Think.Act.Play.WaterPoloisagamesteepedintraditionandawonderfulsporttoplay.Itcanhaveapositiveinfluencethatenrichesthelivesofallinvolved.

Providingasafe,fairandinclusiveenvironmentforeveryoneinvolvedinoursport,andensuringthatourcorevalues,goodreputationandpositivebehavioursaremaintainedisapriorityofWaterPoloAustralia.

Think.Act.Play.isanawarenesscampaigndesignedtopromotepositivebehavioursbyplayers,coaches,managers,officialsandspectatorsthatupholdthevalues,reputationandspiritofWaterPolo.

Think.Act.Play.wasfirstintroducedatthe2015U16NationalChampionshipsasapilotthat’stothepartnershipofNSWSportandRecreation;andfollowingtremendoussupportandenthusiasmfromthewaterpolocommunity,hasbecomeapermanentcampaignforthesport.Think.Act.Play.isdeliveredthroughnumerousinitiativesincluding:

• Eventbriefings–discussionandreminderstocoachesandofficialsatnationaleventstoreinforcethebehaviorexpectationsandhighlightopportunitiestofurtherengagewithThink.Act.Play.atthatevent.

• Athleteengagement–athletesparticipatingineventsareencouragedtosharethemessageandtheirtakeonthevaluesofteamworkandrespectthroughsocialmediaandthecampaignhashtag#ThinkActPlay.

• Positivemessaging-keymessagesencouragingfairplayandpositivesportingbehaviorwillbedisplayedaroundeventvenues,onclothingandsignageandviasocialmediatocontinuallyremindthewaterpolocommunity.

• Post-gamehandshake–encouragedfollowingallgamesatalllevelstotakeplacepoolsideandinvolveplayers,coaches,managersfrombothteamsandreferees.

• PoolMarshalls–willplayavitalroleinencouraginggoodbehaviouramongstspectatorsatevents.

• Goodsportaward–willbeawardedfordisplaysofexemplarysportingbehaviourthroughoutnationaltournaments.

• Champions–WaterPolorolemodelswillbeutilisedinpromotionalinitiativesandcompetitionsfromtimetotime.

• EducationModules–withinallnewaccreditationcoursesadedicatedmoduletoThink.Act.Play.exploreshowindividualscanembodytheprinciplesofThink.Act.Play.andstrategiestoactasrolemodelswithinthewiderwaterpolocommunity.

IMAGESOFCHILDREN WATER POLO AUSTRALIA’S POSITION ON TAKING IMAGES OF CHILDREN Imagesofchildrencanbeusedinappropriatelyorillegally.WaterPoloAustraliarequiresthatindividualsandassociations,whereverpossible,obtainpermissionfromachild’sparent/guardianbeforetakinganimageofachildthatisnottheirown.Theyshouldalsomakesuretheparent/guardianunderstandshowtheimagewillbeused. Torespectpeople’sprivacy,wedonotallowcameraphones,videosandcamerastobeusedinsidechangingareas,showersandtoilets.Whenusingaphotoofachild,wewillnotnameoridentifythechildorpublishpersonalinformation,suchasresidentialaddress,emailaddressortelephonenumber,withouttheconsentoftheparent/guardian.Wewillnotprovideinformationaboutachild’shobbies,interests,schoolorthelike,asthiscanbeusedbypedophilesorotherpersonsto“groom”achild.
