The Art Department at AHIS proudly presents a variety of special programs and events to meet the interests of our diverse students. Art classes include Glass Painting, Ceramics, Canvas Painting, Wood Carving & Burning, Paper Crafts, Charcoal & Pastels and more artistic projects that are linked to other subjects. Events (such as the AHIS Annual Art Fair) Competitions (Local & International), Gifted & Talented, one-on-one Teaching & Monitoring Programs, Subject linking activities

are only a few of the methods that we follow to develop creativity of our students through arts .We teach the visual arts as a means of creative expression, not just as a series of media and techniques. We challenge our students to think of art as their own style and impact. The Art Department has a variety of teaching methods that develop artistic skills of our students. For instance, Individualized learning, hands-on activities, real-life

projects, paintings, drawings, sculpture, the annual program for exhibitions, outdoor painting sessions and more. The school ensures that students gain deep knowledge through meeting standards of the Art Curriculum and assessing their learning outcome.The aims of the Art department are mainly; trying to present art as living history, teaching

art as an individual expression and practicing art as a visual enjoyment. These aims are achieved through technical means of expression. Consequently, students gain experience outside and beyond their own personal or creative capacity.

HIGH SCHOOL

I’ve been interested in art for as long as I can remember. I usually draw cartoon characters that I watch when I was younger. Now, I draw various video game and anime characters better than before, draw and create original, fictional character, still life, scenery, etc. I also got into abstract art. My inspiration and motivation to do abstract came out of nowhere. As I did abstract art, it reminded me how I feel deep inside, how I do things.

Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al KhalifaMy favorite style of art is sketching, most probably because of the different depth of shading that is applied to the subject which makes a great deal of appeal. It is also a great challenge. I sketch almost every now and then as it is part of my leisure. I started drawing when i was 16. It was also very fun learning the wide varieties of techniques in the style of sketching. I tend to choose personal favorite characters based on TV shows or Anime (Japanese animation) as my subjects. This was the reason to why I started drawing because the characters that you mimic onto that portrait are ones of whom you admire, and the admiration that you adore

philosophically teaches you something of morale understanding. Something of a mirror that reflects the traits we admire. I hope many of the youth out there to submerge themselves into world of art and cling to it, its always a great time to try hobbies and treat them as the other dimension they belong to.
