Utility Company – The entity (person, corporation, company, agency, or other) that furnished service(s) (including petroleum and petroleum products, electricity, sanitary sewer, communications, water, natural gas, traffic signal control and storm sewer) utilizing conduit pipe, wire, cable or other transmission lines.

Utility Company was used in lieu of AWWU

Why this is important –It allows us to control who and when another company can work on our infrastructure. We have an obligation to protect the health and well being of our customers above all else.

is not assigned that duty. This is for private systems

• Article 1.3 – Surveys• Made survey incidental unless paid for under a bid

item.

following sections of Division 50 in MASS.• Article 1.5 Concrete and Mortar• REMINDER – JET SET is not allowed

• Removed insulation requirements as we no longer specify insulation requirements higher than what is found in Division 20.

between MASS and the DCPM• Article 2.2 – Submittals (NEW)• Article 2.3 – Materials• Warning tape burial has changed due to numerous

comments received on 18”. Revised to a new minimum of 24” and a maximum of 36”.

• PE pipe resin is to be PE4710• Electro-fusion couplings are removed as an allowed

fitting (Change made 11-3-14)

Mostly done for private systems residential construction, where plans are not required.

substitute CCTV inspection for lamping• Better defined when testing may commence, after all

backfill, other utility installation etc…• Changed to have sewer stubs provide a bell • Exfiltration Testing changed substantially• Testing equipment requirements spelled out• Accounting for ground water spelled out (not new,

but not enforced consistently in the past). • Testing time table provided. This matches the

previous attempt in MASS, but never enforced. E.g. the total rate of air loss shall not exceed 2 cf/min

this change is to capture that and make it applicable to more situations

• Article 3.2 – Submittals (NEW)• This list went to D&S and was modeled off a CIP

project submittal I received.• Article 3.3 – Materials• Split out into many sections versus one section• Added Viscotaq waterproofing• Added internal drop connect• Added internal coatings (H2S – protection)

• Article 3.4 Construction• Re-organized with additional sections addressing the

incorporated and new items
