USAC Racing FAQ What's my racing age? Your age on December 31, 2013. All ages referred on this page would be your racing age. Which races I am eligible to enter? Racers 19 and older race in Senior races for Men (SM) and Women (SW). Senior races may be further restricted by a minimum age (i.e. SW 35+) and/or an ability category (i.e. SM 4-5). First time Men racers are category 5 and first time Women racers are Category 4. Racers under age 19 may race in the appropriate SM or SW categories. There is no discount for Juniors. First time Women racers enter SW 4, SW 35+, 4, SW 45+, SW 55+, or SW 65+. First time men racers enter SM 4-5, SM 35+, 4-5, SM 45+, 4-5, SM 55+, or SM 65+. USAC License and BRAC Membership The racing community is served by USA Cycling and the Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado with insurance, regulation, officials, coordination, and equipment. These organizations are supported by the racing community in part through a USAC racing license and membership in BRAC. You may purchase a 1 Day USAC license for $10 when you register. If you race with a USAC 1-Day license you *do not* need to purchase a 1 Day BRAC membership. You may also purchase an annual USAC license at usacycling.org and indicate you would like a BRAC membership at the same time. How much will it cost a first timer to race the Boulder Orthopedics Time Trial? Juniors race FREE but still need to buy a USAC license (1 Day or annual) and a BRAC membership (1 Day or annual). Juniors $0.00 registration fee, $10 USAC 1 Day license, $5 BRAC 1 Day membership = $15 This applies for both ITT and the TTT ITT SM/SW $27.50 registration fee, $10 USAC 1 Day license = $37.50 TTT SM/SW $20.00 registration fee, $10 USAC 1 Day license = $30.00/rider A single USAC 1 Day license is good for all the races you enter on race day. Yes, you can race the ITT and the TTT and only pay for a single 1-Day USAC license. What is a TTT The Team Time Trial is a time trial in teams of 5 for men or 4 for Women and Juniors. The team time is recorded when the rear wheel of the 3rd team member (men) or 2nd team member (women and juniors) crosses the finish. While new racers are eligible to enter a TTT you should plan to practice with your team well in advance of race day. A TTT is a very hard event and it is very common for a team to drop 1 or more riders during the race. It's also a very rewarding feeling when a team rides well together.
