gift?As parents, we are continually making choices for our children – working hard to support their growth by choosing the best path for their schooling and enrichment activities. When it comes to their education, we are all aligned in our conviction that St. Matthew’s delivers to our children more than just academics; it also provides a caring community, character development and confidence. Each year, we see these qualities in our graduating 8th Graders as they move on, well prepared for high school, and in our Kindergarteners as they develop into capable and caring young students.By choosing St. Matthew’s for our children, we also make a commitment to support the School with our time, talent and treasure. Tuition is a piece of that puzzle, but tuition alone does not cover the cost of a St. Matthew’s education, nor does it cover the cost of the amazing new facilities that we have completed to date through the generous giving of school families and the church community. We still have facilities to complete in the summer of 2016. Phase III includes the third floor of St. Matthew’s Hall, which awaits the arrival of 7th and 8th Grade classrooms as our school continues to grow enrollment. Our success relies on everyone participating – to the best of their ability – in the support of St. Matthew’s. Over the last several years, we have asked for support on two fronts: the Annual Fund (to cover operating expenses) and the Capital Campaign (to help pay for our new facilities). While capital campaigns are standard practice among our peer independent schools, it is a first for St. Matthew’s in its 60 year history. We are grateful to those families who have already risen to the occasion. And so, it is easy to answer the question,What is the impact of our giving? Our giving impacts our children’s day-to-day experience. Our giving supports the environment where our children spend the majority of their time outside of the home during their formative years. Our giving makes it possible to deliver the education that we all chose so carefully for our children. To my mind, there is no better place to give that will have a greater benefit for your child than their school. Please join your fellow parents in committing your support to the School through both the annual fund and the capital campaign. We are so incredibly grateful for your generosity in supporting our collective commitment to our children’s education.

This past school year was one of manyfirsts: the September Ribbon Cutting opened the doors to our new educational spaces in St. Matthew’s Hall, the first day of classes in our newbuilding, the first home game in our newgym, students’ first visit to our newLibraryandMakerLab. With great excitement, our students and faculty quickly made it their newhome.

For over 60 years, St. Matthew’s has relied on a critical partnership between parents, alumni and friends to help fulfill its educational mission. In 2011 our community did somethingdifferent, somethingbold. We committed to the School’s first-evercapitalcampaign and our students are now learning in new buildings, state-of-the-art classrooms and our programs continue to grow to meet the needs of our 21st centurylearners.

The completion of the Early Childhood Center at Charles House (September 2013) marked the completion of PHASEI, and the opening of St. Matthew’s Hall (2014), PHASEII of our Campaign for St. Matthew’s. In this report, we honor our donors – trustees,

TheCampaign forSt.Matthew’s2015

parents, grandparents, alumni families and friends - who have brought us to this point in making our vision for St. Matthew’s students a reality. With the deepest appreciation, we say thank you.

PHASEIIIBEGINS…

COMPLETIONOF ST.MATTHEW’SHALLThis year we begin raising funds to complete the final phase of our master plan: A visual arts studio and classrooms for our rising Seventh and Eighth Grade students on the third floor of St. Matthew’s Hall. Phase III will complete the final step in a transformational project for our School. We welcome the support and participation of all members of our parent and broader school community. We are OneCommunity,OneGoal.

Donors to Phase I and II are listed below. Every effort has been made to give proper recognition to all who have contributed so generously to The Campaign For St. Matthew’s 2015. Please accept our apologies for any errors and notify the Development Office so that our records may be corrected.

Annual FundThe St. Matthew’s Annual Fund does not just make up the difference: it is the difference between a good education and an exceptional one.

St. Matthew’s students are the beneficiaries of a strong tradition of philanthropy that supports their learning and prepares them for the future. The Annual Fund represents a vital part of the School’s finances, enriching and enhancing every aspect of a St. Matthew’s education that tuition alone cannot cover. The St. Matthew’s Annual Fund provides immediate and direct support for:

• Academic Programs• Faculty Compensation & Professional Development• Financial Assistance• Athletics• Visual & Performing Arts

We are deeply grateful for the strong financial support we receive from all members of the St. Matthew’s community.
