2016 Summer Cinema/Animation/Multimedia Internship USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies
Description: The USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies (WIES) is looking for a summer Science Media intern to assist with the development of short videos, sound bytes, animations and/or other multimedia products to highlight research and education programs at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center (WMSC) on Catalina Island. Working with a diverse and dynamic team of scientists, educators and staff, the intern will be based at the island and create compelling stories and snapshots that capture the Institute’s summer research across a wide breadth of environmental themes, ranging from molecular and microbial to global scales. See an example from our 2014 intern here. Interns will assist with:
- Developing story boards for research and education themes - Creating videos, animations, and/or other multimedia products to communicate research
to diverse audiences Qualifications:
- Available to work 30-35 hours/week at the WMSC at Catalina Island from June 20 – August 11, 2016 (8 weeks)
- Must have experience and a multimedia portfolio for review - Current USC undergraduate student or recent graduate (<1 year) - Science background/coursework desired, but not required
Compensation will include:
- Housing and all meals at the WMSC on Catalina Island for the entire 8 week period
- Boat transportation to and from Catalina Island (Mon-Fri boats are available throughout the summer)
- $3,200 stipend
