BARCLAYSPremium Silver SponsorTreasury technology advances and SWIFT for corporates - a more readily accessible cash management toolOn-going technology advances continue to make SWIFT for Corporates more accessible and increasingly become the communication method of

choice for multinational corporates. What are the rationale and key drivers for the adoption of SWIFT? What are the benefits and opportunities this technology presents organisations while it continues to develop. Global cash management experts Barclays share their experience in this fast changing treasury world including a case study from FEXCO on its move to SWIFT.

HSBCSilver SponsorHSBC Corporate Banking Ireland brings the full range of HSBC product and network capabilities to assist Irish Corporates. We work with our clients to adopt a truly partnership approach and offer bespoke solutions to match each company’s ambitions. Our clients’ value, not just our balance sheet strength, but also the proven expertise HSBC has in doing business in different cultures and markets throughout the world.

JPMORGANSilver SponsorPanel Session: The Challenge of Finding Return in a Low (or Negative) Yield EnvironmentCentral Banks have not made it easy for short term investors to find positive returns while simultaneously keeping an eye on capital preservation. The ECB’s latest move to cut its key interest rates has only made this issue more acute. Alongside this, bank regulation – specifically Basel III – is changing the way banks value client deposits and also their own approach to funding. In this panel session, we’ll discuss how the landscape is changing and what opportunities are emerging for short term investors.

MATHESONSilver SponsorTransfer Pricing and a BEPS RoadmapThe BEPS project is proceeding at breakneck speed. Reports were published on seven action items in September and eight more are due next year. The OECD expects the BEPS project to deliver real change. Raffaele Russo of the OECD will provide an insight on where we are now and what’s coming in 2015. Joe Duffy of Matheson will lead a discussion on what it all means for corporate treasury departments in Ireland.

CONFERENCE 2014 | 3Asset Management

WELCOME NOTE

Irish Association ofCorporate Treasurers

Contactwww.treasurers.ie

As President of the Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers for 2014, I would like to welcome you all tothis year’s conference.

This is our biggest event in the year and we have a programme that will benefit Treasurers in the most important aspects of their jobs.

Funding is always high on the agenda and Niall Kelly (DCC) will give us the view from one of Ireland’s most frequent Private Placement issuers. Regulation has kicked in and it’s here to stay. This year we will get the industry’s viewpoint from Richard Raeburn (EACT) and Edward Gallagher (GE) The economy has entered a new phase. As we look forward to strong growth, we ask what can be done differently this time? We will have an Irish perspective from Brian Lucey (TCD) and this year for the first time, we will also benefit from a behavioural economist’s perspective - Liam Delaney (Sterling University).

We will also cover a great span of diverse areas that feature on the treasurer’s dashboards and we will visit these topics with leaders in their field including; treasury technology (Barclays & FEXCO), governance (Niamh Brennan, UCD), China (HSBC), investment (JP Morgan) and transfer pricing (OECD & Matheson).

We’ll also have our usual state of the nation discussion with treasury leaders - Experian, Dalata, DCC, SAP and Johnson & Johnson.

That should cover the day job but we also want to examine careers in Treasury - the profession today and where it can take you to. This year we’ve conducted a study of corporate treasury in Ireland and we are really looking forward to sharing the results with you. Finally we’ll hear from two national figures, Brendan McDonagh (NAMA) and Neil Ryan (Department of Finance) whose careers have evolved from treasury to leadership.

The IACT continues to grow from strength to strength and the conference is the latest event in a busy year. We’ve just had the annual dinner and once again the Shelbourne was stretched to capacity. We’ve had an evening briefing as well as our usual breakfast briefings, we had our first event in Belfast and we’ll have our usual event in Cork. This year our summer event was an evening of TED talks on ‘The Future of Money’, we looked right out into the future with the people who are planning for it and it was a fascinating night.

I believe the networking element of the Association is really important and we like to meet in different formats - from the conference today to the annual golf in the summer. Thank you very much for your involvement and support in our activities. I hope you get enough time today to catch up with other members and please join us at the conference drinks reception for a drink or two.

Our great line-up of speakers, again this year, would not be possible without the support of our conference sponsors. So thank you to Barclays, HSBC, JP Morgan and Matheson and to all attendees for your continuing support of the IACT and I hope you all enjoy the conference.
