HOLCOMBE ROAD MARKET REVAMP COMPLETE
A new Brook StreetWork has started to improve Brook Street which runs off the High Road, near Bruce Grove. Brook Street will be cleaner, brighter and safer after the makeover is complete. It will also be home to a new, York stone memorial to mark the consecrated burial ground on this site.
Could you run the Monument Way cafe?Located in the Tottenham Green Conservation Area, the former public toilet at the junction of Tottenham High Road and Monument Way is a much loved local landmark. After being vacant for a number of years, the building has been renovated and we are now inviting expressions of interest from prospective tenants to lease the building as a bar/café.
All submissions of interest need to be submitted by 4 December 2016. For full information visit www.tottenham.london/MWC
Holcombe Road Market, which has been trading in the area for nearly 100 years, has re-opened after a major refurbishment.
The Market, opposite Bruce Grove Station, has a new and improved layout, new kiosks and new paving. The plans for the revamped Market were developed in conjunction with the Bruce Grove Stakeholder Group, which consisted of local residents and businesses.
Stalls include Hall’s Greengrocers, Thompson’s Seafood; a new local business Prestige Patisserie and Brown Eagle. Dave Hall who runs
Hall’s Greengrocers with his brother Andy said:
“The new market looks amazing and we’ve had an overwhelming response from local residents. Hopefully this will be the start of the next successful chapter in our family-run business which has been trading in Tottenham for approaching a century.”
Make sure you head down to the High Road and visit the new and improved Holcombe Road Market.

IMPROVING BRUCE GROVETransport for London (TfL) have worked closely with Haringey Council to develop proposals that would improve road safety and pedestrian facilities on the section of the A10 High Road from the junction with Forster Road to the junction with Bruce Grove.
The proposed changes include:
Improvements to pedestrian facilities and the town centre environment• Widening pavements and shortening crossing
distances to improve pedestrian safety and comfort at the junction with Bruce Grove, and repaving footways along the High Road from building line to kerb with high-quality materials
• Introducing new advanced stop lines at all signalised junctions so cyclists can wait ahead of other traffic
• Relocating the signalised pedestrian crossing north of junction with St Loy’s Road to a more central location closer to Holcombe Road Market (opposite Lloyds Pharmacy) and widening footways to improve safety and convenience for pedestrians. In addition, an
unsignalised crossing would be located just north of the junction with St Loy’s Road
• Merging bus stops for northbound bus services near Bruce Grove Station and reviewing the bus shelters to ensure good use of space for bus passengers and pedestrians
Changes to off-peak loading/unloading facilities on the High Road• Increasing the length of the southbound loading bay
opposite Bruce Grove Station from 12m to 26m, and removing the loading bay near the junction with Brook Street
• Increasing the length of the northbound loading bay from 35m to 40m

IMPROVING BRUCE GROVE
Championing Heritage‘How do you stop a 300 hundred year old building from falling down?’ ‘Why should we restore our high streets?’ ‘What is a Conservation Area?’ These are some of the questions being discussed by north Tottenham’s Heritage Champions. The Champions are a 20 strong group of local residents who are participating in a programme of events and workshops that will help them develop the skills to support and champion Tottenham’s heritage for years to come.
This project is part of the North Tottenham Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI), a Heritage Lottery and Haringey Council funded project to restore 28 historic buildings on Tottenham High Road.
Do you have records or memories of the north Tottenham area? We are especially interested in photographs. Contact Adam at: [email protected] or 07811 421 432.
