Germany, 1957. Attorney General Fritz Bauer receives crucial evidence on the whereabouts of SS-Obersturmbannfhrer Adolf Eichmann. Bauer, himself Jewish, has been trying to take crimes from the Third Reich to court ever since his return from Danish exile. However, he has had no success due to fierce German determina-
tion to repress its sinister past. Because of his distrust in the German justice system, Fritz Bauer contacts the Israeli secret service Mossad, and, by doing so, commits treason. Bauer is not seeking revenge for the Holocaust -- he is concerned with the German future.
Jewish-born but now secular Adrin and Catholic-born but now quasi-secular Leonora have finally reached their wedding day. Instead of gracefully embracing matrimony, Adrin spends the hours leading up to the ceremony trying to postpone it, not because he's got cold feet (or does he?), but because he's clumsily lost both his and his bride-to-bes
sacred wedding rings. Disaster ensues in director Ariel Winograd's winning comedy about the politics of the proverbial "Big Day."
Germany is considered one of the most democratic societies in the world, assuming the position of moral leader in Europe as it embraces hundreds of thousands of refugees. None of these develop-ments could have been imagined in 1945. Through personal stories Germans & Jews explores the countrys transformation from silence
about the Holocaust to facing it head on. What began as a private conversation between the two filmmakers and friends, Tal Recanati (Jewish) and Janina Quint (non-Jewish German), grew into a cultural exchange among many. Germans & Jews is provocative, unexpected and enlightening.
Aviva Kempners Rosenwald is the incredible story of Julius Rosenwald, who never finished high school, but rose to become the President of Sears. Influenced by the writings of the educator Booker T. Washington, this Jewish philanthropist joined forces with African American communities during the Jim Crow South to build over 5,300 schools during the early
part of the 20th century. Inspired by the Jewish ideals of tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam (repairing the world), and a deep concern over racial inequality in America, Julius Rosenwald used his wealth to become one of Americas most effective philanthropists. He gave away $62 million in his lifetime.
100-year-old Hattie Russ Gold and her sister 92-year-old Anne Russ Federman have life stories that hit all the key notes of the Jewish immigrant experience: hard work, humor, romance, and a little tsuris. Hattie and Anne are the two surviving daughters from the famed lox and herring
emporium Russ & Daughters on the Lower East Side. They are also the stars of The Sturgeon Queens. This documentary traces four generations of Russ family history, from patriarch Joel Russ, who immigrated to the US from Austria-Hungary with little more than the shirt on his back, to Josh Russ Tupper and Niki Russ Federman, Joels great grandchildren, now in their 30s, who run the store today.
Rebecca Abravanel is an only child, living a cloistered existence with her strictly religious Sephardic parents in Jerusalem. Unhappy with the restrictive traditions of home and community, she secretly breaks taboos, attending dance classes where she forms a relationship with secular
kibbutznik Dooby. Suspicious and angry in the face of Rebeccas growing acts of rebellion, her strict father reacts by setting in motion a prearranged marriage to an older widower with children of his own. After Rebecca runs away from home, the family conflict culminates in a moment of truth, forcing them to confront their beliefs and one another.

In Women in Sink, the director installs a mini film set over the washing basin of a little Arab hair salon in Haifa. Both Arab and Jewish women frequent the salon and the director chats with them, while shampooing their hair, about politics and love. What emerges from these conversations is an honest and nuanced portrayal of contemporary Israel.
In Search of Israeli Cuisine is a portrait of the Israeli people told through food. This feature length documentary puts a face on the culture of Israel, profiling chefs, home cooks, vintners, and cheese-makers drawn from the more than one hundred cultures that make up Israel today Jewish, Arab, Muslim, Christian, Druze. A rich and human story of the people emerges.
