Meeting

Coaching Staff

• Justin Snider – Head Coach [email protected]

• Evan Rowntree – OC• Joe Marks – DC• Jason Spruill • Garret Smith• David McGowan• Rick Miller• Cordell Chapman• Shawn Shoulders

– Athletics is a privilege not a right. We have expectations for every player, and the choices of the players will determine their standing within the program

– Player Guidelines• Caution List (Yellow Sheet)• Grades, Attendance, Behavior

– Captain Criteria– Attitude-Effort-Discipline – Commitment – There will be no profanity, profanity will result in

25 up-downs– Positive!!! Be positive with teammates, coaches

and others. And we ask parents to do the same. “Positive in Positive Out, like-wise…Garbage in Garbage Out”

– Chain of Command – with issues, (24-Hour Rule) Head Coach, then AD, then Administration.

Expectations– Do the Right Thing– Take care of the classroom first and foremost… NO

PASS, NO PLAY!!!– We check grades EVERY grading period, it is your

child’s responsibility to make sure I see their report card… I even take text pictures.

– Put the Team before ourselves, team sports is not a place to be selfish

– Be on Time (IF you are going to be absent or late, I’d appreciate the courtesy of letting me know… you have a team that is affected by your absence).

– Have a positive, willing to learn attitude.– Be supportive of teammates, coaches and the program– Every day is an opportunity…. We either get better, or

we get worse… we never stay the same.

Expectations Continued– Give your best….. both in the classroom and on

the field– Be a role model. It’s easier to drag people

down, it’s a challenge to pull people up.– We will be disciplined. Football is all about doing

the right thing (your job) in the battle when instincts tell you to do it another way… we have to condition ourselves to make sure we are doing our jobs.

– When addressing coaches, teachers and adults… it will be “Yes sir, No sir”

– I believe winning is the direct result of the discipline the players possess. We will learn to do it the right way

Grades• Must pass 3 of 4 each semester and

be promoted in order to be eligible.• Can miss no more than 10 days for

OCS, 13 for state eligibility.• I require the football players to pass

all of their classes during the season to continue to play. If they fail a class, they do not play until they have a 75 average.

• Must turn in grades every 6-weeks

Summer Conditioning• Welcome to HS…. Critical to our success!– Schedule- Calendars (June, July, and Tentative Aug)– 7 on 7 at Southwest (4 dates we will leave at 5pm)– Not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. Playing time is

the result of hard work and ability, an excess of either tends to lead to successful players, excess of BOTH tends to result in extraordinary players. We would like them to be there at Least 70% of the time. We only have 18 days once school is out.

– 7am-9am in the morning, Monday – Thursday– Must attending morning sessions to participate in evening

football skill development– Linemen Drills (Mon/Wed), Skill Drills (Tues/Thurs)
