Again this year we will use pre-entry. Below is an entry form similar to the one each 4-H’er will be sent. It is extremely important that it be filled out accurately and completely. Indicate what you plan to bring to fair. All entry tags will be computer generated in the Extension Office, according to the pre-entry form returned to the office. The entry form will be sent out the last part of June, and must be returned to the Extension Office no later than July 8th.

Entry day is Saturday, July 16th at the Kearney County Fairgrounds. All 4-H Family & Consumer Science, Agriculture and Miscellaneous exhibits (Except livestock, small animals and clothing) are to be entered from 8:00 A.M.—10:00 A.M. on that day.

Please note: Talent show and Presentations Contest require a call to the office to enter. As well, sewing/clothing items have a separate entry form and should not be included on this form. Please call the office if you have any questions.

4-H CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION JUDGING& FASHION SHOW

TUESDAY, JULY 12th, 2016

8:30 A.M. JUDGING

7:30 P.M. PUBLIC FASHION SHOW

KEARNEY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDSInformation letters and registration forms will be sent to all

4-H’ers enrolled in clothing projects. Look for yours in early June.

✄ 4-H Construction Judging: Clothing items will be judged by interview.

You will be scheduled for an interview time on July 12th

. Clothing

posters, notebooks, etc. will also be judged July 12th

, but not

interviewed.

✄ 4-H Fashion Show: You may model one outfit from each clothing project

you are enrolled in. These include the construction projects (all Steam

Clothing Units), Knitting and Crocheting.

✄ You may also model one item in “Just for Fun”, but it cannot be judged

for construction - it is just for fun. It must exhibit some of the skills learned in your

construction project.

✄ You may model a purchased garment in Shopping

in Style, even if you model something you have

made.

✄ You MUST be in the Public Fashion Show to receive

premium money and ribbons for Fashion Show.

Four divisions—Individual or Team Presentations (2 members) Illustrated Presentation (using props, posters, computer-based visuals, handouts, etc.) 4-H Film Fest (digital video) Teaching Presentation (live interactive presentation) First-Timer (never given a 4-H Presentation before)

* Premier Presenter ContestKearney County will nominate one 4-H’er (must be 12 years old as of January 1st) or team to participate in the Premier Presenter Contest. This will be a special contest for the “Best of the Best”. Each participant will receive a savings bond if they give their presentation at State Fair.

Pre-Register by calling the Extension Office by July 8th with your title, division and type (individual or team).

4-H FAVORITE FOOD FAIRTUESDAY, JULY 12

KEARNEY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS Individual or Team (2 –person) Must be team entry to

qualify for State Fair Culinary Challenge. Set up 9:00 A.M.

Judging begins at 9:30 A.M. Must be enrolled in any

Foods/Nutrition or Home Environment Project. Displays

must be set up by 4-H’er. No help from parents or leaders.

All entries are interview judged.

Before the contest, you need to choose a favorite food,

plan a menu using that food and plan a table setting to

coordinate with your menu.

Guidelines are available in the office.

On contest day, bring to the fairgrounds:

Your favorite food, prepared and ready to serve

2 display cards, any size. One has your menu; one

has the recipe of your favorite food.

Items for your table setting, including dishes,

silverware, centerpiece, table covering, napkins,

serving pieces, etc…

May be set for 1, 2, or 4 people

CALL THE EXTENSION OFFICE BY JULY 8TH TO PRE-REGISTER.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ENTRY ON YOUR PRE-ENTRY FORM.

**Special Class for Kearney County 4-H Clover Kids Enter any item made in your Clover Kid Projects or at Clover Kid Camp. Receive a Special Ribbon and premium for each exhibit.

Exhibits for the Bake ‘N Take Contest are to be entered Saturday,

July 16th

, 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at the Fairgrounds.

Any 4-H member enrolled in any food

and nutrition project may enter one ex-

hibit in the 4-H Bake ‘N Take Contest.

An entry consists of a baked product

presented in an attractive way, as if be-

ing given to an elderly or shut-in person

or a special friend. The amount of food

will vary, depending on the size of the

container. There should be enough of

your food so you have an attractive

package and so the judge can sample

the food.

Each exhibit will receive comments from the judge and will

compete for the People’s Choice Award, with voting

during the fair. The winner will be announced at County

Fair and will receive the Bake ‘N Take Trophy.

NOTICE TO FOOD EXHIBITORS

A 4-H Bake sale will be held Sunday, July 17th, 12:00-6:00P.M. at the Kearney County Fair. Sold will be those perishable items brought in for exhibit and judging on Entry Day. Proceeds from the bake sale will be used for 4-H programming.

Anyone wishing to bring Extra items for the Bake Sale may do so on Sunday at 11:30A.M.

Note: This means that NO food items will be picked up Saturday after judging.

Contest consists of: •Identification classes in fruits, vegetables, trees and foliage•Placing classes 1 to 3 sets of fruits, vegetables or flowers

- Earn County Ribbon & Premium- Intermediates & Seniors vie for State Fair 4-H Horticulture Judging Team.

All 4-H Horse Entry Forms are due in the Extension Office no later than Friday, July 8th. Make sure all forms are filled out completely and accurately.

Required dress for the Horse Show is: White shirt, blue-denim jeans, green 4-H arm band, boots and hat. If this is your first year in 4-H, the green 4-H arm band is free. If not, the cost is $1.50 each.

How do you win an award? A committee will judge all awards books. They will select junior and senior county

award recipients, Outstanding 4-H Members and nominees for state awards. They will also give you comments to emphasize your strong points and improve your awards book. Your achievements will be announced during 4-H Achievement Night this Fall.

Diamond Clover Awards—Due August 8th Go to http://www.4h.unl.edu for a form. Submit completed plan, accomplishments and evaluation to Extension Office by August 7th. Requires signatures of 4-H’er, Parent and Leader. Awards will be recognized at 4-H Achievement Night.
