Dear Friends of UCI Law School,

I am so pleased to welcome you to the Sixth Annual Public Interest Law Fund (PILF) benefit at UCI Law. PILF is a non-profit student organization dedicated to supporting UCI Law students who are working to address the many gaps in our system of justice. The mis-sion of PILF is to facilitate public interest work by our students, espe-cially during summers.

Similar to organizations at other top law schools across the country, PILF will provide summer stipends to students so they can gain hands-on experience and an understanding of how the law works, with real clients and real problems. The mission is central to our task at UCI Law: to do the best job of training students for the practice of law at the highest levels of the profession and to instill in them a commit-ment to public service.

The event we enjoy tonight represents many hours of hard work by a dedicated group of students. We are all very grateful to the sponsors of tonight’s event and to the many generous individuals from throughout the Southern California legal community who have donated to the Grand Prix.
