2013 TEAM & CORE RANGEPRESS RELEASEWWW.AIRUSH.COM

INTRODUCING THE AIRUSH 2013 COLLECTION

We have spent another year infusing our passion for kiteboarding and design into our new product range. The outcome – as we hope you’ve come to expect – is a new level of attention to detail, refinement and real innovation.

Building on the success of key kite models such as the Lithium, Varial –X and Razor, we have evolved the products as much as possible for 2013, while making significant steps in further developing the Smartbar.

Introducing a completely new model to our surf range with the Cypher, we worked with Bear Karry to combine his love of strapless riding and surfing into a model that excels in the real world of light winds or less-than-perfect wave conditions. This is complemented by our new dedicated Wave kite, featuring our groundbreaking Aramid Load Frame which combines key flying characteristics not found in the market before.

Three years ago when we introduced the first Sector, we had some idea of the potential of this market. This scene has exploded and we have been able to evolve the carving and race side of the directional market simultaneously.

Lead by our teams’ passion for freestyle as the cutting edge of expression, we now introduce an evolution of the FS team and Razor team (featuring the Aramid Load frame) alongside an all-new Livewire – as the new breed of wakestyle.

Ultimately every product has its highlights, tweaks and changes to add to your riding experience. We look forward to sharing another year of stoke.

Enjoy the new collection.

After winning numerous magazine tests, and receiving extremely positive feedback from our Airush customers, the Airush Lithium has created a legion of followers. As the front-runner in all-terrain kites, the Lithium is focused on being the do-all kite for the everyday rider. Due to its wing tip and strut positioning, the Lithium has a direct and agile feel through the turns – essential for wave and freeriding. The sweep of the Delta Hybrid Design wingtips guarantees a hassle-free and quick relaunch. The Lithium is ideal for riders looking to do a bit of everything – whether it’s your first day, cruising, freestyle or riding waves! 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 12 | 14

Lithium One (16m Only) The ultimate lightwind freeride kite, using innovative One Strut technology, the Lithium One 16m utilizes weight-saving concepts to create a whole new Lithium 16m for 2013; devoted to extremely light wind conditions. The drastic reduction in weight improves the relaunch, turning and stability, which is the essential focus of lightwind riding.

Introducing the SL-C concept – the Varial X is known for C-Kite performance on a four-line high depower platform. The SL-C has been designed with a C-shape arc outline for direct response and great unhooking characteristics, while the swept back wingtips and V3 bridle give great range and relaunch capabilities. This year, the Varial X has evolved by offering greater predictability, depower and four-line ease of use with an increased focus on unhook, pop and boosting elements. An important part of the Varial X’s improvement is added structural support – greatly maximizing the direct feel and performance. Ideal for riders with aggressive handling in the waves, for freestyle and freeride, the Varial X will give you the C-Kite feel you have been looking for in an SLE design. 6 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 12 | 14

The Supported Leading Edge C-Kite (SL-C) is dedicated to riders who want everything from four-line unhooked performance to high depower. The SL-C concept gives a C-shape arc, which delivers great turning and direct response in combination with Support Leading Edge range and relaunching characteristics. The SL-C has the benefits of both worlds in one concept.

The VXR is perfect for seasoned competitors and everyday dragsters. Gaining results in the 2011 Female North American and European Championships and 2011 Male KTE France and Spain Grand Masters – the VXR has been a top contender on the national and international circuit. Mark Pattison takes the kite to new areas of possibility, having spent numerous hours developing with the Airush race division. The result: an even more refined and competitive machine that points higher upwind and speeds faster downwind in the lightest of conditions.10 | 13 | 15 | 17

In 2013, Airush brings the DNA to the masses in a plug-and-play package that gets you on the water and ripping in no time! Using the platform of the highly successful Lithium, the DNA keeps riders from entry level to advanced in mind with the stability and simplicity of a Delta Hybrid shape – ensuring a fast and easy relaunch. Incorporating the V3 Bridle, the DNA offers safe amounts of wind range and instant depower, in order to maximize those days on the water.135 | 140

Plug and play performance ensure ease of use from your first ride. Single Concave bottom shape with moderate three-stage outline keeps the Vox smooth and comfortable, while allowing easy changes of direction. An AFT Core 3D Molded Footbed with quick-fit base plate allows for simple assembly and adjustment. The Vox also features dual screw G10 Fins and ultra durable construction (2 year breakage warranty) with a lightweight Biotech core.4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14

The AFT Core strap and pad system harmoniously incorporates the comfort of the AFT molded pad with the simplicity of a Velcro-fastening system, offering wide support around the foot, and custom stance options. The AFT Core is a sure favorite among riders of all levels.

The Switch provides the benchmark in freeride performance, from beginner to advanced riders.

The progressive flex curve is achieved through a combination of a tapered ABS rail, refined deck profile, abs flex tips and the biotech core. The three-stage rocker and outline perform in synergy to offer a combination of upwind performance and comfort at speed – the result being the smoothest of rides and absolute refinement.130 | 135 | 138 | 142 | 146

Developed with our pro team to be the most versatile board on the market – the key being the dual rocker bottom that provides a combination of quick planning, edging control and upwind performance not often found in a higher rocker design. Ideal for freestyle, wakestyle and aggressive freeride. Shipped standard with AFT Teams and compatible with most modern bindings.132 | 135 | 138 | 142

The AFT Team combines dual Velcro closure, and integrated molded EVA arms without AFT Footbed. This provides maximum comfort and durability, which top riders such as Alex Pastor and Bas Koole need for those endless sessions. Easy entry allows riders to quickly adjust the strap, while the double Velcro closure customizes the tension of the front and back of the strap, adjusting to different foot shapes.

At six inches shorter than your regular board, the Compact fits into every section of a wave imaginable; while at the same time has the stability and drive to deal with high wind and bigger wave conditions.

The vee bottom in the tail area allows for smooth rail-to-rail transitions, while the wider nose area in the entry of the board helps increase planning speed over flat sections. This maintains the low end that a rider would find in a longer board. Its narrow tail and reduced hip give it more control in high wind, which in conjunction with the bottom shape ensure the smoothest drive in the toughest conditions.5’4” | 5’6” | 5’8”

Developed specifically for the advanced wave purist looking for a dedicated down-the-line board, the high rocker single concave shape delivers perfectly. The Converse is ideal for cross/cross-offshore wind conditions in medium to large surf.

The kite-specific construction offers significant reinforcing over a traditional surfboard. 5’11” | 6’1” | 6’3”

The Key to the Active Stringer’s strength is the stiff and ultra lightweight carbon I-beam through the centre of the board. This prevents the board from over-flexing and damaging the laminate when flexing beyond working range. The secret to the Active Technology flex is the high memory polypropylene layer that allows the full biaxial carbon skins to flex and compress within the working range. The combination gives a perfect blend of maximum flex with maximum durability.

The 2013 bar end features Soft Touch – a PU coated casing which provides protection for riders and their boards – as well as the built-in bar adjuster which gives an extra 3.5cm of quick adjustment on both sides. The structure of the 2013 bar end also increases the strength of the entire piece, resulting in a more reliable, durable part.

The 2013 Airush Team Series marks the 3rd year of designing products specifically for the Airush Pro Team, pushing the level and limits of performance. This range is a testament of what kiteboarding can achieve through new construction designs, like the Aramid Load Frame technology as well as use of carbon through our Active surf, Quad and Dual carbon constructions. Developing some of the lightest, responsive, and highest performing equipment on the market – the 2013 Airush Team Series.

As a dedicated five-line kite, the Razor attracts C-Kite enthusiasts, freestyle fanatics and wave purists with its high-end performance. Designed by two-time Vice World Champion Alex Pastor, 2009 World Champion Bruna Kajiya, Dutch Champion Bas Koole, and up-and-coming rookie Oswald Smith – the 2013 Airush Razor retains the C-Kite feel and performance that wakestyle and freestyle riders need. While retaining its famous pop/ unhooked abilities and kite looping, the Razor boasts great range and comfort for everyday riders. Never before has a kite delivered such high levels of performance within easy reach of intermediate riders. Now available in Bullet Proof Construction featured only on the Razor Team, the new Razor is built and tested to minimize impact-related damages and enhance responsiveness throughout the entire kite.5.5 | 7 | 9 | 11 | 13

The Airush Wave is the ultimate choice for serious surf riders. What makes the Airush Wave unique from others in its class is the Bullet Proof Construction, ensuring stability and strength throughout the entire canopy. The Wave manages all the abuse that Mother Nature and you, the rider, can throw at it. The Wave has excellent drifting capabilities that are absolutely necessary for riding in and out of critical sections. The large surface area in the wingtips creates a kite that steers quickly, while the SL-C shape and reduced LE diameter ensure smooth power delivery during bottom turns, and allows the kite to fly forward in the window – enhancing the unhooked performance. The Airush Wave is the definition of perfection, for all types of surf riding.6 | 9 | 12

The Protoy is designed for the rider looking for refined freestyle performance with riding comfort, which is normally only found in a freeride board. The secret lies in the unique double-concave bottom combined with a continuous rocker and three-stage outline, allowing the Protoy to work perfectly in just about any conditions. The shape performs in conjunction with the high level of damping and response found in our multi-zone Biotech core, combined with the Full Dual Carbon construction. 132 | 135 | 138

D U A L C A R b O NThe Dual Carbon Biotech construction offers an incredible combination of reduced weight with high durability in an intermediate flex board. The additional stiffness of the full Carbon fiber top and bottom layer allow us to reduce the core thickness and materials used, leading to a significant weight saving over a glass board. Both top and bottom decks feature a durable PPT top sheet layer to protect the laminate.

The FS Team has been developed to be the ultimate kiteboard on the market. Unique innovations in lamination, construction and core technology have enabled us to offer a product that is simply lighter and more responsive at the stiffness required from a dedicated freestyle board. This unique development is the result of a complete rethink of the production process, along with the huge innovation found in the quad-layer multiaxial 100% carbon construction.130 | 135 | 140

Q U A D C A R b O N b I O T E C HThe Airush Quad Carbon Biotech construction is a vertical wood core sandwich – containing a Paulownia core with ABS rail and tips. Through significant development of the quad layer multiaxial 100% carbon construction, we have been able to reduce overall weight for the same relative stiffness by up to 40%. However, the true secret to its performance is felt in the refinement of the response, where the four carbon layers are directionally optimized for torsion and longitudinal response. The result is an incredible combination of explosive pop, improved control on landing and increased ride comfort.

The 5’4” combines the performance of a small wave surfboard with an incredible throw-around factor. The 5’4” features a concave deck for low centre of drive and improved strapless performance. The 5’6” is the perfect all-round performer; the medium volume ensures great performance in a diverse range of onshore to cross-onshore conditions. Ideal for medium to heavier and lightwind riders, the 5’8” absolutely rips while having enough buoyancy for paddle surfing for an advanced 85 kg rider in small surf (up to shoulder height). The 5’10” has a unique design, pushing the envelope of extreme lightwind wave performance by allowing you to ride aggressively in the most marginal conditions. At the same time, the 5’10” Cypher has wave-engineered heritage which ensures significant crossover surf potential. 5’4” | 5’6” | 5’8 | 5’10
