Jor- dan works as an assistant athlec trainer at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio since 2015. His primary dues include working with the Volleyball, Cross Country, Track and Field, Men's Basketball, and Soſtball teams. Jordan also teaches classes in Sports Medicine minor, including Introducon to Sports Medicine and First Aid/CPR. Jordan is also the athlecs representave on the LGBT Com- miee on campus. Jordan previously worked as a high school athlec trainer in Springfield, Ohio before beginning at CWRU., the Ohio High School Rugby Associaon and coached high school soſtball at the JV and Varsity levels. Chrisne Reyes has been a board cerfied Athlec Trainer for 6 years and is a graduate from Azusa Pacific University (APU) in Azusa, CA with her Bachelors of Arts in Athlec Training in 2010 where she received the ATEP departments award for Professionalism, was se- lected and aended the Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundaons Leadership Conference and presented her student research at the District 8 FWATA convenon tled: A Correlaon Study of Athlec Training Students and Burnout”. She also earned her Masters of Arts in Leadership Development from APU in 2012. Since graduaon with her Bachelors degree, Chrisne has taken on purposeful mentoring relaonships with other APU students to help them succeed in clas- ses such as Kinesiology, Upper/Lower Assessment or in passing the Board of Cerficaon (BOC) for Athlec Training. While in school Nick worked several part-me jobs in the healthcare field including as an EMT, rehab aide and in a group home with ausc teenagers. In addion, while at the Univer- sity of Minnesota Nick was on the Mens Crew team where he rowed for 4 years. Upon graduaon, he worked full-me as an EMT at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. In his free me, Nick enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and snowboarding. He is excited to represent MPAS 3 and work alongside the other programs of RMUoHP. Jordan received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a mi-nor in Exercise Science and Fitness from the College of Mount St. Joseph in May 2014 and earned a Master of Science degree in Ath-letic Training from Indiana Wesleyan University in August 2015. Christine Reyes has been a board certified Athletic Trainer for 6 years

Leslie Filler was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho. Leslie completed her Bachelors of Science in Healthcare Administration many years ago from the University of Phoenix and pursued a career as a Certi-fied Idaho Workers Compensation Specialist, and the Occupational Health, OSHA, Safety and Employee Health director of a 48 physician-owned multi-specialty, multi-facility practice. She was also an Ad-vanced Emergency Medical Technician and worked for a Rural Fire Protection District. In 2008 she decided that she wanted "to change the lives of many" and returned back to school, she obtained 2 Asso-ciate Degrees (1 in Applied Science for her LPN and 1 in Science for her RN) from Treasure Valley Community College and continued on to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Northwest Naza-rene University. In the last 6 years Leslie has worked as a Medical-Surgical and Pediatric nurse (5 years) and a Home Health nurse (1 year). She also was a regular float to the OB, CCU and ED depart-ments for 5 years. Leslie currently works full-time in the home health industry, however for the past 3 years she has also been a part-time clinical instructor for Treasure Valley Community College instructing the second year Associate degree nursing program stu-dents. When Leslie was working as a med-surg and pediatrics nurse, she was nominated for the Daisy award. Last year she was recog-nized by RMU through the American Nurses Foundation Honor a Nurse Program for her commitment to learning, evidence-based clinical care, professional advancement and leadership. Although she has not found an area of nursing she does not like, her passion is pediatrics, oncology, orthopedics and occupational health. Leslie has attended RMUoHP since August 2015 in the FNP-3 cohort and will complete her FNP-DNP in April of 2018. Besides being a life-long learner, Leslie has been married for 25 years and has 6 children ranging from 11-23 years old and enjoys spending time with her family, her 3 horses and 4 dogs. She loves to sing, play the piano, explord the outdoors and travel.

Raegan is an occupational therapist with a background in neurologi-cal and trauma ICU for adult populations. Raegan recently transi-tioned to working in pediatric neuro inpatient rehab and the neona-tal ICU at Oregon Health Science University. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Sciences from Furman University and a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Medical Univer-sity of South Carolina. Although Raegan is originally from Tennessee, her husband and she moved across country from the Southeast to Portland, Oregon. They enjoy being outdoors, fly-fishing, hiking and snowboarding. Raegan is very excited to be a part of the neurological rehabilitation track in the DSc program and to join the GSC.

Niels Lund has called Utah home since 1992. He graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Psychology in 2005 and enjoyed a semester abroad in Germany. After this, he moved from Ogden to Salt Lake City and spent seven years working for Schlumberger in the oil and gas industry specializing in photography and well fracture simula-tions with high pressure equipment. There he assisted with establishing standard operating procedures and participated with the Loss Preven-tion Team (LPT) focused on safety and the perspectives of the various departments. Niels completed his physical therapy pre-requisite cours-es at the University of Utah. After a year of learning rock climbing with friends, he joined Momentum Climbing LLC as a youth climbing coach in 2014 and continues to teach climbing part time. He has volunteered with Splore Organization helping disadvantaged youths experience rock climbing. He enjoys many outdoor recreation activities including rock climbing, hiking, landscape photography, skiing, and motorcycling.

Thomas Melanson was born in Orem, Utah but was raised in Albu-querque, New Mexico, and Portland, Oregon. He went Brigham Young University received his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science in 2016. While attending school Thomas was an assistant basketball coach at Timpview High School along with working and volunteering at various PT clinics. After graduation he and his wife, Heather, moved down to Austin, Texas. Thomas is currently enrolled in the eDPT program at RMUoHP and is representing cohort 8. During his free time, Thomas loves to play any sports, expressly basketball and disc golf, enjoy nature by hiking, mountain bike riding, backpacking, and camping, and spend time with his wife and is excited to spend time with his child that is coming in December.

Julian was born in Washington DC. He has a bachelor of science in

business administration degree from American University. He played

1 year of soccer at Ohio State University. While attending American

he tried to play professional soccer in Europe and was also a personal

trainer. He then received his CSCS upon completing his Bacholor De-

gree. He then started working at a local big box gym as a perfor-

mance coach and started his business on the side as well. After

about a year at the big box gym he and a friend opened a gym

focusing on performance training and soccer training for the

youth athletes. Julian is currently enrolled in the Masters Degree

in health science with a focus in Sports Performance. During his

free time he likes to play soccer , strength train and go hiking

Jamie Peatrowsky was born and raised in small-town Ne-braska. After graduating high school, she moved to Omaha, NE where she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psy-chology. After graduation, she partook in activities within the collegiate and medical field. She also volunteered for Planned Parenthood, assisting in healthcare education throughout the community. She moved to Denver, CO in 2013 and began volunteer work with The Blue Bench, a rape crisis hot-line. After this volunteer work and exploring the fields of dermatology, uro-gynecology, fertility and orthope-dics, she realized her passion for medicine and began work-ing on completing classes for Physician Assistant school. Her employment in Denver, lead her to become a member of the Employee Advisory Committee. As a committee member, she was a voice to fellow co-workers and worked collectively with clinics throughout the HealthOne System to improve employee satisfaction, work flow efficiencies and engage-ment across the various offices. During her free time, Jamie enjoys hiking, camping, attending musical concerts and adult gymnastics. She is excited to become a voice for the MPAS class and to collaborate with other programs of RMUoHP.

Brian Shrum is the assistant women’s soccer coach and an ad-junct professor at Duquesne University. His primary responsibil-ities are strength and conditioning, player wellness monitoring, and nutritional strategies for the women’s soccer team. Addi-tionally, he teaches Integrated Performance Training for senior athletic training students. Brian’s passion and research interests are training readiness/fatigue management and appropriate periodization for speed development in soccer. Brian received a Master of Science from California University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Sports Performance and Injury Preven-tion. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and received his Certified Strength and Con-ditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification in 2010. He is the co-host of the popular podcast “JustKickinPod” devoted to providing coaching information to soccer coaches, parents, players, and staff. In collaboration with experts from around the world the podcast offers information on nutrition, sports science, leader-ship and other areas for coaching. Brian also contributes to the National Academy of Speed and Explosion with articles on speed development in soccer. Brian resides in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania with his wonderful wife Lori and dog Messi.

Lamija Rahmanovic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Her-

cegovina during the time of the Siege of Sarajevo, and

came to the U.S. as a refugee in November of 1995 and

has lived in the Chicagoland area since. She received her

Bachelors of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences with

a concentration in Speech-Language Pathology from the

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May of

2017. Lamija is currently enrolled in the RMUoHP Masters

of Medical Speech-Language Pathology program and is a

part of the inaugural class. When not in school, she en-

joys hiking around Utah, with her favorite place being

Zion so far. She also enjoys winter sports like skiing and

snowboarding and loves to travel to different places.

Shawna Townsend was born and raised in Manhattan Beach

California. Shawna completed her Bachelors of science degree

in occupational therapy from California State University

Dominguez Hills in 2003. She earned a graduate certificate in

low vision rehabilitation from the University of Alabama at

Birmingham. Shawna has worked in a variety of practice

settings including outpatient sensory integration, school based

therapy, and acute care on the neurology, stroke and brain

injury unit. Currently she works full time in a level III neonatal

intensive care unit where she holds advanced practice in feed-

ing and swallowing and specializes in infant development and

feeding. Shawna also teaches as an adjunct professor at Cali-

fornia State University Dominguez Hills in the MSOT program.

Shawna is an active member of the National Association of

Neonatal Therapists (NANT) and has presented at the state and

national level. In her free time, Shawna enjoys watching Dodg-

er games and traveling with her husband, their three young

children and boxer named Bella.

Allison Smith completed her Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Therapies at Louisiana Tech University in 2007. She obtained her Masters in Communication Disor-ders in 2009 from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Since graduation, Allison has worked as a speech-language pathologist for the past 8 years in schools, hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practices, and skilled nursing facilities. She holds the certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and is licensed as a speech-language pathologist in Alabama, Alaska, Tennessee, and Texas. Allison currently lives in Madison, Alabama and is the Director of Rehab at a Skilled Nursing Facility. She enjoys working with the geriatric popula-tion with a focus on stroke recovery and dementia while man-aging her therapy department. Allison looks forward to serving as the SLP representative for the graduate student council as she continues her studies in the ClinScD program as a member of Cohort 5. In her free time, she enjoys spending time running and hiking with her husband, Brian, and her dog, Roux.

Robert Thorson DPT, cohort 9 1/18 - 8/20 4 S. Hazelcrest Drive Sugar Grove, Ill. 60554 CELL: 630.777.2667 [email protected]

Robert was born and raised in Sugar Grove, Illinois just west of Chicago. He completed his Associates in Science from Elgin Community College in 2013. He then went to Campbell Univer-sity in North Carolina where he graduated with a Bachelors in Exercise Science in 2016. He played baseball as a pitcher for both institutions he attended. Before getting into the DPT pro-gram here at RMU he worked as a rehab aide in an outpatient physical therapy clinic and as a program director for a local high school baseball organization called the Kane County Phan-toms. In his free time, he loves to coach youth sports, play golf, learn guitar, and do anything that involves NASCAR or sports car racing. Robert is excited for the opportunity he has been presented with here at RMU and hopes to make the most of it. He also is looking forward to getting married in October of 2018.
