Import and Export FileVersion Information
The following versions are supported for these file types.
All versions are supported for file types not listed.
File Type Supported Versions
ACIS (.sat) You can import or export ACIS.sat parts or assembly
files up toand including version R22.
AutodeskInventor
You can import all AutodeskInventor parts or assembly filesfrom
version 11 and above.
CADKEY The CADKEY translator supportsimport of surface or solid
entitiesfrom CADKEY version 19 part orassembly files (*.prt) and
version21 multibody part files (*.ckd),including all later
versions.
CATIAGraphics(.cgr)
You can import or export CATIAGraphics .cgr files up to
V5R22.
CATIA V5 You can import CATIA V5 partsand assemblies up to
V5R22.
The CATIA V5 Translator isa separate product.
DXF 3D(.dxf)
You can import from DXF 3D filesAutoCAD version R14 and
above.
DXF or DWG You can import from or export to.dxf or .dwg files of
versionAutoCAD 2013.
HighlyCompressedGraphics(.hcg)
You can export SolidWorksdocuments as CATIA version 5,release 9
.hcg files.
HOOPS(.hsf)
You can export SolidWorksdocuments as HOOPS version18.16
files.
IFC You can import from or export toIFC 2x3 .ifc parts or
assembliesfiles.
IGES You can import from or export toIGES parts or assemblies
.igs filesof version 5.3.
MechanicalDesktop(.mdt)
You can import MDT translatorparts or assemblies of version
4.0or higher.
Parasolid(.x_t,.x_b)
You can import from or export toParasolid parts or assemblies
filesup to the latest Parasolid version.
Pro/Engineer You can export to Pro/ENGINEERparts or assemblies
files up toVersion 20. You can import fromPro/ENGINEER (Creo) parts
orassemblies files up to Creo 2.0.
Rhino You can import version 4 of Rhino.3dm files.
Solid Edge You can import Parasolid from SolidEdge parts or
assemblies up to andincluding the most current versionof Solid
Edge.
STEP You can import from or export toSTEP Application
ProtocolAP203/214 parts or assembly files.
For import, ConformanceClasses 1, 2 (surface dataonly), 4, 5,
and 6 of AP203

went to the site...think you need them to send you dwg's or
download the 30 day trial when you get the files save out your
dwg's

here it looks like if the UG\Semiens NX file are 8.0 they will
not open only NX7.5 and older. Sorry. Version Information The

Re: Import of an iges or igs file in to SolidWorks
Dear John, Thanks for information. But as I stated earlier, if I
ask the same Vendor to deliver in step or parasolidformat, how much
of time, it will take dont know. Any more information from you in
opening iges file will be definitely helpful. Thanks

Re: cutting an imported part
I'm seeing the same thing as file is missing some information
while it was converted to step format (can happen whenexporting as
different format). Can you ask the person who send this to you to
send you IGS you can check them out. BTW what is the keyway and
bore size you need. You can use move Face option to change
thesize.

When you export a multibody part document as
another file type, you have the option to export
selected solid bodies or all solid bodies.
Open - Match Faces and Edges of Imported Features
The Match faces and edges check box appears in
the Open dialog box when you edit the definition of an
imported feature.
