This tournament is set to make a large impact on the northeastern Baltimore community. Positive changes and experiences are what the GEDCO Golf Tournament is all about. Last year at GEDCO’s first golf tournament, for example, one participant was a man who had been homeless and now is a resident of a GEDCO housing and services program. This year’s tournament will kick off on Friday, August 22 with registration, a continental breakfast, and a special guest speaker beginning at 7:00am, followed by a shotgun start at 8:00am. During the tournament, participants will have the opportunity to compete for putting, longest drive, closest to the pin, and a hole in one for a new car. A beverage cart will travel around the course to help competitors to beat the heat. After the tournament, an award ceremony and luncheon will be held. GEDCO is expecting 140 participants including local business persons, politicians, and other community leaders. Sponsors to date include GEDCO’s long-time partners: Presbyterian Senior Living, Gallagher Evelius and Jones, and Harkins Builders. “It’s so important to be thinking of our neighbors in all that we do,” GEDCO CEO, Nichole Battle, shared. “This year’s GEDCO Golf Tournament is a great way to thank our supporters as we continue working together to answer the true needs of our community members. We are all a part of the GEDCO family and together we can accomplish great things.” ### GEDCO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in northeastern Baltimore, MD working to build caring and compassionate communities by working in partnership with faith and community based organizations to provide affordable housing, supportive services, and emergency assistance.
