Impact to-date
• 13 suppliers (11 in previous year) have provided CHAI with historical shipment data that is consolidated in a secure, confidential database
• Suppliers: Bayer, Cupid, Female Health Company, Merck/MSD, Pfizer, Pregna, SMB Corporation, as well as members of the GEMs Caucus, Cipla, CR Zhizhu, Helm AG, Mylan, PT Tunggal, and Shanghai Dahua, thanks to our partner, the Concept Foundation

There is an overall increase in the implied contraceptive users due to the increased demand for long-acting reversible implants
• Total number of implied users, from 92 million in 2011 to 112 million in 2015
• Increase due to more users adopting longer-acting implants, which offer higher couple-years of protection (CYP) relative to short-acting methods
Total FP2020 Users on Product-Based Modern Methods
Supplier Shipment Analysis
8
Between 2011 and 2015, there was a significant increase in demand for long-acting, reversible implants
• The FP2020 public market size has remained relatively flat between 2011-2015, key drivers include:
• Reduction in volume for Orals Combined & Progestin Only, from 311M units in 2011 to 149M units in 2015
• Reduction in price of Implants in 2013
• Increase in volume of implants, from 3M units in 2011 to 10M units in 2015
Total FP2020 Market Size
Supplier Shipment Analysis
9
LARCs now represent over half of the user method mix, although short-acting methods still dominate market share
• Although LARCs represented 51% of the overall user method mix, the overall spend on LARCs at US$92M in 2015, was approximately one third of the total market value

Donor spending, and the implied users supported by donor-funded procurement, has decreased since 2013, based on RHI data
DONOR-SUPPORTED USERS AND COMMODITY SPENDING
• Donor spending, as seen in the RHI data, from US$203M in 2013 to US$186 M in 2015 .
• Users supported by donor-funded procurement from 68M in 2013 to 60M in 2015.
• Demand for implants reflected in procurement patterns of both UNFPA and USAID
Donor Funding Analysis
11
Both CHAI and FP2020's reporting measures indicate continued growth in the number of modern method users
