Who stretches out the Heaven like a

pavilion; Who covers the higher rooms thereof with water; Who makes the clouds Thy Chariot; Who walks upon the wings of the winds;

Who makes Thy Angels spirits;: and

Thy Ministers a Burning Fire;

Who has founded the earth upon its

own bases - it shall not be moved forever and ever.

The deep like a garment is its clothing - above the mountains shall the waters stand.

At Thy Rebuke they shall flee - at the

The mountains ascend, and the plains descend into the place, which Thou hast founded for them.

Thou hast set a boundary which they shall not pass over; neither shall they return to cover the earth.

Thou send forth springs in the vales - between the midst of the hills the waters shall pass.

All the beasts of the field shall drink -

the wild asses shall expect in their thirst.

Over them the birds of the air shall

dwell - from the midst of the rocks they shall give forth their voices.

Thou waters the hills from Thine Upper Rooms - the earth shall be filled with the Fruit of Thy Works - bringing forth grass for cattle, and herb for the service of mankind.

That Thou may bring bread out of the earth, and that wine may cheer the heart of mankind.

That he may make the face cheerful with oil - and that bread may strengthen man’s heart.

The trees of the field shall be filled, and the Cedars of Lebanon, which He hath planted - there the Sparrows shall make their nests - the highest of them is the house of the Heron.

The high hills are a refuge for the harts - the rock for the hares.

He hath made the moon for seasons.

The sun knows its going down.

Thou hast appointed darkness, and it

is night - in it shall all the beasts of the woods go about -

The young lions roaring after their pray, and seeking their meat from God.

The sun rises, and they are gathered together: and they shall lie down in their dens.

Man shall go forth to his work, and to

his labour until the evening.

How great art Thy Works, O Lord!

Thou hast made all things in Wisdom - the earth is filled with Thy Riches.

So is this great sea, which stretches wide its arms - there are creeping things without number - creatures small and great.

Allilouia! Allilouia! Allilouia! > Doxa Si, O Theos! (3)

I Elpis imon, Kyrie: > Doxa Si!

There the ships shall go - the sea dragon which Thou hast formed - to play therein.

All expect of Thee that Thou grant

them food in season.

What Thou give to them they shall

gather up:

When Thou open Thy Hand, all things

shall be filled with Thy Goodness.

But when Thou turn away Thy Face, they shall be troubled.

When Thou take away their breath,

they shall perish and return again to the earth.

Thou shalt send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created, and Thou shall renew the face of the earth.

May the Glory of the Lord endure

forever!

The Lord shall rejoice in His Works. He looks upon the earth, and makes it

tremble.

He touches the mountains and they

smoke.

I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing to my God as long as I exist!

May my words be pleasing to Him - I

shall be glad in the Lord.

May sinners cease from the earth - and

the lawless - so as to be no more.

Bless the Lord, O my soul! The sun knows its going down. Thou

hast appointed darkness, and it is night...

Thou hast made all things in Wisdom...

Nay! Let me – like her – approach Thee to embrace Thy Feet and kiss Them, and

to dare to lave them, spending streaming tears, which Thou awakens, and

accept as Myrrh most precious.

Wash me with the tears Thou granted, O Word of God, and with them Cleanse me;

grant Remission of my stumblings, and bestow on me Forgiveness.

All my many ills Thou knowest; all my wounds Thou knowest also, and my bruises

Thou beholdest.

But my Faith Thou knowest likewise; and my Zeal Thine Eye beholdeth, and my

groanings, too, Thou hearest. Not by Thee is left unnoticed, O God my Maker

and Redeemer, any tear although singly falling, nor of single tears one

fraction.

With Thine Eyes hast Thou beheld me, and has learnt mine imperfection. On the

Book of Thy Remembrance can be seen, inscribed already, even deeds not yet

committed.

Look on me abased before Thee; see the soreness of my grieving; and, O God of

All, Forgive me all my manifold transgressions – that a heart washed clean of

evil and a mind with Awe atremble and a spirit of contrition I may bring to this

Partaking of Thy Pure and Holy Mysteries, which impart both Life and godship

unto all whose heart sincerely longs to eat Thee and to drink Thee. For Thou

said, O my Master, “Everyone who eats My Body and receives My Blood to

drink it, he shall be in Me forever; and in him shall I be also.”

Perfect Truth, my God and Master, is that Word by Thee once spoken – for whoever

shares Thy Graces, which Divinely bring us godship, surely he is alone no

longer but with Thee, my Christ, he abideth – Radiant Light of Triple Daystar,

on the world with splendour shining.

And that I may not live lonely and apart from Thee, O Lifegiver – Thou art Breath

to me, and Living; Thou for me art all my Gladness; for the world art Thou

Salvation – I have therefore come to seek Thee. See the tears, which Thou hast

wakened, and my spirit of contrition.

I implore Thee Who art Ransom for my stumblings, to accept me and to let me be

partaker of Thy Quickening Blameless Mysteries, and not to suffer

Condemnation.

Bide with me, as Thou Promised; in my wretchedness Protect me – so that never

that Deceiver – having found me undefended by Thy Grace – may seize upon

me with his wiles, to snare and coax me from Thy Words that make me

godlike.

Therefore I fall down before Thee, and with fervour call upon Thee – as the

Prodigal was welcome, and the Woman who approached Thee, so in Mercy

also welcome me – a prodigal and a sinner - for behold, I now approach Thee

– humble and contrite of spirit.

O Saviour, well I know that no one has offended more by stumbling than have I;

and that no other did such deeds as I have committed. But to set against this

knowledge other Knowledge have I also – not the number of offences, nor the

greatness of my sinning, can surpass my God’s Forebearance and the Height

of His Compassion.

Yea, by Mercy of Thy Kindness Thou Cleanses and renders shining all who warmly

turn Repentant – Thine own Light bestowing on them, and Communion of Thy

Godhead, working with a Love ungrudging. And – a marvel for the Angels

and for human understanding – Thou hast converse with them often, as one

does when friends are trusted.

These are thoughts that give me boldness, O my Christ, and wings for soaring.

And encouraged by the Riches of Thy Benefactions towards us, with rejoicing

yet with trembling, of Thy Fire am I partaker, although but straw – and – how

amazing! – sprinkled with Thy Dew from Heaven I am like that Bush that the

Prophet saw, which unconsumed was Burning.

> I BELIEVE, O LORD, AND I CONFESS, that Thou art verily the Christ, the Son of

the Living God, Who came into the world to Save sinners, of whom I am the

first. Also I believe, that This is Thy Sacred Body, and This Thy Precious

Blood. Therefore I pray to Thee: have Mercy upon me and pardon all my

transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, in word, deed and thought, both

Mysteries, for the Remission of sins and for Life Eternal. Amen.

> BEHOLD, I APPROACH FOR HOLY COMMUNION. O Creator, burn me not as I

me from every stain.

> RECEIVE ME TODAY, O SON OF GOD, as a Partaker of Thy Mystical Feast; for I

> TREMBLE, O MORTAL, BEHOLDING THE DIVINE BLOOD. For it is as a lighted

coal burning the unworthy. It is God’s Body and Deifies and Nourishes me.

It Deifies my soul, and wondrously Nourishes my mind.

> THOU HAS SMITTEN ME WITH YEARNING, O CHRIST, and with Thy Divine Love

Thou has changed me; but burn away with Spiritual Fire my sins, and

make me worthy to be filled with the Joy of Thee; so that rejoicing in Thy

Goodness, I may magnify Thy Two Presences.

> INTO THE MAGNIFICENCE OF THY SAINTS, HOW SHALL I, THE UNWORTHY,

ENTER? For should I dare to enter the Festal Chamber, my Robe betrays

me, for it is not a Festal Garment, and I shall be bound and cast out by the

Angels. Cleanse my soul, O Lord, from pollution, and by Thy Compassion

Save me.

> O MERCIFUL MASTER, LORD JESUS CHRIST MY GOD, LET NOT THESE HOLY

GIFTS BE UNTO ME FOR JUDGEMENT THROUGH MY UNWORTHINESS, but

rather for the Purification and Sanctification of my soul and body, and as

an Earnest of the Life and Kingdom to come. For it is good for me to cleave

O despise not me, I pray Thee – nor my words so poorly chosen, as I come with

shameless boldness – but, my Christ, let me with freedom tell Thee my heart’s

intention.

No! I cannot! Thou must teach me what to do and what to utter!

I confess myself a sinner – worse than that poor Fallen Woman, who had learnt

where Thou wast staying, and with myrrh that love had purchased, laved Thy

Feet, O Christ, my Master and my God, not lacking boldness.

And as she was not rejected when with all her heart she sought Thee, shun not

R E A D E R In the beginning God created Heaven and earth.

And the Earth was invisible and

unfinished; and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the water.

And God said: “Let there be light!”

and there was light. And God beheld the light - it was good.

And God divided the light from the

darkness.

And God called the light ‘Day’ - the

darkness He called ‘Night’; and there was evening and morning - one day.

And God said: “Let there be a

firmament in the midst of the water, and let it divide the water from the water!”

And it was so.

And God made the firmament, and

God divided the water under the firmament from the water above the firmament, and God called the firmament ‘Heaven,’ and God saw that it was good; and there was evening and morning – the second day.

And God said: “Let the water under

Heaven be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. The water under Heaven was gathered into its places, and the dry land appeared.

R E AD E R Elijah said to Elisha: “Tarry here, I beseech Thee; for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.”

And Elisha said: “As the Lord lives, and

as Thou Thyself live, I will not leave Thee!”

And the two of them went on.

And fifty men of the sons of the

Prophets also went, and stood at some distance from them, as they both were standing by the Jordan.

And Elijah took his mantle, and rolled

it up, and struck the water, and the water was parted to the one side and to the other, until the two of them could go over on dry ground.

And when they had crossed, Elijah said

to Elisha: “Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you.”

And Elisha said: “I pray Thee: let me

inherit a double share of Thy spirit.

And Elijah said: “Thou hast asked a

difficult thing; yet, if Thou see me as I am being taken from Thee, it shall be so for Thee; but if Thou dost not see me, it shall not be so.”

And as they still went on and talked,

behold, a Chariot of Fire and Horses of Fire separated the two of them.

And Elijah went up by a Whirlwind into

Heaven.

And Elisha saw it and he cried: “Father!

Father! The Chariots of Israel and its Horsemen!”

And he saw him no more.

And Elisha took hold of his own clothes

and rent them in two.

And Elisha picked up the mantle of

Elijah that had fallen from him, and stood on the bank of the Jordan.

And Elisha took the mantle of Elijah

that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and they did not part. And Elisha said: “Where is the Lord,

He said therefore to the multitudes that

came out to be Baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the Wrath to come? Bear fruits that befit Repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our Father’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham.

Even now the axe is laid to the root of

the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

And the multitudes asked him, “What

then shall we do?”

And he answered them, “He who has

two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”

Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?”

And he said to them, “Collect no more

than is appointed you.”

Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what

shall we do?”

And he said to them, “Rob no one by

violence or by false accusation, and be content with your wages.”

As the people were in expectation, and

all men questioned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he were the Christ, John answered them all, “I baptize you with water; but He Who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in His hand, to clear His threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into his granary, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.”

So, with many other exhortations, he preached good news to the people.

Thou hast spoken to us by the mouth of

Thy servants, the Prophets, foretelling

us of the Salvation to come.

The Law Thou granted to help us -Angels

Thou appointed to Guard us.

And when the Fullness of time came,

Thou spoke to us by Thy Son Himself,

by Whom also Thou created the

worlds – Who, being the Brightness of

Thy Glory, and the express Image of

Thy Person, and upholding all things

by the Word of His Power, thought it

not robbery to be Equal to Thee, God

and Father.

And being God Pre-Eternal, He showed

Himself upon Earth, and conversed

with mankind.

And being Incarnate of the Holy Virgin,

He Emptied Himself and took upon

Himself the form of a servant,

becoming the likeness of the body of

our humility that He might fashion us

like the Image of His Glory.

For inasmuch as by one man sin entered

our world, and Death by sin, so it

seemed Good to Thine Only Begotten

Son, Who is in the Bosom of Thee, O

God and Father, Conceived of a

Woman - the Holy Mother of God and

Ever Virgin Mary - Conceived under

the Law, to condemn sin in His Flesh,

that they who die in Adam may be

quickened in Thy Christ Himself.

And - dwelling in this world - He granted

Saving Commandments and, having

turned us from the deceits of idols,

brought us to the Knowledge of Thee,

the True God and Father, having

possessed us to Himself for a Chosen

People, a Royal Priesthood, a Holy

Nation.

And, having Cleansed us with Water and

Sanctified us by the Holy Spirit, He

offered Himself as a Ransom to Death,

wherein we were held – sold under

sin.

And by the Cross having descended into

Hades that He might fulfil all things

with Himself, He loosened the the

pains of Death.

And being Resurrected the Third Day, He

made way for all flesh unto the

Resurrection of the dead, for since it

was not possible that the Author of

Life should be held by corruption, He

became the First-fruit of those who

had Fallen Asleep - the Firstborn from

the dead – that in all things He might

have Pre-eminence.

Have Mercy on me, O God, according to

Thy Great Mercy.

And according to the abundance of

Thy Compassion, blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my

lawlessness, and Cleanse me of my sin.

For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me.

Against Thee only have I sinned and

done evil in Thy Sight – that Thou may be Justified in Thy Words, and overcome when Thou art Judged.

Behold, I was conceived in

transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me.

Behold, Thou Love Truth – Thou

showed me the unknown and secret things of Thy Wisdom.

Thou shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be Cleansed.

Thou shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow.

Thou shall make me hear Joy and Gladness – my bones that were humbled shall greatly Rejoice.

Turn Thy Sight from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and Renew a right spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Thy

Presence, and taken not Thy Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the Joy of Thy Salvation, and uphold me with Thy Guiding Spirit.

I will teach transgressors Thy Ways, and the ungodly shall return to Thee.

Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O

God, the God of my Salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in

also cry aloud and say: Holy indeed

and Most Holy art Thou, and no

bounds are there to the Majesty of Thy

Holiness; and Just art Thou in all Thy

Works, for in Righteousness and True

Judgement hast Thou ordered all

things for us.

For after Thou had formed man with the

clay of the Earth, and honoured him,

O God, with Thine own Image, Thou

set him in the Paradise of Delight, and

promised him Immortal Life and the

enjoyment of Eternal Good Things in

the keeping of Thy Commandments.

And when he disobeyed Thee, His True

God, Who had created him, and he

was lured by the deceit of the serpent,

and slain by his own trespasses, Thou,

O Lord, in Righteous Judgement

casted him out of Paradise into this

world, and returned him to the Earth

from whence he was taken:

dispensing for him Salvation by

Regeneration, which is in Thy Christ

Himself.

For Thou, O Good One, did not wholly

forsake Thy creature, which Thou had

made, neither did Thou forget the

Works of Thy Hands, but because of

Thy Tender Mercy in diverse

manners, visited him.

Prophets Thou sent, Mighty Works Thou

hast performed through Thy Saints,

Who have been well-pleasing to Thee

in every generation.

I believe in ONE GOD, THE FATHER

ALMIGHTY, Maker of Heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible;

And in ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY-

BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD, Begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, True God of True God, Begotten, not made; one in Essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made:

Who - for us men and for our Salvation

- bcame down from Heaven, and was Incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became Man…

And was crucified also for us under

Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried…

And on the third day He rose again,

according to the Scriptures…

And ascended into Heaven, and sits at

the right Hand of the Father…

And He shall come again with Glory to

Judge the living and the dead; Whose Kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE

LORD, AND GIVER OF LIFE, Who

proceeds from the Father, > Who with the Father and the Son together is Worshipped and Glorified; Who spoke by the Prophets.

And I believe in One Holy Catholic and

Apostolic Church.

I Confess one Baptism for the

remission of sins.

I look for the Resurrection of the dead. And the Life of the Age to come.

Amen

O Lord, our God, Thou created us and

brought us into this life.

Thou hast shown us the Way to Salvation

and hast bestowed upon us the

Revelation of Heavenly Mysteries.

Thou has appointed us to this Service by

the Power of Thy Holy Spirit.

Grant, therefore, O Lord, that we may be

accepted as Servants of Thy New

Covenant and Ministers of Thy Holy

Mysteries.

Accept us as we draw near to Thy Holy

Altar, according to the multitude of

Thy Mercy, that we may be worthy to

offer Thee this Spiritual Sacrifice

without the shedding of blood, for our

sins and for the transgressions of Thy

People.

Grant that, having accepted this Sacrifice

upon Thy Holy, Heavenly and

Spiritual Altar as an Offering of

Spiritual Fragrance, Thou may in

return send down upon us the Grace

of Thy Holy Spirit.

Look upon us, O God, and consider our

worship; and accept it as Thou

accepted the gifts of Abel, the

sacrifices of Noah, the burnt offerings

of Abraham, the Priestly Offices of

Moses and Aaron, and the Peace

Offerings of Samuel.

As Thou accepted this True Worship from

Thy Holy Apostles, accept also in Thy

Goodness, O Lord, these gifts from the

hands of us sinners, that being

deemed worthy to serve at Thy Holy

Altar without blame, we may obtain

the Reward of Faithful Stewards on

the Fearful Day of Thy Just

Judgement.
