tangata!”• What is the most important thing in the

world? It is people, it is people, it is people!

In Year In Year • We will be looking at the CHOICES

that people make• There will be many topics studied under this

theme throughout the year• We will also look at Current Events happening

in New Zealand and around the world

TopicsTopics• We will study one of the following in each term:

Content• Each topic will cover New Zealand as well as

many other examples from different times and places

• Each topic will include some study of important people that have had a particular impact on others

• The content within the topics may vary depending on your interests

• Is about how governments are made, how they work and how they affect people’s lives

• Is about how people get along with one another, whether or not they do, how they can, and the consequences of this for others

• Is about why people move, and the effect this has on them, their families and the places they both leave and go to

• Is about the decisions people make, how their decisions can affect other people and how the decisions of others can affect them

Expectations• Keep your work organised and up to date in your

book or folder• Homework will generally only be work or

assignments that have not been finished during class time

• Keep up with Current Events in preparation for weekly quizzes

• There will be assessments, which may be tests, for each topic as well as other tasks that will need to be handed in

• Always try to have a go at everything to the best of your ability

• Don’t be afraid to talk to the teacher if there are any issues!
