Letter from Our President

It seems with each passing year, our Delaware County community grows not only in size but in scope. The county’s population is booming—and at the heart of it all is SourcePoint. It is our vision that every person age 55 and older is empowered to live life to the fullest. Our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters work hard to make that vision a reality.

With the county’s continuing growth in 2016, we strove to stay ahead of the curve and to anticipate the needs of our aging population. To that end, we are always challenging ourselves to do better, to reach more people in the county, and to grow services to enhance the quality of life for older adults.

In 2016, we recruited a number of new staff, including licensed social workers to work one-on-one with our in-home care clients. By the end of the year, we dropped the minimum age requirement for in-home services from 60 to 55, meeting the needs of a greater number of individuals in the county and further strengthening our mission to help our community set a course to live well after 55.

We further expanded our outreach efforts throughout the county by bringing programs, such as New to Medicare classes and caregiver support groups, to local libraries, churches, and other community centers. This outreach allowed more older adults to benefit from these programs and to become aware of what is being offered by SourcePoint.

In 2017, we look forward to celebrating our 25th anniversary. As we reflect on the past, we will remain in planning mode for the future. There is always work to be done, and we are uniquely positioned to address the growing needs in the county. Thanks to your support—as an advocate, donor, volunteer, taxpayer, and more—we look forward to serving Delaware County for the next 25 years.

Sincerely,

David Black2016 PresidentSourcePoint Board of Directors

Our Impact

3

In Delaware County, aging is our business. SourcePoint provides an enrichment center for adults age 55 and older to be active and healthy. We provide in-home care services that help seniors live safely in their own homes. And for those caring for an older loved one, we also provide free resources and support for family caregivers.

In our vision of a community where every person 55 and over is empowered to live life to the fullest, SourcePoint provides a spectrum of care for Delaware County residents as they age. Whether an individual is 55 or 95, we can help—from providing health and wellness programs and social opportunities at our enrichment center to services that help seniors live safely at home.

Eligibility for our in-home services is based on need, not on income. Clients are assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine level of need and ability to pay, and co-pays are assigned based on a sliding fee scale. This helps ensure that local tax levy dollars are wisely used. In 2016, 40.5 percent of our clients had zero costs, while 23.7 percent paid the full cost of their service fees.

Of the individuals who contacted SourcePoint to inquire about in-home care services this year:

• 94 percent enrolled in the program.

• 98 percent stated they would recommend SourcePoint to a friend.

• 93 percent said they continue to live at home because of our in-home care services.

Our MissionThe mission of SourcePoint is to help our community set a course to live well after 55.

Our Donors

If you are a property owner in Delaware County, you already support our mission through your local property taxes. Your tax dollars provide more than 80 percent of the funding needed to help county residents set their own course to thrive after 55. And for that support, we are very grateful.

The other 20 percent of our funding comes from grants, corporate support, and the generous donations of individuals and families who wish to make an impact on the lives of local older adults. We are grateful to those investors who support our work in the community.

A monthly gift of $19.92 or a one-time annual gift of $240 or more qualifies donors for recognition in our 1992 Founders Club. The individuals and organizations listed below each contributed $240 or more in 2016. An additional thank you goes to the anonymous donors who contributed more than $37,000.

For a complete list of the more than 1,000 individuals who contributed in some way last year, go to MySourcePoint.org/impact.
