At Fairmont Preparatory Academy, we encourage our students to work hard both in and out of the classroom. One reason top U.S. colleges and universities choose Fairmont graduates is because they demonstrate their abilities through top marks and involvement in extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports and community service.

Fairmont’s Prep Plus after school program is a unique and dynamic rotating schedule of after school tutoring and enrichment workshops. Prep Plus gives students the opportunity to choose from a variety of classes and workshops. They can learn more about American culture, try new sports, prepare for a test, receive homework help or just socialize with friends. Junior High international students will take the Fairmont bus to the Prep for after school and/or Prep Plus classes.

D E B A T E P R O G R A M

Fairmont’s junior high and high school speech and debate programs offer students a significant edge in the college admissions process and in the pursuit of challenging careers. Participation in speech and debate provides students real cognitive and behavioral benefits, such as improved reading, communication and critical thinking skills. Student debaters learn to function on a team with fellow debate students in a competitive environment, attending multiple competitions throughout the year. Debate participation fosters intellectual curiosity and increases motivation, transforming students into more engaged and responsible young adults with a stronger work ethic.

R O B O T I C S P R O G R A M

Led by professional engineers, the Robotics Program explores the continuous progression of technology. Students blend creativity with physics, computer programming, science, engineering and other academic principles in order to solve daunting technical challenges. They become immersed in examining the problem, designing and building the technical solution along with conducting tests to ensure working ability.. They learn and use sophisticated software and hardware to build a robot of their design.

Students experiment and manipulate technology together as a team. This high level of collaboration drives the passion behind the “Huskyteers,” Fairmont Prep’s Robotics Team. The team participates in an internationally renowned competition hosted by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).

Preparing for college isn’t just about excelling in the classroom. That’s why campus life is so important at Fairmont Preparatory Academy. From student government and clubs to community service and sporting events, students at Fairmont are stretching their minds and making friendships that will last a lifetime. Fairmont Preparatory Academy has more than 46 clubs, 15 varsity sports and dozens of student-led activities and events throughout the year.

The accomplishments resulting from this program build confidence and provide a catalyst to countless academic and career possibilities. It also provides opportunities to receive college scholarships.

ARRIVAL PICKUP MANAGEMENT AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICESFrom the moment you arrive in the United States, our IFC team will ensure that your transportation needs are met. We will arrange airport pickup and transfer to your homestay. Throughout your program, the IFC team works together with the school and your host family to be sure transportation is provided to and from school.

ORIENTATIONThe IFC team will organize a special orientation for international students, including important information sessions and fun activities, to help you feel comfortable from the day you arrive.

As an incoming student, it is best for you to know in advance what you will be studying at Fairmont. The IFC staff will arrange pre-arrival interviews and testing, either in person in your country or by Skype, to ensure that you can make the most of the courses offered.

DAY-TO-DAY SUPPORTStudying in another country brings challenges beyond just the language barrier. The IFC office is the information point for all international students at Fairmont. Our counselors are present at Fairmont’s campuses. Their primary role is to help students communicate with teachers, administration, and their host families about their day-to-day concerns.

F A I R M O N T S U P P O R T S E R V I C E S

ADVISINGThe IFC team works in conjunction with all Fairmont teachers and staff to give direction and advice to our international students so they do not miss valuable academic and recreational opportunities. They will keep you up-to-date and informed about what is happening in the school.

INSURANCE PLANOur international students maintain adequate health insurance coverage through IMG Global. Students have 100% coverage in-network and access to many options for U.S. healthcare providers. IFC assists both host families and students in finding the proper provider in any given circumstance, as well as assistance with all necessary claims after a visit to a medical professional.
