e 2015 Church Planting Conference that took place on January 13-15 at the campus of Heartland Baptist Bible College had 77 Church Planters in attendance who are passionate about advancing the Gospel and establishing Christ-centered, Bible-based, Gospel-preaching churches in the United States. Hundreds of pastors and individuals from across the nation who believe we are in a day of golden opportunity for advancement of the Gospel through church planting were also in attendance. Over the course of the event, 38 church planters presented their work and personal needs. In response, pastors and individuals- adults, college students, teens, and even children- sacrificially gave as the Spirit of God led. By the conclusion of the conference, $316,097 had been raised in one-time gifts for the various church planters that presented. In addition, $70,620 of monthly support had been pledged, enabling many of the church planters to travel less deputation miles and, in some cases, plant the church sooner. Charity Smith, a first-year Heartland student, said, “Church Planting Conference was such a blessing! It’s so awesome to see how people are willing to whole-heartedly invest into church planters to further the gospel throughout our country!” Perhaps the greatest impact of the conference is the spiritual “boost” that comes as a result of the special music, fellowship, and preaching. Church planter Stephen Zimmerman remarked, “is conference has been worth attending if only for the [spiritual] recharge and revitalization.” Pastor Joe Decker stated, “It never ceases to amaze me, year after year, how a Church Planting Conference challenges and energizes me to nurture the established church to which God has called me.” Please remember to pray for the cause of church planting in America. Also, mark your calendar, begin saving, and plan to attend the next National Church Planting Conference on January 12-14, 2016. e 2010 U.S.A. Census reports that the population was 308.7 million and that the overall population had increased by 9.7% (27.3 million people) since 2000. Are new fundamental churches being planted at a rate that begins to keep up with the demands of both the existing population and the rate of population growth? e answer is obvious. Rising generations of Americans live in ignorance of Jesus Christ and have no moral absolutes. America desperately needs more Gospel-preaching churches. 2015 CHURCH PLANTING CONFERENCE Mike Blythe, Faculty Member FEBRUARY 2015

Students have returned from Christmas break, and the campus is “alive” again. Registration was completed on Friday, January 9th, and attention immediately turned

to preparation for the National Church Planting and Home Missions Conference. The spirit among the student body was high, and the students had a mind to serve.

The new Student Information System software introduced last semester will enter the second phase of implementation. The students will be able to follow their academic progress in

real time online, and will be able to communicate with faculty more effectively. We are thankful for the provision of God these 17 years in Oklahoma City, and we anticipate great things in the future. If you or someone you know is interested in attending Heartland, please contact me for information.

Recently, I spoke with a pastor who, instead of primarily fellowshipping with fellow pastors during the Church Planting Conference, chose to use this meeting to build relationships with students. This pastor is not ready to hire staff yet, but desires that when the need arises in a few years, he will already have some relationships in place with potential staff. Building early relationships with potential staff is becoming especially important for pastors looking for staff men. Very few graduates “hang around Oklahoma City”

following graduation not knowing where to go. Currently, I know of only 8 of the 41 men graduating this May who still aren’t sure where God is leading them. I say all of that to say, if you are looking to hire a graduate, feel free to give me a call, and I will help you contact these men; or if you are looking for a summer intern, I will put you in contact with students who are interested in summer internships.

HOW GOD USEDGLORYBOUND

Andrew Albert, Representative

As I remember, my first exposure to Heartland Baptist Bible College was in 2002 when GloryBound sang at my church. I was in my early 20’s and in no place spiritually to even consider attending Bible College. Although I was not a particularly welcoming fellow, the group was undeterred and in a short time made a big impact on my life. Their spirit, attitude, and joy in serving the Lord made an impression that stuck with me long after their visit. Later, in 2008 when God spoke to my heart and called me to full-time service, I naturally chose to come to receive my education at Heartland. It is now my privilege to be the point of contact for those wishing to schedule Heartland’s music groups and VBS teams. If you are interested in scheduling one of these groups, please contact me!

Not long after joining the Heartland staff in 2003, it became very evident to me how important the May College Offering is to Heartland, as it is the largest source of support each year. The 2014 May College Offering, which totaled $819,420, funded the summer operations and mortgage payments, the purchase of a campus-wide Student Information System, the remodeling of the bookstore, and the installation of Access Control in every ladies’ residence hall. We thank the Lord for all the churches that participated in the 2014 May College Offering. The 2015 May College Offering of $800,000 will be used to remodel seven bathrooms in three ladies residence halls, resurface parking lots and driveways, purchase a mid-size commercial tractor, replace worn-out air conditioning and heating units, and complete the cafeteria renovation. Heartland continues to move forward with capital improvement projects because of those who faithfully give to the May College Offering year after year. We sincerely thank God for you!

On March 18-20, 2015, we will be hosting our annual College Days. I can think of numerous benefits that a young person would receive by visiting College Days at Heartland Baptist Bible College. They have an opportunity to get a glimpse of what life is like at Heartland by going to classes, chapel, activities, and attending a service at Southwest Baptist Church. All of those are exciting, but I believe one of the greatest aspects of attending College Days is the challenge they receive from the preaching of God’s Word. Last week, I began visiting with a current student, and soon he was sharing his testimony and God’s call on his life. This young man expressed to me that one of the things that was instrumental in his yielding to God’s call was the preaching he heard on a visit to Heartland. Young people who attend College Days get the opportunity to hear biblical preaching aimed at challenging them to yield their lives totally to God and His purpose for them.
