These repairs were brought to council by the Property Committee and with the Harvest Committee recommending use of property reserves as funding. Most of the needed repairs are to exterior surfaces of the church building and require prompt attention to successfully schedule contractors before the cold weather arrives. The exterior items are already a significant problem (e.g., the exterior doors to Faith Hall which do not reliably close and lock in colder weather thus presenting a potentially serious security threat). In addition, there are multiple problems relating to surface coverings (e.g., tuck pointing and replacement of some exterior stone panels and bricks). These require prompt remediation to avoid future structural damage. While the price tag is substantial, we firmly believe that the cost will escalate as delays occur and further damage is done. We will explain each of the items and show pictures at the meeting so that people who don't often venture to those parts of the building can better appreciate the need. We hope you'll attend, both for your own information as well as permitting a decision that best represents the will of the congregation. We realize that time is tight between services but hope that the meeting can be completed in the allotted time.

Hearing and Balance Your sense of balance comes from three different systems working together: Your inner ear, your vision, and your perception of where your body is in space. When one or more of these isn’t working properly, you may experience dizziness.

Vertigo is the feeling that you are spinning or that the room is spinning around you, it may even be at a point where some nausea is involved. Imbalance can make you feel wobbly, making it difficult to walk in a straight line. Lightheadedness is the sensation you may have if you stand up too fast, especially from laying to standing. So you may ask, why would someone

experience dizziness???? There can be any number of reasons…an illness, medication use/side effect, Meniere’s disease or BPPV (crystals stuck in your ear canal).

There are many signs and symptoms of Meniere’s disease, including fluctuating hearing loss, vertigo, tinnitus or ringing in the ears, and a sensation of fullness in the ears. Everyone is affected by these symptoms differently. Unfortunately there is no cure for Meniere’s disease. There are a variety of treatment or management options… try adjusting your diet to less sodium/salt intake (check with your doctor) or there are surgeries-check with your audiologist.

With BPPV, there are several therapists specially trained to re-train your inner ear. For this you need a doctor referral and when you go for the therapy will be asked for a full medical history and may experience some mild to moderate discomfort during the Epley maneuver, which is the treatment that PT uses. The average treatment is 4-6 visits.

If you or a loved one suffers from dizziness or hearing loss, be sure to talk to your primary care doctor about all your symptoms.

Think safety and improving your quality of life!

Have You Tried This? Spiritual Tips for Ordinary Days

Personal forgiveness. Perhaps the most difficult forgiveness to extend, is to ourselves. God forgives our sins, our children forgive our mistakes, our friends forgive an angry word. But we struggle with guilt and regret about things we have done or things we have left undone. This month, let’s practice forgiving ourselves. Consider how you forgive others when they hurt your feelings and give this same gift to yourself. Let’s pray for our peace of mind, our love of our selves and how we turned out. Bask in the warmth of the love we give to others and now give to ourselves. God loves us, it must be the right thing to do. Let’s pray…

There is a set of five novellas in Trinity’s Library on women in the lineage of Jesus Christ. They are entitle, Unveiled, Unashamed, Unshaken, Unbroken, and Unafraid. The women are Tamar, a woman of hope; Rahab, a woman of faith; Ruth, a woman of love; Bathsheba, a woman who received unlimited grace; and Mary, a woman of obedience. These were Eastern women who lived in ancient times and yet their stories apply to our lives and the difficult issues faced in our world today. They were on the edge. They had courage. They took risks. The did the unexpected. They lived daring lives and sometimes they made mistakes—big mistakes. These women were not perfect and yet God chose them and used them in His perfect plan. The novellas are fiction but these are historical moment who actually lived and their stories are based on Biblical accounts. The author, Francine Rivers, used facts form the Bible

and then created action, dialogue, and additional characters to aid in the understanding of these women. At the end of each novella, there is also a brief section with questions for further study. The TLC Book Club meets August 18th at 12:00 noon in Tillberg Lounge to discuss “The Boys in the Boat: nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics” by Daniel James Brown. The Good Book Club meets August 24th at 7:00 p.m. in Tillberg Lounge to discuss “The Ponder heart” by Eudora Welty. Join any of the discussion groups. We enjoy welcoming new members! Library Lines are written by volunteers from Trinity Church. A review of anything from our church’s library, including videos, is welcome. Reviews from the children’s and youth sections are also welcome. L
