COACH PARKING WELCOME 2016 CONTACT US If you have any questions or feedback on this brochure or your visit to Queenstown. TO QUEENSTOWN The Queenstown Lakes District Council has been working with the Bus and Coach Association of New Zealand and has developed this simple brochure to assist you in finding a coach park in Queenstown and to offer a guide to the bylaws that could apply to you. You and your passengers are highly valued visitors to our district and our towns, with Queenstown being one of the most popular tourism destinations in New Zealand. WORKING TOGETHER The council is very conscious of the many needs and expectations of all our visitors. Above all, the expectation that Queenstown is a pristine and clean environment is highly valued and indeed expected by all our visitors. Please help us to manage these expectations by giving some consideration to the impact a coach can have on this environment. It’s important that you are aware of those expectations which are captured in a QLDC bylaw. In order to assist you to find places to park your coach the council has provided a map with parking options marked. This will not fulfil all coach parking requirements and it is important that bus companies and the accommodation sector continue to contribute to the parking resource in partnership with the council. A PARTNERSHIP The council is committed to providing infrastructure and amenity which will continue to place this district amongst the top iconic destinations of the world. In return we ask that coach drivers help us by continuing to abide by the following key bylaw points: When Parking on-street or in a council car-park, only park in spaces set aside for coaches and buses. Do not clean your coach or bus where the dirty water can enter a stormwater drain. The stormwater goes directly into Lake Wakatipu. When parked on street do not have your coach or bus idling for more than five minutes. OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION The Queenstown Lakes District is the fastest growing district in New Zealand. It covers an area of 8467 square kilometres. The peak day population was estimated to be 75,377 in 2006 and 96,500 in 2015. The average day population was estimated to be 34,076 in 2006 and 47,800 in 2015 (these figures include visitors). The resident population was estimated to be 20,500 in 2006 and 30,700 in 2015.
