WELCOME
BSB is an all-through international school with 1,350 students from 70 nationalities. We are the only school in Belgium to offer three pre-university routes: A Levels, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and BTEC vocational courses in Business, Hospitality and Sport. The school’s curriculum is organised into Primary School (ages three to 11) and Secondary School (ages 11 to 18). In addition, we have an Early Learning & Development Centre (Kindercrib) for children aged 1-3. Please call us for a tour and to find out how we prepare students for success in the 21st century.
It is our pleasure to announce that the BSB Academies will again be taking place in the Summer of 2015! A wide range of activities will be offered
to children aged 3 - 18 years old. We would be delighted if you would be able to attend our two different sessions:
• The Summer Academy from 6 - 10 July 2015
• The Welcome Academy from 24 - 28 August 2015
All Academies will be held off campus and registration must be directly made with each individual organisation. Further information on each Academy programme is provided within this booklet.

Improve your technical skills: This course is professionally designed to teach children important life skills in a fun, exciting and enriching manner through the martial art of Aikido. The class focuses on skills improving the students self-defence, concentration and physical fitness. Each student practises to his or her own level of fitness and capability. During classes, students work with one another in a non-competitive, cooperative atmosphere to refine their movements and develop self-confidence. Four hours of Aikido per day and another sport activity will be organised depending on weather and availability. The course is taught in English or French by Larbi El Akel, a qualified teacher, 6th Dan Aikikai and his assistants. He also gives two seminars each year in the United Kingdom.
Trainers and t-shirt should be worn unless you have a kimono. Kimonos can be borrowed for training and returned at the end of the course. A demonstration will be performed by the children at the end of the week which parents are invited to watch. Please bring your own lunch, drinks and snacks. (Menu for €7 or sandwich for €5 with drink can be bought in the cafeteria).

Organised and run by BSB Tennis Coaches, providing the same fun as our lessons on BSB campus but at a different location.
Young players, from complete beginners to established players, have the opportunity to improve their game, work hard, make new friends and have a lot of fun.
All Tennis programmes include: • small groups• personalised on-court instruction • programmes for every skill level• end of week tournament • mini Tennis for the younger players• full size tennis for the older players

BSBL Hockey AcademyAcademy dates: 24 - 28 August
Age Groups: 6 - 10 years and 10 - 13 years

The week will be organised and run at the Diependaal Sports Centre, Tervuren: The emphasis will be on quality coaching for a maximum of 25 players in each of the two age groups – MINIS (6 - 10 years old) and ALL STARS (10+ -13 i.e. to include all U14 team players / 2001).
Specific coaching in technical skills, conditioned games and small team play will be sensibly structured for each age group, and all participants will be given the maximum attention possible.
Each day’s coaching sessions will run from 09.00 – 16.30, with the course open from 08.30 daily and through to 17.00 to allow early drop-off / later pick-up as required.
Lunch will be provided.

Creative and Adventure AcademyAcademy dates: 2 - 12 August

This academy offers a unique combination of creative and outdoor activities, offering a selection of music and sports that is sure to lead to a fusion of fun and relaxation in the magnificent setting of the Italian Alps.
The experience accommodates both beginners and advanced sports-loving music students, as well as students without music experience.

A programme for horse and pony enthusiasts accommodating beginners and advanced riders alike.
Programme includes:• feeding and caring for the horses and ponies• riding twice a day in groups of students of the same ability• theory and practical exercises, learning about tack, grooming and riding• grooming the horses and ponies• games and vaulting
Riders must wear a safety helmet, breeches or jodhpurs or tight-fitting trousers and riding boots or well-fitting rubber boots.

Multi-Lingual Art AcademyAcademy dates: 6 - 10 July & 24 - 28 August
Are you looking to access your artistic potential? Come and experience a week full of colours, shapes, invention, and creativity at the Multi-Lingual Art Academy!
Classes are conducted by a talented, professionally trained artist in small groups and in a relaxed atmosphere. Students will learn a range of artistic techniques including: print making, design, modelling with clay, book making, drawing in charcoal, and painting in watercolours, inks, oil, acrylic, and pigments. The children will give form to their own creativity and learn to work in a concentrated manner at their own level.
Classes will be conducted in both English and French, and teachers are multi-lingual. Children will automatically hear, learn, and enjoy foreign languages as well.
Students should bring a snack and drink.

Multi-Sports AcademyAcademy dates: 6 - 10 July & 24 - 28 August
The Multi-Sports Academy is managed by BSB’s own coaches who specialise in a variety of sports. This programme offers four action packed days of playing the sports that suit you.
Students have the opportunity to try out many different sports during this camp, including but not limited to: tennis, squash and swimming.
Everyday we create a sports programme to suit the students’ requests ranging from football to taekwondo and many other sports in between.
All Programmes include: • small groups• half day tennis/half day multi-sports• personalised instruction • programmes for every skill level• end of week tournament
Please bring your own tennis racquet, swimwear, towel, refreshments and packed lunch (if you’re not ordering hot meals) and wear appropriate sports clothing and tennis trainers.

Musical Theater AcademyAcademy dates: 6 - 10 July
A theatrical experience for all ages! Students will be taught various skills and styles in drama, song and modern theatre dance by three professionally qualified teachers. Students will perform a presentation at the end of the week for parents.
Students should wear t-shirts, comfortable trousers/leggings and either dance shoes (jazz or ballet shoes) or light gym shoes.
Students need to provide their own lunch, drinks and snacks.
Age Groups: 7 - 9, 10 - 12 and 13 - 18 years
Timetable: 09.00 – 12.30: Each group will have 1 hour of drama, 1 hour of singing and 1 hour of dance every morning with a break
13.30 – 15.30: Each group to rehearse their pieces
15.30 – 16.00: Drama games and song and dance quizzes

Yoga is a discipline that can help children to be calm and have a balanced mind. Furthermore, this ancient way of life enhances young ones to build a strong and flexible body. Both of these are tools they can use in their everyday lives.
Yoga will help improve a child’s strength, flexibility, focus, and coordination. Here children can develop social skills and lasting friendships as well.
Each day, we will begin with yoga and relaxation followed by creative activities, fun games, nature study and more! Weather permitting, afternoon trips to the park will be made.

Upstage Musical Productions will once again be producing a week long musical theatre course on behalf of the BSB as part of the school’s Welcome Academies. The project ends with a fantastic performance of a brand new musical.
Upstage Productions have been running the course in the UK for twelve years and it is regarded as one of the best courses of its type. If you want to have a fantastic week working with a professional Director, Choreographer and a Musical Director, e-mail your details to Thomas Kett as soon as possible. The project works on a first-come-first-served basis.
