2015 YEAR IN REVIEW!

TRANSFORMING LIVES AND EDUCATION THROUGH THE ARTS

THANK YOU!Thanks to you, Young Audiences/Arts for Learning (YA) had a tremendous impact on the lives and education of Maryland youth during the 2014-15 school year. These are just some of the ways you made a difference.

YA served 183,153 students, from Pre-k to grade 12, with our programs, ranging from interactive live performances to long-term, classroom-based residencies.

YA artists traveled to all 24 Maryland school districts to deliver these programs to 450 schools and community sites, providing students with a total of 233,591 learning hours.

YA raised $387,050 to subsidize programs through our urban and rural Access for All initiatives, allowing us to reach 83,607 students who otherwise might not have been able to experience high quality arts programs.

STUDENTSWe are reaching more students and providing more in-depth programming.

YA employed 144 artists throughout the year, adding 7 new artists or ensembles to our roster.

Artists collectively earned $1,053,856 through these employment opportunities and provided more than 7,000 arts experiences for students and teachers.

20 artists were trained through the Teaching Artist Institute, a partnership between YA, Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance, and the Maryland State Arts Council.

ARTISTSWe are building a diverse community of talented professional teaching artists.

1,872 Maryland educators benefited from our professional development services, which help teachers utilize the arts to meet College and Career-Ready Standards (also called Common Core). Trainings can be customized to focus on specific topics, like inclusion or STEM connections.

For the first time, YA operated its own 5-week-long free Summer Arts Academy for 3rd through 7th graders in Baltimore City, partnering with 20 local teachers. In addition to art, students also received arts-integratedliteracy lessons, which resulted in increased writing skills.

As the Maryland Wolf Trap affiliate, YA served 52 early learning classrooms, reaching 1,163 Baltimore City students aged 3-5, and provided teachers with embedded training to make classrooms more dynamic and engaging by using the arts.

“The YA summer program impacted my life so much. I now feel great about speaking to a crowd. I feel confident about my tomorrow.”

Ken’Niya, Baltimore City Student
