Westcott Community Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization located in
Syracuse, NY that strives to offer a variety of diverse programs for the members of
our community, from school-aged children, to adults, and senior citizens.
Human Service programs such as senior services, afterschool programming, high
school equivalency courses, and free legal aid clinics are some examples of services
found at Westcott Community Center. An assortment of entertaining and engaging
arts and cultural programs also take place regularly at Westcott Community
Center, including concerts, lectures, and our annual Art Trail event.
We offer extensive programming geared toward the senior population
residing in our community, helping those aged 60+ to remain active, social, and
healthy, enabling them to live independently for as long as they are able. We offer
an in-house after school program, Kids’ Club, which provides students with
tutoring, academic support and guest speakers, as well as activities incorporating
culture, fitness, leadership, and community engagement into students’ routines,
with parental engagement and involvement being a major strength of this
program. We also partner with other local organizations and agencies, such as the
Syracuse City School District, to provide afterschool enrichment services at three
local SCSD school locations. We maintain a high standard for programming and
services that best meet the needs of our friends and neighbors in the Syracuse
community.
Our Mission
The Westcott Community Center provides a safe, accessible community space for
activities and programs that meet community needs; we strengthen and unite
the community by bringing together its diverse elements; we raise consciousness
through public education, art, music, culture, craft, civic discourse and debate;
and we advance the full inclusion of all persons in the community.

seniors in need this year. Our stories:
Jim is a senior who is 101. He’s a WWII veteran who still lives independently in our neighborhood. His family lives out of town and asked for our help. He needed to improve his nutrition and gain the ability to socialize on a more regular basis. He worked with our Senior Neighborhood Advisor to attend lunch and activities at the Center. His has shared many war stories and his love of music with others. We also helped him receive Meals On Wheels and are currently working on home improvements to make his home safer.
Menzo is a senior who has attended programs and services at the Westcott CC for a very long time. He attends lunch and activities every day and has many friends at the Center. Recently, he signed up for the iPad training class. He is making great progress learning how to use the apps and email. He was able to transfer some of the skills he learned in the iPad class and now knows how to send an email from his phone. Needless to say, he was thrilled!
