CENTREVENTURE’S MANDATEEstablished in 1999, CentreVenture Development Corporation is an arms-length agency of the City of Winnipeg, whose mandate is to provide leadership in the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of projects and activities in the downtown.
Mayor Brian Bowman joined CentreVenture to launch the Market Lands Initiative, a year-long public engagement process to determine the future redevelopment plan for the site of the former Public Safety Building and Civic Parkade. The Market Lands is the third large-scale public/private redevelopment strategy led by CentreVenture, following the Sports, Hospitality, and Entertainment District (SHED) in 2010, and the Exchange Waterfront neighbourhood in 2000.
