2015/16 COLLECTION
THE COLLECTION IS COMPOSED OF REFINED CANNETÉS
AND DECORATIVE DETAILS THAT DRAW INSPIRATION FOR
ANTIQUE ARMOUR, REINTERPRETED USING GEOMETRIC
SHAPES TO CREATE A CONTEMPORARY TAKE ON THE
MOTIFS. FOLLOWING THOROUGH ARCHIVAL RESEARCH,
THE GEOMETRIC PATTERNS AND TEXTURES HAVE BEEN
DECONSTRUCTED, BOTH, MAGNIFIED AND MINIMISED TO
CREATE NEW AND INTERESTING PATTERNS. RESEARCH
INTO ANTIQUE ARMOURY REVEALED MANY FASCINATING
DETAILS, SUCH AS JAPANESE KATANA SWORD’S HAND
GUARDS, ‘TSUBAS’, OFFERING A UNIQUE SOURCE OF
INSPIRATION FOR THE PATTERNS IN THE COLLECTION. THE
INTERTWINED EFFECTS, CANNETÉS AND TEXTURES OF
THE ARMOUR HAVE BEEN TRANSFORMED INTO BEAUTIFUL
FABRICS WITH INTRICATE BINDING STRUCTURES AND
PRECIOUS MATERIALS INCLUDING SILK, METALLIC YARNS
AND METAL LAMINATES. A NEW COLOUR PALETTE IS
INTRODUCED TO THE COLLECTION FOR THE FIRST TIME
FEATURING STRONG JEWEL TONES SUCH AS RUBY RED
AND JADE GREEN. THE ORIGINS OF THE NAMES, I.E.
GEMSTONES, REFER TO THE HIGH-SHINE EFFECT OF
THESE COLOURS ON WOVEN SILK. NICKEL HAS ALSO BEEN
INTRODUCED AS A DARKER TONE TO CREATE DEPTH – AN
INTENSE YET SOPHISTICATED CHOICE.

Colors: Avorio, Argento, Oro pallido, Argento/bronzo, Verde giada, Rosso rubino. The geometric micro and macro pattern draw inspiration from Japanese Katana swords hand guard, Tsuba. The detailed design changes on the weft between a precious silk satin and high-shine effect.

Colors: Avorio, Ghiaccio, Argento/oro, Rosso rubino, Zaffiro/rubino, Giada/rubino, Nickel/nero. A deconstructed geometric pattern has been placed over an irregular silk canneté to create two very different effects: sleek satin and three-dimensional canneté. Together, these form an unexpected contrast between the design and the background.

Colors: Oro pallido, Verde giada, Nickel. Laminated canneté Jackson is one of the contemporary options in Armani/Casa’s selection of cannetés. The thick wool yarns create the fabric’s three-dimensional puffed effect. The fabric has been finished with a metallic laminate- a treatment to ensure an exquisite look.
