Ventura County Star readers have spoken with their
ballotsOxnard, Port Hueneme, Ventura, Oak View, Ojai, Santa Paula,
Fillmore and Piru) or full county. The next highest vote recipients
in each category, up to five, were named as Readers Choice
Favorites, again, either with an east county, west county or full
county designation. From the ballots received, a separate contest
was held. To thank those readers who participated, The Star
conducted a drawing of the names of those who cast votes. The 2013
Readers Choice Contest winners are as follows: First place: Joey

Enclosed in these pages are the results of the annual Ventura
County Star Readers Choice survey. You, our readers, have picked
your favorites in 128 categories of food and services throughout
the county and surrounding area. This is one of the largest Readers
Choice sections in the 18 years The Star has been publishing it.
For the fourth-straight year, balloting was conducted online only
and occurred over a three-week period in January and February.
Besides the number of pages, records were set in the number of
votes (134,688) and number of ballots (7,304). The winners in each
category were chosen for east Ventura County (comprised of Newbury
Park, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Simi Valley
and Moorpark), west Ventura County (comprised of Camarillo,

business as Skiffs Cakes. At that time, they focused their
