Dear Educator,
Every new school year brings excitement to McWane Science Center – we love our field trips! We’ve been busy creating and preparing our education programs for the students who visit McWane Science Center, as well as for the students we visit in the community.
There are some new programs this year, as well as a few changes that will allow us to serve you better – I know you will find these helpful for your planning. McWane has a long tradition of providing great hands-on, inquiry based experiences for grades 4K through 12 that are a complement to science classroom learning. Our talented team of education specialists present programs supporting the Alabama College and Career Ready Standards, as well as enhancing science knowledge and stimulating students’ interest in science and technology.
I hope you will find an educational program for your class in this guide to go along with your school field trip. Please let us know if we can help with your planning or if you have any questions about the programs.
Thank you for bringing your students to McWane Science Center – our mission is to change lives through Science and Wonder, and we’re looking forward to your field trip!
A Message from theEducation Team

Educational Programming Support
Scholarships fund field trips to McWane Science Center
McWane Science Center has developed the Educational Scholarship Fund to help provide better access to hands-on science education programs to pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade students from low income and at-risk populations. It is McWane Science Center’s goal to serve as an extension of the classroom and provide the supplies, programming, laboratories, and resources that are currently unavailable to children in disadvantaged schools and households.
The Educational Scholarship Fund can be used to assist with the cost of field trips and outreach programs. Funds are limited and will be offered on a first come first serve basis for Title I and other qualifying schools and organizations in Alabama.
McWane Science Center’s Educational Scholarship Fund will cover the cost of admission into the Adventure Halls for students, as well as an optional education program (subject to availability). Educational Scholarship Funds will NOT cover transportation, parking, bus costs and other McWane Science Center options such as IMAX films, group lunches, concessions, etc.
To see if your school or organization is eligible, fill out the application form on our website at www.mcwane.org and a reservations specialist will contact you.
