The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), on Wednesdau, urged Ndigbo to declare their support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a result of the involvement of the Late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, in the party formation. In a press statement issued to newsmen in Awka, Anambra State and signed by MASSOB/BLF Director of Communication, Chief Nnaemeka Okeke, MASSOB said because Ojukwu was the founder/national leader of APGA, the Ndigbo should support APGA, adding that “besides, APGA is one of Ojukwu’s legacies that must be jealously protected.” MASSOB also called on Ndi Anambra and Nidgbo in general to continue to uphold Ojukwuism and Ojukwu’s legacy anywhere they may find themselves, stressing that Ojukwu, as the father and oracle of Ndigbo, must be respected, honoured and appreciated without reservation. The statement contended that every tribal region in Nigeria has its own based political parties that protected their cultures, traditions, pride and social values, adding that “Ndigbo cannot afford to allow strange parties with strange agenda and interest to prevail in Igbo land.” According to the statement, “Any political party without Igbo root and blood is anti-Igbo. We can never sacrifice the pride, culture, identity, language and traditions of Ndigbo to Yoruba/Hausa-Fulani just to satisfy few Igbos who sold their conscience to our enemies. “Enough is enough to those who secretly opened our doors to our enemies who can never allow our Igboism to flourish in their own land. “Concerning the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, we declared our support and votes for APGA and we call upon every Igboman/woman in Anambra State to massively vote for APGA/Ojukwu.” MASSOB also commended Governor Peter Obi for naming Anambra State University after Ojukwu, describing it as an honour well deserved. All efforts to get in touch with MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Uchenna Madu, to confirm the authenticity of this press statement proved abortive as his phone rang several times without response.
