2013 Thomas Goss Adelaide Hills, Australia Riesling

The Thomas Goss name is synonymous with high-quality wine inAustralia.

Goss, his wife Mary and their children arrived in South Australia fromDevonshire in 1849. Like many, they had relocated to take part in the Australian GoldRush, and after making a small fortune, the family established what would becomean iconic farming property.

Today, that land is home to some of the region’s most acclaimed vineyards. The Thomas Goss label, under the direction of winemaker Ben Riggs, pays tribute tothe contributions that Goss made to the region. The 2013 Riesling carries an AdelaideHills designation, and that’s an area known, in particular, for being accommodating tocool-climate varieties.

This vintage is zesty and mildly spritzy, exhibiting a floral aroma and anabundance of fruit flavor. It’s a tasty tribute to a true Aussie agricultural pioneer — aman who helped lay the groundwork for the country’s wine industry.
