You may have noticed lots of new faces in the office this year - if you have, you’d be right! We added to our team to help support our growing practice so that we are able to stay committed to providing all our patients with comprehensive dental care. Between January and September we welcomed 9 new members to the team: Kynsie and Denise as hygienists (Denise was only working on Fridays, but now we get to see her all week!) Maddy, Liz, and Ashley joined us as dental assistants. Carly was hired as our marketing coordinator and Dr. Overman’s personal assistant and Britt as our front office assistant. We also hired two doctors, Dr. Hauswirth and Dr. Morio! That’s a lot of names to keep straight so take a look at the photos to the right and say ‘hi’ next time you’re in the office. Each team member has brought value to our practice and we are so thankful for their commitment to each of our patients’ health!

Dr. Hauswirth comes to us from Pocahontas, Iowa and makes the trip every week to treat and care for our patients on Mondays and Tuesdays. She and her husband, Kristopher, had a successful first year of harvest on their farm and when she’s not doing dentistry, she enjoys painting! She & Kris are excitedly awaiting the arrival of their first child in March!

Dr. Morio and her husband, Mike, recently moved from Iowa City back to Dr. Morio’s hometown of Ames and have just bought a home in Ankeny. She sees patients on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and her husband is a practicing oral surgeon in Des Moines. They have a 6-month-old daughter, Makayla, and enjoy spending time as a family and with their dog when they’re not working.

The past year has been full of blessings for the Overman Family Dentistry team and we’d like to share with you just a few of the exciting things that have happened in the life of our practice this year. We’re so thankful for the people we have met, team members and doctors that we’ve added, and the events we’ve had the privilege to host. 2017 held exciting things for Dr. Overman and his family too with the birth of their sixth child, Henry. We’ve included more details and pictures in the below updates!

Not to go unmentioned, there was another very special addition to the Overman family! Dr. Overman and his wife, Stephanie, welcomed their sixth child, Henry James Overman, to the family on August 28th. Henry is especially loved by his older siblings, Hannah, Ella, Sophia, Amelia, and Elias.

In July we hosted the second annual His Hands free dentistry day for Ames community members. This is an event that we hosted for the first-time last year as a response to God’s overflowing blessings He’s given us and as a way to bless the people we’re surrounded by. We partnered with Ames Family Dental, Jewell Family Dentistry, Stoltze and Stoltze Family Dentistry, Veranda Dentistry, and numerous volunteers to provide free dental services to 65 people.

In October we began a new tradition that we are calling ‘Acts of Random Kindness’ or ARK day! Our staff was split into small groups and challenged to find ways to show random acts of kindness to people in our community. We surprised Mary Greeley patients & residents at Green Hills Retirement Community with flower bouquets and donuts & one group made a donation to the Ankeny Fire Department who has a program to give to families in need.

November 10th was our fourth annual day of free dentistry honoring Veterans. We always look forward to spending time with the men and women that have sacrificed so much to fight for our freedoms. This year we were able to say thank you to 27 veterans by offering free cleanings, exams, fillings, and extractions.

In-House Savings Plan Launch!

Towards the end of this year, we announced the launch of our in-house savings plan. This plan is meant to be an alternative to traditional insurance for those that may not have access to it. It is a simple process to sign up, and all your preventative care for the year is included in the annual membership plus you’ll receive preferred prices on all other dental treatment and products that are offered. The great news is that there are no maximums, deductibles, waiting periods, or exclusions! Overman Family Dentistry’s goal is to care for the whole person by providing comprehensive dental care in order to improve and maintain a person’s oral and overall health. Our hope in offering this savings plan is to give our patients the access to dental care that they
