2016 USATF ANNUAL MEETING December 1-4

MASTER REPORT (Duane Gosa)

We started off with the Master Regional Coordinators meeting that was on held Thursday morning, each coordinator had to give an overall view of their season which is available online with the final annual report under master track. The Master had an election for new chair: Rex Harvey, vice chair: Jerry Weiner and secretary: Amanda Scottie for the Master Executive Broad. The Executive Committee 2017 budget Item 1 was passed for approve pending on the request for an increase from the original funding from the home office.

The Jesse Owens Award winner for Master was Irene Obere W82, the 2016 Master Male Athlete of the year winner was Bill Collins M65 and their performance achievements for 2016 are listed on Item 2. The Master David Pain Distinguished Service Award winner was Jeff Davison his highlights over the years are on Item 3. The top Female and Male in each age winner are listed on Item 4.

The only site selection bid for 2019 for the indoors Championship was Winston-Salem, NC and they were awarded the bid. Two site selection bid for the 2018 Outdoor Championship were from Spokane, Washington and Iowa. Spokane was awarded 2018 and Iowa 2019 Outdoors Championship. The 2017 Indoor Championship will be held on Feb. 17-19, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM, and the WMA Indoor Championship will be Mar. 19-25, 2017 in Daegu, South Korea. Outdoor Championship will be July 13-16 in Baton Rouge, LA and the NCCWMA Outdoors Championship is July 20-23, 2017, Juarez, Mexico. The Masters has a Master Track & Field Invitation Program that allows a masters event to be run at the Indoors and Outdoors National and Worlds Championships Mark Cleary is in charge of the selection of the National event and filling the field the event this year is the 400m dash.

There will be serval track meets added to the schedule 2017 year; The Ohio State will be continuing some Masters events to their indoor meets and Jesse Owens outdoor meet on Athletic.net and World Masters Games, Senior Games, Masters Outdoors combined events Championship and the Master Outdoors Throwing Championship Infor for all master events can be found on the WWW.USATF.org or www.usatfmasters.org .

USADA is the National governing board for drug testing in the US their web-site can be helpful on rules of what’s legal and not prohibited medication in the USATF sport.
