On behalf of the Sprott Business Students’ Society and the students at Sprott as a whole, I would like to

thank you for taking the time to consider a partnership with our organization. The Sprott Business Students’ Society is the main representative for the student body that makes up the Sprott School of Business. One of the main goals of the Sprott Business Students’ Society is to develop and build relationships with corporate partners and the community that Sprott is a part of. It is of utmost importance to Sprott and our society that these relationships yield mutually rewarding experiences and results for us as well as our partners. At the Sprott School of Business, we firmly believe that beyond the scholarly pursuits we take part in, extracurricular opportunities are integral to the Business School’s creation of experienced, well-rounded students. With your support, we can continue to fund workshops, competitions and associations that will help shape students into knowledgeable graduates. The mission of the SBSS is to help develop the professional, social, and academic skills of business students through opportunities and events hosted throughout the year. Sprott consistently competes in regional, national, and international scholastic competitions in which it not only has done increasingly well in each year since the induction of the program, but it consistently wins several of these competitions each year. We at Sprott feel that this is made possible by the training and knowledge that are given by our clubs, associations and events that allow students to excel beyond the classroom setting. I am very much looking forward to potentially developing and creating mutually rewarding relationships between Ottawa businesses and the Sprott Business Student Society. With the main goal of increasing the presence and impact of all parties involved, I truly believe this can be achieved through communication and the effort of the Sprott Business Students’ Society. Thank you for your consideration. Yours sincerely,

Chris Rozon Vice President Corporate Relations Sprott Business Students’ Association

BUSINESS SKILLS WORKSHOP

CASE COMPETITIONS

Throughout the academic year, the SBSS is looking for partners to host workshops for various skill sets. An afternoon of learning, interaction, and collaboration are great opportunities for our students to learn from you, and for your company to get exposure to a pool of over 2000 business students. We would like event hosts to build workshop material based on what they do best   Event hosts are welcome to deliver workshop material based on any relevant topic they feel would benefit the Sprott students. In the past, there have been workshops focused on a vast array of skillsets and techniques relevant to many business contexts.

For the coming Academic year, the SBSS is looking for partners to aid in the development of a case competition on the subject of Business Strategy in which the Sprott School of Business would send teams to compete against Telfer School of Management. The goal of the Competition would be for the schools to learn from each other, while showcasing their academic talents. Partners of these events would be able to meet and network with the ambitious students to understand more about case competition structure, as well as offer insight and advice to the participants. In exchange, the Sprott Business Student Society will need partnership participation to judge the competition.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

SOCIAL EVENTS

INTERNAL SPROTT CASE COMPETITIONS

The internal Sprott Case Competition is Sprott’s annual skills competition that gives students a chance to develop and apply quick, critical thinking skills and decision-making. Students are presented with a business problem with which they have a short amount of time to resolve the business problem presented and present their solution to a panel of judges; delegates from various corporate partners. The SBSS is also looking for partners to help us host a second internal case competition this coming year. This is a great opportunity for interaction between students, partners and faculty, as well as additional practical experience for the students of Sprott to bolster their presence in the professional world. We’re seeking judges for the competition, and in return give a full day’s exposure to some of the highest achieving students Sprott has to offer.

The SBSS regularly hosts social events, in which we encourage partner participation. Several annual events, such as our Boat Cruise and Flag Football Tournament in September, as well as our Gala in March are extremely popular among students and could not run without our community partners.

The SBSS annually coordinates the “5 Days for the Homeless”, a charity initiative that raises money for Operation Come Home, a charitable organization aimed at providing youth ages 16+ education and employment. Last year alone, the team of dedicated Sprott students lived outside of the University Centre building on Carleton University campus in mid-March, raising over $10,000 for the cause. Sprott is also looking for sponsors for a new charity initiative in the fall, with the goal of recycling business-wear for underprivileged youth to enable them to look professional in professional settings. This Ottawa-based campaign will be aimed at enlarging the pool of potential employees in the area, and will require partnership for raising awareness and hosting events.
