After completing my vocational training placement I undertook various Max-Fax senior house officer posts at Luton and Dunstable Hospital and Rotherham Hospital. I bought my first dental practice 2 years after completing VT and have been an Educational Supervisor since 2012. I feel I have a lot to offer a newly qualified dentist, not only from a clinical point of view but from an entrepreneurial aspect as well. Over the coming year I intend to complete the Post Graduate Certificate in Dental Education. Outside of my business I enjoy playing 5 a side football, cooking and have recently taken up skiing. The Practice: Littleport Dental Surgery is a busy mixed NHS and Private practice with three dental surgeries. We have two part time dentists, a hygienist, two receptionists and three dental nurses. We have a close knit team and all look out for one and another. The practice has been totally refurbished with the installation of a new reception and waiting area, decontamination room and all the rooms have recently been renewed with new chairs and equipment. We offer all types of treatment within the practice and have a long-established respected reputation within the local community that we strive to uphold. The local train station is walking distance from the practice and there are excellent train links to London, Cambridge and King's Lynn. Other Points of Interest: A comment about our practice left by a patient on NHS Choices. "I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. After only 2 appointments here with a fantastic dentist, I feel brilliant and at last confident about sorting the many problems with my teeth. I also received wonderful support and encouragement from one of the dental nurses. Can't recommend them highly enough!"

I have also completed a PG Certificate in Dental Education to improve the quality of the training program within the Practice. I love all aspects of my job, from the clinical dentistry to practice management and leadership. I have been a Trainer now for 5 years and have remained in touch with each of the trainees so far, having developed a friendship alongside a professional relationship, We have a large team, full of enthusiastic, hardworking and fun individuals that makes coming to work a pleasure rather than a stress. Outside of dentistry and practice management, my time is almost entirely taken up by my two little girls, which I actually find much more exhausting than seeing a full day of patients!

We have four dentists, a visiting orthodontist, three part time hygienists, two receptionists, six dental nurses and a practice manager. Other Points of Interest: The local town has plenty of independently owned shops and a number of very busy pubs. Cambridge and Peterborough are both close enough to venture into over the weekends or in the evenings for food and fun. A comment left on NHS Choices; "I found this dentist practice very professional and efficient. Receptionists know their stuff and can offer advice. The dentists that I have visited have always done an excellent job and made me feel at ease (as I am usually very anxious when visiting a dentist). My visit today for a crown (visit 1 of 2) went extremely well and the dentist was extremely capable. Two dentists discussed my case and they brought me into the discussion so that I knew what was being discussed. Yep, would definitely recommend them"

The Educational Supervisor: I am the Principal Dentist of Queensbury Dental Practice in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. I qualified in 1999 from Kings College London and have remained in mixed general dental practice (predominantly NHS with some private). I started as an Associate in a busy NHS practice in Luton, Bedfordshire and worked there for 4 years. I gained valuable experience to progress and open my own (squat) practice thereafter. I enjoy all aspects of Dentistry and have a keen interest in Sedation and management of anxious patients. I have a broad range of skills and experience combined with a commitment to patient care that will stand any FD in good stead. I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Dental Education in 2012 and have been an educational supervisor for 3 years since 2013. I want to continue developing my teaching skills by providing new graduates the opportunity to learn and progress through joining our busy practice. I am vice - chair of the Local Dental Committee and a member of the Local Dental Education Committee. I endeavour to transmit local dentists' views and concerns and their educational wants and needs to the Area Team and Postgraduate Team, respectively. I actively encourage feedback from my Associates to enable me to do this. I try to attain a good work / life balance and encourage my team and colleagues to do likewise. Outside of dentistry, I try to keep fit and enjoy socialising, spending time with my family and friends and going to Anfield to support Liverpool FC.

Other Points of Interest: What Foundation Dentists and Associate Dentists have said about Queensbury Dental Practice:

"The first six months at Queensbury Dental Practice as a FD have been most enjoyable. I feel I have been challenged in the correct way and gained a great deal of experience and knowledge. I feel the teaching methods Gurpram has adopted have been most useful in bringing out the best in me as a dentist. I feel he has made a lot of effort to ensure I am comfortable in the environment and am gaining the most from this year." - Ana

"After completing my foundation training with the EOE deanery last year, working at Queensbury dental practice has been the perfect transition into general practice. The opportunity for learning is great with a general evidence-based approach to practice. The team are incredibly friendly and helpful, with a supportive and approachable Principal who is more than happy to discuss and help with difficult cases." - Richard.

"Gurpram is an extremely approachable and incredibly passionate dentist, who is always willing to offer his advice and guidance when needed, which he does in a constructive and positive manner. He is generous with his time, and has always given me full clinical freedom and encouraged me to be an ethical dentist. Our patient population is of a perfect balance and the practice has built its strong reputation solely via word of mouth. The entire team are great to work with; the nurses and receptionist are very experienced, efficient and helpful, and have been working together in unison for may years. This is a perfect environment to work in, and I look forward to welcoming a new member to our team." - Mayur,

I have an interest in Orthodontics, and at the Surgery we provide a mix of orthodontic treatment on children and adults. I split my days over our 2 surgeries and between Kiran and I, we split our time between the Foundation Dentist so they get the benefit of 2 ES's. Outside of work to relax, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and going to the gym.

Kiran Jutla: I qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 2005 and did my Foundation Training here at De-ientes. I

thoroughly enjoyed my time here and stayed on as an associate. In 2011 I became a joint Educational Supervisor with Sunita Naidoo. I enjoy many aspects of dentistry but I have a keen interest in crowns/veneers, composite restorations & teeth whitening and I enjoy the rewards when successfully dealing with nervous patients. Working at Clapham is always exciting – the staff and the patients create a wonderful blend and the working environment is always positive. This year I have also begun a postgraduate diploma in Dental Education. When I am not at the surgery, I can be found shopping – it’s not an addiction….(honestly!). I like to do the odd non-dental course too and have a certificate in Interior Design. To relax I enjoying singing, boxing and charity work. I also enjoy new challenges –I have newly mastered the art of attempting to cook food without destroying the taste buds of my family!

The Practice: De-ientes Clapham (formerly Dental Care Centre) opened in May 1999. We have built a thriving community based practice which helps to serve residents of Clapham and it's surrounding villages. The practice is located two miles from Bedford Town Centre.

The practice is fully computerised and has four surgeries, two of which are also equipped with television

screens above the dental chairs to allow our patients to relax back while having treatment.

At De-ientes, we aim to raise the benchmarks in the services we provide by taking the time to consult with our patients, creating personalised plans to suit their needs, time constraints and budget.

The Area: Clapham is a picturesque village on the banks of the River Great Ouse situated 2 miles from Bedford Town Centre. There is a cafe, local shop and post office in the village.

Bedford is a traditional market town with a population of approximately 160,000. Bedford is easily accessible off Juction 13 of the M1 and London, Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Luton are all commutable within an hour. There is also a good choice of rental properties within the surrounding area.

The River Great Ouse passes through the town centre and the Bedford Regatta is Britain's largest single day rowing regatta, held in May every year. Every two years Bedford also holds a river festival, one of the biggest free family festivals in Britain, held over a weekend in July attended by hundreds of thousands of people..

Other Points of INterest: Here at de-ientes we encourage team building and communication. We have a very friendly close-knit team of dentists, dental nurses and receptionists. We hold regular staff meetings and training sessions every month and encourage participation and input from all team members.

2017 Paul Sanders Melbourn Dental Practice Melbourn, Cambridgeshire Paul Sanders BDS MFGDP Year Qualified: 1982 GDC Number: 57348 Email Address: [email protected] Melbourn Dental Practice 24A Orchard Road Melbourn Royston Herts SG8 6HH Phone Number: 01763 262 034 Map Link: Googel map click here

The Educational Supervisor: I qualified from Guy’s Hospital and went straight into Vocational Training where I remained for 3 years. This was followed by 2 years of Oral Surgery hospital appointments in Peterborough and Bristol, then 5 years local general practice as an associate before starting a new surgery in Melbourn in 1992. I undertook training and became a clinical audit facilitator in 1996. I also completed the PG Cert. in Dental Education in 2011.

My history shows that I have a broad range of experience combined with a commitment and loyalty to situations and people that will stand any VDP in good stead. I am an experienced trainer and am keen to continue developing my career by providing an opportunity for a new graduate dentist to join our growing practice. Here at Melbourn you will have a fantastic opportunity to develop a wide range of practical and administrative skills over the coming year, free from any concerns of a financial or clinical nature.

My aim is to help you grow into a competent, confident, caring practitioner with high ethical and moral standards and a credit to dentistry. I eagerly anticipate the chance to embark on this important task together. I am married with 3 children.

The Practice: We are an up-to-date computerised practice with three modern, well equipped surgeries. We share the building with a chiropodist, an osteopath and a letting agency (who will be able to help with accommodation if required). Originally a doctors surgery, it was converted to dentistry in 1992. Refurbishments and investment will mean that you will have a comfortable working environment.

We are situated in an affluent commuter village with a majority of fee paying NHS patients. There is however a good mix of children, retired, private and exempt groups too with excellent potential for NHS growth and this should afford the opportunity to gain clinical experience in all aspects of general dentistry.

A mix of loyal, experienced and new staff in training offer ample support and my door is less than 5 metres from yours. I believe that this set-up will favour a focused trainer/trainee relationship without undue distractions. A gradual introduction is planned with increasing exposure to more complex procedures as your year progresses. We offer such an appreciated, supportive and nurturing team that our first two VT’s decided not to leave, and they now have their own list of happy patients.

We received good feedback from our last CQC inspection and they even quoted one comment that we are ‘A top notch practice!’ Working and living for decades in a small rural community means that the practice trades on its reputation and our FD’s are an important asset in enhancing our local prestige.

The Area: Melbourn is a pleasant, highly regarded village situated just 10 minutes from the market town of Royston and 20 minutes from Cambridge. It boasts many thatched cottages and is proud to be part of the “necklace villages”, a few attractive villages that form a ring around the south of Cambridge City. Local shopping, schooling and leisure facilities are on offer, together with immediate access to the A10 and the train station is a 10 minute walk from the practice.

This is a thriving and growing community within easy (45 mins) commuting distance of London and providing employment at the reputable Science and Industrial Parks.

Other Points of Interest: I enjoy most facets of general dentistry, particularly endodontics, prevention, non-surgical periodontics and general conservation. You would be helping us work towards the BDA Good Practice Scheme Award. When out of the surgery I might be found on a postgraduate course (I recently completed the year long Tipton phantom head course in London), a squash court, a golf course, or a ski slope.

2017 Raj Wadhwani and Preeti Bose Antwerp House Cambridge, Cambridgeshire Raj Wadhwani BDS, LDSRCS (Eng), DGDPRCS, MFDSRCS (Eng), MClinDent (Prosth), Msc (Imp) Year Qualified: 1993 GDC Number: 69887 Email Address: [email protected] Preeti Bose BDS Lpool Year Qualified: 2001 GDC Number: 79364 Email Address: [email protected] Antwerp House 36 Brookfields Cambridge CB1 3NW Phone Number: 01223 247690 Fax Number: 01223 500117 Website: www.antwerphouse.co.uk Map Link: Google map click here

The Educational Supervisors: Raj Wadhwani: As the Clinical Director at Antwerp House I have several very important roles to play. My principle role is to ensure that patients are being treated in an effective and safe manner using evidence based techniques. I have received post-graduate training in Prosthodontics and Implantology and currently am doing an MSc in orthodontics. My caseload is therefore divided into 50% children’s orthodontics, and 50% prosthodontics and implantology. I have taken an interest in some newer technologies applicable to general practice, namely the use of lasers and CADCAM technology in dentistry. I therefore use a hard and soft tissue laser as part of several dental procedures. I have also been trained in the use of the CEREC machine. This is a computer which designs dental restorations and use of this technology is one of my preferred methods of restoring posterior teeth in the worn dentition. Due to my post-graduate interests I lecture to dental practitioners on the subjects of laser dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant dentistry. I am involved in teaching and tutoring for the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry organised by the FGDP and am one of their examiners.

Preeti Bose: I qualified from Liverpool with a BDS in 2001. I immediately carried out one year of vocational training in Kent and then continued working as an associate in North London. In 2004, I moved to Cambridge and worked as a GDP at Antwerp House Dental Practice. During this time I have gained a certificate in Conscious sedation from Addenbrookes Hospital and have continued my training with further SAAD courses. I have also trained as an invisalign dentist and am continually developing my skills in all aspects of this field of dentistry.

The Practice: Antwerp House Dental Practice is a large Edwardian House located on the corner of busy cross roads near the centre of Cambridge. The practice opened in 1999 and was the first practice of what is now a group of 6 practices within Antwerp House Group. The practice has undergone a major refurbishment to a very high specification in 2010. It is a very busy practice offering NHS, Independent and Private treatment. The practice is fully computerised with on-line transmissions for NHS treatment forms with the use of digital X-Rays.

Antwerp House has a fully operating decontamination room to HTM-0105 and are continually striving towards best practice with the use of facilities such as a washer disinfector. The practice has an outstanding cross-infection control culture and are constantly updating our knowledge with in house and external training.

We have a dedicated teaching facility and are now into our third year of the Antwerp House Academy. The practice is following the Investors in People business development process to drive the effectiveness of the business forward.

The Area: Cambridge is a vibrant, cosmopolitan and affluent city with a very diverse group of people and things to do. It is an exciting city with many technology parks and is a much regarded centre of learning due to the influence of Cambridge University.

Other Points of Interest: We have a specialist Endodontist and a specialist Periodontist working within the Antwerp House Dental Group. We also have several practitioners within Antwerp House who carry out periodontology, endodontology, orthodontics - including Invisalign, osseo-integrated dental implants, facial rejuvenation procedures and full mouth rehabilitation offering diverse support to the FD.
