PHILANTHROPIC EDUCATION• IncoordinationwiththeMontanaCommunityFoundationandThriventFinancial,wehostedaworkshoponlegacyplanningforpeopleoffaith.

• Forthesecondyear,weorganizedalantern-makingpartyandprovidedlegacy-planningmaterialsaspartoftheannualFestivaloftheDead.

• Wehelpedcommunitymembersdistribute$29,843anonymouslyto12nonprofitorganizations.

Whenyou’refocusedonprovidingcomprehensivehealthservicestomen,women,andchildrenintheMissoulaarea,projectslikestrengtheningtiesbetweenyourboardandstaff,andempoweringthoseindividualstoarticulateyourstoryinaclearandconsis-tentwaycantakeabackseattootherpriorities.AsoneofthegrantrecipientsofourMissoula Project for Nonprofit Excellence, we gave Blue Mountain Clinic (BMC) the resourcestheyneededtoaddressthoseimportantorganizationaldevelopmentissues.BMC worked with a local consultant who helped them create a communication and brandingstrategythatincludedmessagingtrainingforkeystakeholders.Theresultisathree-yearplanthatwillraisecommunityawarenessoftheclinic’sdiverseserviceswhilecombattingpublicmisperception.BlueMountainClinicwasoneofthreeorganizationsweselectedtoreceivethecapacitybuildinggrant.

GRANTMAKING• Weprovidedorganizationalassessmentandplanning

support to Blue Mountain Clinic, Home ReSource, and MissoulaCommunityAccessTelevisionaspartofourgrantprogram,MissoulaProjectforNonprofitExcellence.

• We awarded four college scholarships to two budding engineers, a future anthropologist, and a soon-to-be wildlife biologist.Wealsosentthefourfreshmencarepackagesduringfinalsweek.

• We donated infrastructure grants to support the Missoula FoodBank’scapitalcampaignandtothenewMissoulaArtPark.

MISSOULA PROJECT FOR NONPROFIT EXCELLENCE PROFILE: BLUE MOUNTAIN CLINIC

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP• Throughfiscalsponsorship,wegaveflighttofledglinginitia-

tives Cuban Choir to Montana, Preserve Historic Missoula, andTellUsSomething.

• Astheorganizerofthecommunity-widefundraiser,GiveLocalMissoula,wenotonlydistributed$234,500to132localnonprofits,wealsoprovidednonprofitstaffwithsocialmedia,visualstorytelling,andfundraisingtraining.

• Signature program Climate Smart Missoula completed the community’sfirstGreenhouseGasEmissionsInventory.Thisportraitofourcurrentenergyuse—fromtransportation,buildings,business,andwaste—willhelpmakeussmarteraboutfutureenergyreductionstrategies.
