James Dutton was born in Marlow, England and studied flute at the Royal College of Music in London. During his time at the RCM, he won prizes for orchestral, solo and chamber music performances. He has also been awarded two Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Silver Medals, and a Fellowship in Flute Performance from Trinity College London.
In 1995 he was a Park Lane Group Young Artist, giving his London recital debut at the Purcell Room, including the world premiere of “The Colour of Pomegranates”, written for him by the leading British composer Julian Anderson.
In 1997 he was appointed principal flute of the Band of the Scots Guards in London. He has appeared with them as a soloist in concerts all over the UK and further afield. Performances have included solo appearances at the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Beaulieu-sur-Mer music festival, a concert tour of major cities across Australia, and alongside artists such as violinist Nicola Benedetti and tenor Ian Bostridge.
He has also been principal flute of the Showbiz Pops Orchestra, CAMus Sinfonietta, Cygnus Orchestra of London, L’Anima di Musica and the Perspectives Ensemble. He has recently been appointed co-principal flute of the London Military Band.
Over the last twenty years he has appeared in numerous recitals in venues across London as a soloist and chamber musician. He also appears on many recordings both with his own band and as a guest performer, and has given live radio and TV broadcasts. He is delighted to have been invited to give recitals and a masterclass as a guest of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls this winter, marking his debut as a solo artist in the USA.
Ivan Konev completed his Bachelor degree in Piano performance from the Music College affiliated with the Moscow Conservatory and Master degree in Piano performance from Gnessin’s Music Academy (Moscow, Russia). In 2010 Ivan finished his Doctoral degree in Piano performance from the University of Minnesota.
As a soloist, Dr. Konev has won prizes in a number of international and local piano competitions, including the Andorra International Piano Competition, Corpus Christi International Piano Competition, Schubert Club Scholarship Competition, University of Minnesota School of Music Concerto Competition, and the Bell Scholarship Competition.
Mr. Konev has appeared numerous times in solo and chamber music concerts in such venues as Embassy of the United States in Moscow, Great, Small and Rachmaninoff Halls of the Moscow Conservatory, Sundin Music Hall and Ted Mann Concert Hall in Minneapolis among others. Dr. Konev is a Founder and Artistic Director of the UWRF Piano Fest and Piano & Strings summer camp in River Falls, WI where he is a member of the UWRF piano faculty.
Margaret Jane Wray is an award winning American dramatic soprano known for her interpretations of the works of Richard Wagner.
Wray began her career as a member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Young Artist program in the mid to late 1980s. She made her debut with the company in 1987 as Annina in Verdi’s La Traviata.[1] Wray was quickly identified as one of the most talented young artists in the field and success soon followed. In 1989, Wray was awarded the prestigious Richard Tucker Award. Wray went on to appear in lead roles with many of the world’s
leading opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Seattle Opera, La Scala, the Bavarian State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, Opéra National de Paris, La Monnaie, L’Opéra de la Bastille, Oper Frankfurt, Teatro Regio (Turin), Théâtre du Capitole, Teatro Massimo Bellini, Opéra de Nice, and Welsh National Opera among others.[2] Wray has also had a prolific career as a concert artist appearing with many of the world’s finest conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Mariss Jansons, Seiji Ozawa, Kwun Chung and James Conlon.[3] She has also performed with many of the world’s great orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony and National Symphony Orchestra among others.

Kristin Tjornehoj is the Director of Bands and Orchestra at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she conducts the UWRF Symphony Band, St. Croix Valley Community Band and the St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra. She also teaches courses in conducting, wind band history and literature, music appreciation and world music. Dr. Tjornehoj currently serves as the chair of the Music Department at UW-River Falls.
An active guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator, Dr. Tjornehoj has served in these capacities throughout the United States and abroad. In April 2015, she served as guest conductor for the Prague Castle Spanish Hall Concert with Hradní stráže a Policie ČR (Václav Blahunek, director). She has also led numerous performance tours both at home and abroad. Recent experiences include bi-annual World Music and Music Appreciation study tours in Scotland, England and France. In 2013, she co-founded the Three Rivers Concert Band, a group of adult musicians from Minnesota and Wisconsin, who collaborate and participate in international outreach tours. This last June, the group traveled to Budapest, Vienna and Prague. The next trip for Three Rivers Concert Band is June 2018 to Switzerland, France and Italy.
