There are NO SBE or SMPTE December
meeting;s, just an opportunity to wish every-
one a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
It is also an opportunity to review the out-
standing Ohio Broadcast Engineering Confer-
ence held October 30, 2014, to thank the
OAB staff, and to express our appreciation to
the EXHIBITORS who made it all possible.
NEWS LETTER
From the Officers of Chapter 52

Clockwise from top left. Dave Glass, Chairman, OAB Board of Directors opens the conference and welcomes the attendees. Blake Thompson, Harold Price and Christopher Hartley address Cyber Security. The topic could not have been more timely as the Sony cyber breach followed in a few weeks. The economic impact of stolen Sony movies and the public relations disaster of the publication of high level executives’ candid and indiscreet emails cannot be overstated. May be it is time to purge old emails and to become a little more circumspect in correspondence.
After the opening General Session on Cyber Security, the Exhibitor Showcase opened. Here are some pictures of the men, women, and products that make the conference possible.

About the Presenter
November Meeting Summary …. Great Program and lots of Ice, Snow, Sleet and High
Winds.
Our thanks to Lyon Video, Tektronix, and our Tektronix speaker, Karl Kuhn. Karl has pre-sented programs previously. He is an extremely knowledgeable engineer and an entertaining speaker. Tektronix and Lyon Video provided great hospitality and food. It is a shame that the weather prevented a bigger turn out. Maybe we can try again during the summer months. Thanks again Lyon Video, Tektronix and Karl.
Karl Kuhn is a Senior Video Systems Application Engi-
neer with Tektronix that supports Digital Audio and
Video, Compression, File Based, IP, and RF test and
measurement. He has been at Tektronix for 15
years. Prior to Tektronix he was the lead Video Test
Engineer for IBM in their Digital Video Development
Laboratory in Bethesda, MD. Karl holds 3 U.S. pat-
ents and 1 Japanese patent that cover In-service
Testing of Digital Broadcast Video. Karl served on the
NATAS Technical and Engineering Emmy Committee
from 2007 to 2010. He is the Past Chair of DC
SMPTE and now the SMPTE Eastern Region Governor
and SMPTE North American Membership Director. He
is also a Certified Project Management Professional
(PMP) thru PMI and the George Washington Univer-
sity.
