SAFETY AND SECURITY

In an emergency

The first response is ALWAYS to call 000.

Everyone involved in Carnival, including billets, participants, sports conveners, managers and parents, can assist in improving the overall level of security. Individually we must take responsibility and contribute to everyone’s safety and security.

Some guidelines for taking individual responsibility:

Notify Security or a Carnival Official of any incident, situation, suspicious activity, people or objects that

appear out of place. Be sensible and aware of your surroundings at all times and always look out for fellow participants. All participants and Carnival Officials must wear ID tags at all times except while on a sports field/court. If

you lose your ID tag, notify your Team Manager ASAP to obtain a replacement. WHEN IN DOUBT always ask a member of Security or Carnival management.

SPORTS BAGS

Please do not leave your bags unattended.

BAG INSPECTIONS

Bag inspections will be carried out at entry to all social events. No Water bottles with ANY liquid will be allowed!

Junior Carnival Integrity Officer

Maccabi Victoria has appointed Nikki Burger as the Junior Carnival Integrity Officer. Maccabi Australia and its affiliated States and Clubs regard protecting the rights and interests of its members and participants in all Maccabi events, of paramount importance. Our concern is to ensure that for this Carnival, all participants: • behave responsibly to each other and comply with the rules of our organisation; • are treated fairly; and • have their rights and interests fully protected at all times during the Carnival. Should you feel at any time, during the Carnival, that either you are the victim of or have witnessed discrimination, harassment, bullying or abuse of any kind or that your personal rights have been infringed in some other way, please do not hesitate to contact Nikki Burger on 0416 128 094. Please note that all referrals to Nikki will be dealt with promptly, sensitively and confidentially. It is hoped that all grievances and complaints will be able to be resolved quickly by agreement of the parties involved. You may, however, believe that it is appropriate to refer a serious grievance or complaint externally to the appropriate authorities such as the Police or to a Child Protection Agency or other relevant Government agencies. That is your right. To assist you to better understand some of Maccabi’s more important member protection policy positions and the precise procedures to follow should you wish to report a grievance or complaint, you can refer to Maccabi’s Member Protection Policy Handbook (which is located on the Maccabi Australia (MAI) website at www.maccabi.com.au) Please take the time to read and familiarise yourselves with this document.

All Abilities

For the first time in history, the Maccabi Junior Carnival will be strongly devoted to the inclusion and integration of Jewish people with disabilities. We have actively promoted the carnival to Melbourne Jewish people with all abilities and will be inviting them to join in the carnival as both participants and volunteers. The participants will partake in the same sporting and social event opportunities as the mainstream participants and enjoy meeting new people and catching up with old friends. Individuals with various disabilities, aged 18 years and older, will be volunteering and assisting at the Carnival events. We expect all Carnival participants as well as any other personnel attending Carnival events to show respect and tolerance towards these individuals and treat them appropriately. For more information, please contact Lauren Mandel (Maccabi Victoria All Abilities Inclusion Coordinator) [email protected], 0412 605 480.
