Conference JUNE 2 – JUNE 4, 2013

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 27th Annual NRJE conference at the Jewish Theological Seminary. We at the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education, as well as our colleagues in the Rabbinical and Cantorial Schools, List College and the Graduate School, are proud and privileged to have you with us at our dynamic JTS campus. We are especially pleased that so many students are joining us from our own MA and EdD programs and from programs around the world.

We hope that you feel at home at JTS. Some practical information:

Breakfast and lunch will be served in the Alperin Lobby.

Most of the sessions will take place in four locations: the Mendelson Convocation Center (off the Alperin Lobby), the “Seminar Room” (up the steps from the Alperin Lobby) and Kripke 306 and 506 (take the main elevator).

There are a few places where you can relax or meet such as the second floor lounge near the library, the students’ lounge on the second floor and the courtyard and second floor terrace.

If you need a phone, computer, copy machine, or a printer, please stop by the Davidson School office, Brush 520, located on the fifth (5) floor of the Brush building. Julie Goodman and Rosemary Raymond will be happy to assist you.

To reach JTS you can take subway train number 1 and get off at the 116th street station, and then walk six blocks north on the east side of Broadway. Or, you can get off at 125th street and walk three block south on the east side of Broadway. You can also take buses number M4 and M104; both have stops right on the corner of 122nd street and Broadway, directly in front of JTS.

We are excited that the conference has arrived and that all the hard work and plan-ning has come to fruition. It has been a delight to work with Jonathan Krasner and Beth Lutzker-Levick on the program and to know that we have three days of exciting research presentations ahead of us.

With warm JTS regards, Ofra Backenroth and Meredith Katz

Welcome to the 27th Annual Conference

of the Network for Research in Jewish Education. We look forward to a fascinating conference as we

convene academics, practitioners and researchers from many disciplines and institutions to share the latest studies

in the field of Jewish educational research.

As in previous years, sessions follow three formats:

PANEL SESSION: Papers presenting completed work

SPOTLIGHT SESSION: Interactive session about key issues in Jewish education

CONSULTATION: Collegial discussion of research in progress or preliminary findings

The conference promises to be an exciting venue for exchanging ideas and research findings, and for networking with fellow

Jewish education professionals. We are pleased to have you participate.
