HOW TO USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER

Extinguishers come in a number of shapes and sizes. They all operate in a similar manner. Here’s an easy acronym for extinguisher use:

P PULL the pin on the extinguisher

A AIM the fire extinguisher at the base of the fire and stand 2m away from the fire

S SQUEEZE the handle of the extinguisher

S SWEEP the extinguisher left to right, while aiming at the base of the fire

ABE fire extinguishers are recommended for fires where wood, paper, flammable liquid or live electrical equipment are involved.
