beachcomb, or to hike an inland sandy valley perfect for identifying animal tracks, or climb a desert rim of breathtaking vistas. There’s even the possibility of a post-dinner swim in a bay sometimes filled with stunning bioluminescence.

Day 7 Captain’s Choice

Leave it to the Captain to uncover today’s magic. Depending on the tides and sightings, you may be snorkeling in crystalline waters; skiffing alongside a pod of bottlenose dolphins; on Isla San Jose exploring the mangroves by kayak or skiff; seeking endemic wildlife on an Isla Catalina hike; or stepping ashore on Isla Coyote, the gulf ’s only inhabited island, to visit with local fishermen. After tonight’s Farewell Dinner, your Expedition Leader recaps the journey with a slideshow.

Roll on, Columbia, roll on. Embrace the American West spirit and encompass both human and natural history. The basin was forged by volcanic eruptions 40-60 million years ago and catastrophic floods near the end of the last ice-age. Inhabited by humans for over 15,000 years, indigenous peoples and tribes have a historical and continual presence here. Waves of explorers like Lewis and Clark and Oregon Trail pioneers charted their way and settled in this land. Then industrialists came along and harnessed the mighty Columbia. In 1943, the Hanford Nuclear Reservation—the world’s first full-scale nuclear reactor—was established as part of the Manhattan Project.

Today, you can sail upriver alongside golden coulees, high desert, and steep gorges. A range of vegetation, from Western hemlock in the moist regions to sagebrush in the arid country and stretches of orchards and vineyards, are strewn across the land. Supporting several species of wildlife and migrating fish, the rivers have allowed steamships to link communities and facilitate trade. Today, the dams along the Columbia produce more hydroelectric power than those of any other North American river.

“The crew was very engaging. Made us feel like part of the family. Food was out of this world. Thanks for making this cruise possible for us and showing us such a good time.”“

Day 3 Richland, Washington / Snake River Cruising

After an early morning transit of the McNary Dam, you’ll arrive in Richland, at the confluence of the Yakima, Columbia, and Snake Rivers. Hillsides reveal the orchards of over 160 wineries found within the region in appellations such as Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain, and Yakima Valley. Learn about the Hanford Nuclear Reservation and its role in World War II’s Manhattan Project. Returning to the boat for lunch, view the surrounding wheat fields and pass by massive wind farm turbines atop the hills. Observe the intricacies of locking through Ice Harbor Dam, followed by the Lower Monumental Dam. Step back in time with colorful stories about pioneer hardships and triumphs.

Day 4 Clarkston / Hells Canyon

After your final upriver locking at the Lower Granite Dam, you’ll dock in Clarkston to delve into the history and culture of the Nez Perce people. Historical sites connected to the Lewis and Clark Expedition abound in this area, including Clark’s first encounter with the Nez Perce in 1805. Board a covered jet boat for an invigorating ride into Hells Canyon. This free-flowing river, hemmed in by vertical cliffs, cuts its way through North America’s deepest river gorge at 7,993 feet. Protected as a National Recreation Area since 1975, Hells Canyon preserves a world of fascinating natural and cultural elements. Keep your eyes peeled for bighorn sheep, hawks, and 7,000-year-old Indian petroglyphs. This evening marks your return downriver for a vibrant combination of Lewis and Clark history, river lore, and wine.

Day 5 Walla Walla

A visit to Fort Walla Walla celebrates the “Cradle of Northwest History” with a pioneer village, Living History presentations, museum, and extensive galleries.

Recognized internationally for its award-winning wines, turn your attention to the vibrant wine making industry that thrives in and around Walla Walla. This world-class wine country was shaped by its desert-like conditions, rich volcanic terroir, and controlled river irrigation. Enjoy the pride of this appellation with a tour and tasting at one of the region’s distinctive wineries.

Day 6 The Dalles, Oregon

It’s a day of culture at the Maryhill Museum and Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. With its eclectic collection of European paintings, Native artifacts, and the Queen of Romania’s personal effects, the museum’s collection is housed in a castle-like chateau situated on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. The Discovery Center’s interactive exhibits provide a life-sized look into the area’s volcanic upheavals and severe flooding; Ice Age; pioneers and missionaries; and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Take in the magnificent scenery traveling the Sam Hill Highway back to the Safari Legacy. Transit The Dalles—another of the eight dams harnessing these mighty rivers.

European settlements brought smallpox to the area in the 1770s, by the 1840s the Hudson Bay Company was heavily trading in the Pacific Northwest, and in 1846, the Oregon Treaty established the boundary between Canada and the United States to lie in the middle of the Salish Sea.

In 2009, the Canadian and United States governments officially approved the name Salish Sea for their collective bodies of water, naming it after the Coast Salish peoples of the region. From Puget Sound in the south, through the waters surrounding Washington’s San Juan Islands, the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, to stunning Princess Louisa Inlet, and charming seaside towns, nature’s wonders are evident in this yachter’s paradise. Explore the Salish Sea and witness Mother Nature’s role in creating some of the most dramatic scenery along coastal Washington and British Columbia.

“It was so much more than we had expected. The trip was fantastic. We saw so many whales, sea lions, eagles, and a bear too! Best vacation we have ever had.”

— Mary Sue S., Leesburg, VA

u San Juan Islands u Friday Harbor u

Unleash your inner explorer in the Salish Sea—sail through dramatic scenery in Washington’s San Juan Islands, British Columbia’s Gulf Islands, and the stunning Princess Louisa Inlet. Orca whales search for salmon while seals and sea lions lounge on rocky islets. Wildlife flourishes where evergreen forests fall steeply to the waters. And whether it’s High Tea at Victoria’s Butchart Gardens, browsing shops and galleries in charming Friday Harbor and Nanaimo, or kayaking along wilderness fjords, you’ll find a world rich in nature and culture waiting.

Day 1 Seattle, Washington – Embarkation

Transfer to Seattle’s historic Fishermen’s Terminal, where the crew greets you with champagne and smiles. Soon after departing, you’ll be lowered 20 feet from freshwater Lake Union to the saltwater of Puget Sound as you transit the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. Enjoy cocktail hour and dinner before nestling in to a remote anchorage for the evening.

Day 2 Victoria, British Columbia & Butchart Gardens

After clearing customs, it’s all ashore for free time in downtown Victoria. Take in a visit to the elegant Empress Hotel, Royal British Columbia Museum, or browse the quaint shops nuzzled about this garden city. Later, travel by coach to Butchart Gardens for High Tea and to enjoy some of the garden’s 52-acres of botanical wonder. Back on board the yacht, set sail through the Gulf Islands and settle into the rhythm of the Salish Sea.

LUXURY ADVENTURES include – All onboard meals; premium spirits, wine, beer; exclusive transfers and baggage handling between airport/boat; port fees and taxes; entry fees to national parks/preserves; all from-the-boat adventure activities and equipment; hot tub, yoga

Day 3 Harmony Islands

Discover nature’s wonders today off the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. Kayak and skiff rides keep you busy in sheltered Buccaneer Bay—home to sea lions, tide pools, driftwood, and a superb spot for birding. The word “Skookumchuck” means strong water in Chinook, and at Skookumchuck Rapids, one of the largest saltwater rapids on Canada’s west coast, trek two miles on an easygoing ramble in the forest.

Day 4 Princess Louisa Inlet

After passing through the Malibu Rapids, you’ll enter the calm waters of Princess Louisa Inlet, one of the most beautiful locations on Earth. Princess Louisa Inlet, only half a mile wide and walled in by 5,000-foot, near-vertical mountains, culminates at the tremendous Chatterbox Falls. Anchor in the inlet for exploration on foot and by kayak.

Day 5 Jervis Inlet

Set the morning aside for paddling or exploring the inlet by skiff before heading out in the “yachter’s paradise” of Jervis Inlet. With binoculars in-hand, keep all eyes open for orca, porpoise, seals, and sea lions along the rocky shoreline as you cruise through the waters of Princess Royal Reach and around Jedediah Island—the most diverse in a chain of more than thirty islands and islets in the area.

Day 6 Nanaimo / Gulf Islands

After crossing the Strait of Georgia, pay a visit to the artistically laced city of Nanaimo—also dubbed, “Bathtub Racing Capital of the World.” Stroll along the scenic waterfront promenade and marina of this early trading post and uncover its storied past. Returning to the yacht, your passage carries you south, back into the protected waters of the Gulf Islands and towards Washington’s San Juan Islands.

Day 7 Washington’s San Juan Islands / Friday Harbor

An early start has you meandering through the San Juan Islands—172 islands and rocky islets make up this archipelago. On the largest of the islands, San Juan Island, you’ll clear customs in the tiny town of Friday Harbor before a visit to the intriguing Whale Museum. Learn about the resident pods of orca that call these island waters home before getting underway for “gunkholing,” or exploring, as landlubbers would say. The scenery is stunning and the passages are just right. Be on watch for orca and other marine wildlife. Following a festive Captain’s Farewell Dinner, enjoy a picturesque recap of the week with your Expedition Leader.

Day 8 Seattle – Disembark

After breakfast on board, the Captain and crew bid you a fond farewell. A transfer to the Seattle airport is included. Safe travels to all!

Traveling by small yacht or expedition vessel enables us to get up close to nature and wildlife in some of the most scenic areas of the world. While delivering exceptional access to these areas, we realize our presence has an impact. We look for ways to lessen our footprint on the environment. From replacing engines for more efficient models to ensuring we’ve made arrangements in each port for recycling, our teams on board and ashore work together to operate responsibly.

A key part of operating a responsible business is ensuring we leave a positive impact on the communities we visit. This core value is part of our initial itinerary planning on through to operations management and office practices. Alaska GeographicAlaska Geographic connects people with Alaska’s magnificent wildlands. As a non-profit, they create a community of stewards for Alaska’s cherished public lands, believing that the more people come to know, experience, and learn about Alaska’s amazing parks, forests, and refuges, the more they’ll care about their future. Their long-standing partnership with Alaska’s land management agencies make it possible to directly connect with the many visitors, residents, and users of Alaska’s public lands.

Chefs CollaborativeChefs Collaborative works with chefs and the greater food community to celebrate local foods and foster a more sustainable food supply. The Collaborative inspires action by translating information about food into tools for making knowledgeable purchasing decisions. Through these actions, members embrace seasonality, preserve diversity and traditional practices, and support local economies.

Slow Food USASlow Food is an idea, a way of living, and a way of eating. It is a global grassroots movement with thousands of members around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment. Through national advocacy, local projects, and bringing people together through food, Slow Food USA members and supporters are making it easier to access real food that is good for us, good for those who produce it, and good for the planet.
