Making project management a plus not a minusIf you are a telecom giant, how do you cope with a saturated market and strong competitors? The answer is setting up a new organization to foster innovation. The next step is to train people to move in such a new and demanding environment. I trained more that 100 project managers, stressing on the lateral communication rather than on hierarchical form : how to implement negotiation techniques, how to provide cohesiveness among different departments …

Moving the help desk technicians to training positionYou could say, this is easy because the techies have the knowledge, true, they do. But their tendency is to give answers rather than provide problems solving techniques. In this software company, the end result was to enable the trainer to explain and build path to understanding by improving their verbal skills sets.

Looking aheadThe tourism business is changing dramatically. Managers must lead teams through a literal digital maze. Leadership can be a question of survival. I currently work with 40 managers from various departments, on topics which included “Fostering cooperation”, “Sharing information”, “Putting the final client first”. Final evaluation is yet to be done but first feed backs indicate higher morale and better coordinated actions.

A Few More Words…

I deeply respect managers. Because I know how hard this function is.

Mexico (when learning is a fiesta!), Bangkok, Istanbul, Vienna for an electric equipment world leader, London, Paris for one of the first world ships producer, Stuttgart for a German toolmaker, Milano and Brussels for European automakers, Dubai for a French/American software joint venture: I have an extended experience and I still learn from my trainees as much as they learn from me.

I understand managers’ doubts about a strategy and concerns in front of a change. I know that a bright Power Point presentation is the easy part : I usually start my mission just after…

No solutions pre packed : being an experienced craftsman allows me to co build with you the right training.

You could think that a short meeting would be a good thing to start. Then you may ponder : “Wait, he is in Paris, I am in Berlin (Boston, Calcutta…)”
