Level 4 exemplar Comments The candidate’s answers show good knowledge and understanding of the facts, concepts and principles in the Biology curriculum. He/she demonstrated skills in questions related to scientific investigation, such as identifying features shown in photomicrographs and relating them to the knowledge learned (Paper 1B Q.4). He/she was able to handle some questions set on familiar situations (Paper 1B Q.3(b) and Q.5(a); Paper 2 Q.1(a)). However, in handling questions set on unfamiliar situations (Paper 1B Q.9 and Q.10; Paper 2 Q.1(b) and Q.2), he/she displayed some relevant knowledge but could not apply it fully to explain the given phenomena. For questions related to data analysis, he/she showed some skills in identifying trends and related inferences (Paper 1B Q.8), selecting relevant data to support an argument (Paper 1B Q.9(d)(i)). In essay type questions (Paper 1B Q.11), he/she was able to select some relevant knowledge and use scientific terminology to communicate ideas and provide some arguments to support the credibility of the claims.
