DEAF VISION TOMORROWDEAF NEED GROWTH

[SIDEBAR TITLE]

The two days Indian International Deaf Film Festival created a platform to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobile the support for dignity, rights and well being of persons with disabilities , Which commenced at the Tagore Centenary hall, Kozhikode on 5th and 6th July 2014, was an emotionally experience for all those who attended it . Every silent short film screened spoke loud about the talented crew behind its production.

The festival supported by CBM, Bangalore, and organized by DEAF LEADERS FOUNDATION, Coimbatore hosted by National Deaf Family Care, Pattambi, featured around 50 movies made by deaf persons in various categories such as 1-minute, 5-minute, 15-minute and 30-minute. 6 of them were international films.

INAUGURAL DAY FUNCTION: Kozhikode Corporation Mayor A K Premanjam inaugurated the festival at the function attended by A. Pradeep Kumar MLA and P.V. Gangadharan , Chairman of KTC and first vice president of the Federation of International Film Producers Association also Organizing Committee of IIDFF , Guest of Honour by Darwin Moses, Program officer of CBM, Bangalore. An expert panel comprising Sakeela Leuenberger of Charity World, Switzerland, and Assistant Director in Bollywood, Sangeeta Gala, and actor Alias T Mathew, Interpreter professional Amresh Gopalkrishnan also special guest Sibaji Panda , Lecture of APPLIED SIGN LANGUAGE STUDIES, UK were entrusted with the task of selecting the winners of film festival.

“The hearings impaired are not somebody who shut themselves in the four walls of their house only because they don’t have the ability to hear. They are equally creative and talented. Awareness, Abuse, Sign Language, Education, Love, humour, dishonesty and many other thought provoking emotions are logically portrayed in the films.”

Indian 30 minute film category Malayalam film Verpadu , directed by Henry, bagged three awards of best film, best Actor, and best Director , Retreat from UK bagged the award for the best film in the International category. Hungry , directed by Prathibha from Mumbai, bagged the award for the best 1-minute film while “ Love forever” was chosen the best 5-minute movie. The Moment was selected the best 15-minute movie and making positive for Deaf people.

Sign Language Grammar DVD projects by DEAF LEADERS FOUNDATION and Initiative Supported by CBM was released by Mrs. Brightta Prema , Executive Program office, CBM, Bangalore

The deaf students of Tiruppur School of the Deaf gave a splendid contemporary dance performance to mark the opening the ceremony.

All arrangements including Breakfast, Tea & Snack, Lunch, Evening Tea, Dinner, Stationeries, pen, pad, Gifts, Mementos, Certificates, ID cards,

Professionalism & Interpreters TA/DA and all other expenses are met by the Organizing Committee of India Deaf Film festival.

To publication of many TV media and press also magazine have interviewed from Kozhikode.

More than 350 delegates took part in the festival.

Disappointed due to lack of major sponsorship for this festival from Kerala from the companies and Rotary International so unable raise fund a supporting for building the college in Pattabmi .

Cash awards & Trophies distributed by Mrs. Brightta Prema , Executive Program office, CBM, Bangalore, Mr. Sanker Jayyer, Asst. HR , KFC and leaders of many organizations.

International Deaf Day – 1ST DAY

Awareness on We tell you to learn on Sign Language

World Deaf Day is celebrating every last week of September for

awareness program and Deaf people makes proud of empowerment

in world.

One day awareness on We tell you to learn on Sign Language held at

Coimbatore on 26th September 2014, organized By DEAF LEADERS in

associated with Hotel Annpoorna , Coimbatore, support in the form

of event sponsorship and The Hindu” in the form of Media

sponsorship.

Youth Deaf Development members’ 30nos interested to teach

hearing peoples at hotel Annapoorna 8 branches in North

Coimbatore, RS Puram, Sai Baba colony, Arts college road, cut cross

road and Ganapathy from 9.30 to 6 pm.

Sign Language picture papers of 10,000 nos given to publication.

Hearing people’s keen learning on sign language.

We thanks hotel Annpoorna to support us and permit to use the hotel

premises.

Sri Lanka Deaf suffered tour in

India to be Supported by DEAF

LEADERS Foundation.

Sri Lanka 8 nos deaf team to inform us that they had stayed here with some unfortunate incidents. They

reached Coimbatore on 14th September with only Rs. 7,500 cash in their hand. They have to spend India Rs.

50,000 including accommodation, food, sightseeing, etc so Deaf Leaders Foundation have helped them for

free accommodation and food provision with the available cash. Their stay was comfortable, and happy.

The 8 Deaf people of srilanka have reached their home safely after the 23 days tour in India .

School of the Deaf, R.S. Puram , Coimbatore .

event and paper, colour pencils provided to them, This programme

sponsored by R. Rajamanickam Memorial & Family, Bangalore.

2nd Tamil Nadu Deaf Cricket T 20 Cup were be held at Bharthiyar

University and Forest College & GCT , Coimbatore on 21st & 22nd

February 2015 , This is organized by DEAF LEADERS FOUNDATION , in

associated with Department of Physical Education , Bharathiyar

University and other colleges and supported by Tamil Nadu Sports

Council of the Deaf & Coimbatore District Cricket Association, co-

Sponsor by Rotary Club of international Coimbatore along with 7 Rotary

districts

Almost all the 8 Districts of Tamil Nadu will be represented in the cricket

trophy on the day. The total number of participants have been 120

consisting of Deaf from Tamil Nadu. To select a contingent of 17 cricket

player of Tamil Nadu including coach and manager of Tamil Nadu to

participate in National Cricket Championship of the Deaf to be held at

venue ( Announce later )

THE SPECIAL CLASSES FOR DEAF

STUDENTS AT OUR CENTRE

Deaf Leaders Institute Numbers of students joined in training programme from April 2014 to March 2015 were 10 students and special training for vocational training were 10 students total 20

Special Training (Literacy English Class) – Deaf students are given fundamental English from ABCD alphabets and they are now able to read and write in English. There involvements is very impressive and given good result.

Higher Education & Resource Library - All the deaf are studied in the normal school / College they are not able to understand the lecture given by the teacher / professional in voice, so the entire syllabise are teached them by sign language. In our hard work the entire batch of deaf are scored good marks in their subjects. More and more deaf students are enrol their names for the coming study holiday period.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Vocational Special Training ( Computer training) – after 1st phase of vigorous training in computer operation

they can now typing in good speed and can setting, designing frame works, now they are trained for job work undertaken for their daily earning.

Vocational Special training ( Cooking, & Baking training) – Like cooking & baking- periodical cooking & baking training given in our DL institute, entire south Indian dishes and fast food preparation are practice now they become specialised cookers in their home. Some of the deafs are placed small hotels as assistant cook.

Explore Internet- The modern telecommunication use age of internet very well useful of deaf person. They can interrogate with the world level deaf personalities as day to day affairs. Now the entire world is in their hands.

SIGN LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Sign Language Development – Because of our teams are well versed in teaching sign language with more than

ten years’ experience, we plan to teach the sign language in proper methods. They are up to mark and able to teach the sign language to others. Now they can travel anywhere in the world without escort.

JOB PLACEMENT

To Support the Differently Abled in & around Coimbatore City by intimating about the Job for Differently Abled, Promote the employment of Persons with Disabilities in the private sector the following 1. The Chennai silks from Tiruppur and Coimbatore supports us to given job 5 deaf as clerk in stores

department. 2. Hotel Aruchalam and Hotel Rock Coca given job 2 deaf each as helper 3. Ranga Stores given job 3 deaf as stores keeping 4. Chai restaurant given job 3 deaf as cooker 5. Kannan Department stores given job 6 deaf as part time.
