OVERVIEW § FlexEnergy produces 250-‐333 kW gas-‐fired turbines
opSmized to convert natural, waste and associated
oilfield gases to primary power for many industries
(approx. 2 million operaSng hours)
§ Technology was originally developed by Ingersoll Rand
as a derivaSve of the Dresser-‐Rand KG2 (oilfield focused
machine)
High reliability modular power solu4ons for the oil & gas industry
§ Flex offers the only turbines
of smaller kW capacity that
uSlize a robust, synchronous
generator & cyclic load
management using a
resisSve load bank

COMPANY HISTORY
4 High reliability modular power solu4ons for distributed genera4on
§ 2013 FlexEnergy decided to divest oxidizer business and focus on selling the turbine as a standalone product, focusing on mulS-‐market strategy of 1) distributed genera4on, 2) Oil & gas applica4ons, 3) power genera4on from biogas
§ Q4 2013 Flex expands product line and concludes $400m supply contract with Distributed GeneraSng Company
§ 2014 Flex plans further expansion into new geographies currently hampered by poor power infrastructure.
§ 1990s Ingersoll Rand established R&D team to evaluate use of automoSve turbo-‐machinery in small gas turbines
§ 2000-‐2004 A`er development effort of more than $100m, Ingersoll Rand formed ‘Energy Systems’ business & released 70kW turbine in 2001, followed by 250kW turbine -‐ based heavily on very successful Dresser Rand KG2-‐ in 2004
§ 2004-‐2011 Over 200 units of 70kW and 250kW deployed. >3 million hours of operaSon across distributed power market ( factories, hospitals, landfills, waste water treatment, gas processing faciliSes and remote oil fields)
§ 2011 Ingersoll Rand Energy Systems acquired by FlexEnergy Inc. as part of a green power iniSaSve to pair the 250kW turbine with a prototype oxidizer technology being developed by FlexEnergy at that Sme

ISSUES EXPERIENCED BY RECIPROCATING ENGINES USING APG AS FUEL
• Associated Petroleum Gas (APG) • Not pure methane gas • A mixed gas of varying quality and composiSon • Varies greatly from one region to another • Generally, higher Btu content (i.e. >1200 Btu/scf) than natural gas
• APG in reciprocaSng engines • High content of higher hydrocarbons (butane, pentane, hexane) can cause uncontrolled combus.on (knocking)
• Specialized controls and conSnuous adjustments are required to prevent knocking • Knocking can shorten engine life
MT250 on Associated Petroleum Gas (APG) • Fuel flexible and tolerant • Higher Btu content (i.e. >1200 Btu/scf) is not an issue for operaSons • Varying Btu content does not impact operaSon • Fuel flow is modulated automaScally to control internal temperatures

High reliability modular power solu4ons for the oil & gas industry 18
PETRONAS – BUKIT TUA PLATFORM, Indonesia
Project § In December 2012 Flex was awarded its first
Petronas project, winning project versus Capstone.
§ EPC was Technip Indonesia. § Petronas & Technip preferred 1) the compact
size of unit (seen on the le` of the photo) and 2) the rugged synchronous generator design.
§ Flex design avoids many of the failures that are associated with the other small turbines that use power electronics, such as bawery failures and trips due to inability to handle loads.
§ Petronas also liked Flex’s unique, ultra safe fuel system with separate purge, allowing unit to be placed in safe area.
MT333 Primary Power, Offshore plaxorm.

PETRONAS – BUKIT TUA PLATFORM, Indonesia
Project § The Flex unit was also able to be uprated to
opSmize the full capacity of Flex’s generator and handle higher loads, allowing Petronas to save money and space in its plaxorm design.
§ Pictures from the successful FAT are shown to the right, with full Petronas delegaSon visit to Flex facility in USA.
§ FAT carried out by Technip. § Unit shipped in June 2013. Onshore pre-‐
commissioning carried out by Flex technical team late 2013.
