The nation’s need for well-trained physicians and biomedical researchers is greater than ever. MCW-Milwaukee invites you to explore your interests in biomedical sciences through a summer training experience as a research intern.

THE SUMMER RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

DSHREP is a competitive program designed to provide research opportunities for undergraduate students from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in biomedical science, including individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, underrepresented cultural and ethnic groups, and individuals with disabilities. Our target ethnic groups are: African Americans, Mexican-Americans, Native Americans (American Indians and Alaska Natives), Hmong and mainland Puerto Ricans.

Qualified diverse students who are accepted into the program are “matched” with an established faculty investigator(s) to participate in a research project(s) addressing the causes, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular, pulmonary and hematological diseases.

As the Associate Dean for Student Affairs/Diversity,

I am passionate about education and my work gives me the chance to couple that passion with my personal conviction of supporting students who are underrepresented in medicine with the opportunity to realize their dreams as physicians and biomedical researchers. MCW provides a supportive environment in which students are mentored and challenged during their summer experience. Our office is here to help ensure your successful growth and development.

Devotion to our students. Exceptional education and clinical development. Passionate faculty and researchers.

Compassionate clinical care and dedication to the health of the community – this is the Medical College of Wisconsin. I invite you to discover more about our summer enrichment programs and consider applying.
