Calla Lily

Start a garden in wool this spring.

This flower involves absolutely no knitting or crochet. You’ll be working with

wool roving, which is wool just one step before

it’s turned into yarn. In the short space of 2 hours you’ll get

a taste of two very different felting processes,

needle felting and wet felting. It’s wet and a little

Easy Lace Cardigan Heidi has chosen Firefl y by Classic Elite for her fi rst version of this Knitting Pure and Simple cardie. It’s worked top down without seams. Once the yoke is completed, you’ll begin working Feather and Fan, a traditional Shetland lace pattern that never fails to please. The sleeves will be cuffed with Feather and Fan and you’ll trim the neckline of your cardie with a fi nal fl ourish of Feather and Fan. easy to work and fun to wear. Kate

chose Berroco’s cotton rich Captiva

for this piece, making it dressy and

Kimono So many new beautiful new spring yarns—how is a knitter to choose? One way to enjoy a new yarn is to work up a version of an old favorite design. The knit Kimono is one of our shop standbys. This cardie design features graceful bias knit fronts that drape and flatter most fi gures. Usually we have to choose yarn to match the pattern. Here it’s the other way around. The beauty of a multi-gauge pattern like our Kimono is that it works in the yarn of your choice. Also choose any sleeve length, from short and capped to long or anything in between. EntrelacEntrelac is one of the great tricks of the

knitting world. Is it woven? Does it involve a lot of sewing? None of the above. You’ll work with beautiful self-striping Noro, which creates the illusion that each small section is made from a separate yarn source, when in fact you’ll be working with one continuous strand. It’s also a great opportunity to try the option of “knitting back backwards” so that you can work with the right side of the piece facing you at all times. Zebra Felted ToteSusan Brobst has designed the Zebra Felt Tote to help you learn to knit fair isle. The secret to becoming

good at color stranded knitting is to practice, practice, practice. This project will give you lots of practice and a beautiful bag to show for your efforts. The felting process will camoufl age the unevenness that is typical for beginning fair isle knitters. There will be no need to correct “mistakes” in following the chart because the zebra stripes are very forgiving. There is also no reason that your zebra tote can’t be in two bright contrasting colors of your choice instead of the familiar black and white.

will be a chance to learn how to fl awlessly

of creativity. She’ll show you how to use needle felting to add a name, a fl ower, a soccer ball, or whatever embellish-ment you want. Her newest clog has a

plenty of time to get comfortable knitting in the round on small needles before learning how to shape the heel and toe. Close the toe of your sock with kitchener stitch, a sewn seam that mimics a look and comfort of a row of knitting.
